Ric Flair recounts how alcohol abuse nearly led to his death

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Ric Flair said that what he went through over the past few weeks trumps anything he had been through before, including surviving an airplane crash, breaking his back, and getting hit by lightning.

Years of alcohol abuse caught up with the two-time WWE Hall of Famer just over a month ago where within hours, Flair was in the early stages of kidney failure and on the verge of congestive heart failure.

Flair revealed that his family members were told that he only had 20% chance of making it through as doctors scrambled to save his life, including removing part of Flair’s bowel and inserting a pacemaker. “It scared the sh!t out of me. But I’m not out of the woods yet,” Flair said.

The 16-time World Heavyweight champion says that he now needs a nurse to help him steady his shaking hands so he can have some water from a glass. He admitted that he never thought he was an alcoholic, an opinion which has now changed. “I’ll never drink again,” says Flair. “I never want to go through this again.”

Ed Nordholm explains why Bound For Glory won’t be in a big arena

Anthem Sports & Entertainment’s Ed Nordholm said told the Ottawa Citizen newspaper that they chose Ottawa for Bound For Glory to “make a statement” in their first effort to produce one of their big events outside Orlando.

Nordholm admitted that it would be difficult for them to sell an arena so the Aberdeen Pavilion was the perfect location. “The crowd will pack it rather than be spread out through it. It’s just the right size, it’ll ensure we can get people in the stands where they’ll have a connection with our wrestlers and vice-versa,” he said, adding that he hopes 500 fans fill the Pavilion every night for five straight nights.

“It’s night after night after night, we’d maybe look at it differently (if it was just the pay-per-view). We wanted to make sure even by the last night, there was still a good crowd and a good feeling,” he said.

Nordholm also said that the company’s new tagline is “Less Talk More Action,” with a style focusing more on the action in the ring than storylines and talk. “Not to take anything away from WWE, that is their product and they obviously do a spectacular job. But we have a very good show with talented wrestlers, athletic wrestlers.”

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan died of organ failures

Jessica Solt, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, told the Tampa Bay Times that Heenan died from organ failures brought on by the disease. “It was just his time,” Solt said. He had been battling cancer since 2002.

Jessica said that her father didn’t really practice in real life what he preached as the over-the-top wrestling personality. Heenan was loyal to his wife of 40 years Cindy and was always available to help friends.

Brian Blair, one half of the tag team The Killer Bees and a former Hillsborough County Commissioner, said that he misses “The Brain” already and described him as one of the best in the industry.

Lanny Poffo, the brother of the late Macho Man Randy Savage and another former colleague of Bobby Heenan, put over Heenan’s heel tactics and it was evident when WWE put Andre The Giant, who was one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, with Heenan and he was instantly hated.

Quick reiteration of the mega Smith / Lombard UFC Fight Night 116

I bet UFC fans would not have missed the HUGE ultimate fighting championship between heavyweight maestros Anthony Smith and Hector Lombard. For the intellectually unfamiliar, this highly anticipated duel raked-in a colossal turnout at the PPG Paints Ring located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Even as fans poured at the PPG Arena on 16th September, the battle was assumed to be a 100% winning statement for the fighters, organizers, peers and of course, the paparazzi. Right after making a-not-so-grand comeback from an unsuccessful dope exam, Hector gave way under the brunt with his subsequent trio of battles. His encounter with Anthony was more like an inexperienced fighter who had taken several steps back instead of promoting upward.

People could see it on Lombard’s face the struggle which eventually allowed him to remain on the charts. On the other hand, Anthony Smith took the ring like a boss who snatched the opportunity and has displayed a way better performance than his rival. Overall it was a good match (at least for the spectators) and all eyeballs remain glued to Smith as he preps for the outlook.

Lady Luck Not with Hector Any More

The lack of aptitude was evident for the failing Lombard as he made rapid yet clumsy advances with reckless permutations. A fully prepped Smith took on each and every blow delivered by Hector Lombard by a tangential swings and lunges in the mid section which earned him a premature victory. It was a mere 1.5 minute bout for the initial round when Hector did the saving grace by a few solid shots. This Hectoring delivery sent Mr. Smith careening into the alley with double legs in tow.

Although Smith looked really bad, he quickly regained his smashed stupor and was back on his feet before the countdown. Agility is the USP of Lombard as he retaliated to the regain by Smith and bagged a bit more points with spot-on volleys. His aggression towards the front leg conveyed optimum results as Smith displayed sluggish conduct right after the attack. Both players showed exceptional sportsmanship, much to the delight of the viewers, but initially lady luck had hers charms around Lombard for the 1st round. (Get Instant News Alerts Here)

Is It Gone in 60 Seconds Again?

On an attention-grabbing note, it was Hector Lombard with his new found achievement by freely delivering lower-abs kicks that he relied on this stratagem way too much. It was only in the 2ndbout that his luck ran out tentatively – to injuries or weariness – but Anthony Smith also went on the same note by being a tad slower than the opening. Lombard took this aspect as an apt chance to work against his drawback pertaining to range. Fans were busy comprehending the odds on mobile at the same epoch.

In the concluding sixty seconds of the bout, it was Smith who got a sudden revival. He had a crack at Hector with his right fist, making a quick succession of a mid kick and the subsequent second right-hander dazed his rival. He once again upped his ante with the final round by making it a very close one and made his way to a higher degree than Lombard. Both heavyweights had their share of weariness but Smith would not give up the ghost that easy. Hector tried an unsuccessful pursuit by eventually delivering one crack in the process but the entire milieu had the name of Anthony Smith in conclusion.

Positive Market for UFC Betting

With the Ultimate Fighting Championship being a big name in evolving sport globally, it is imperative for aspirant punters and fans to understand the odds of the game. There is a basketful of events held throughout the year just as the one hosted at the PPG Arena in mid September. With such events come elite sports books and UFC betting sites which allow potential bettors to acquire positive profits on their endeavors. Leading online bookmaking portals including Betway advises betting participants to explore the fine print before placing a bet on their favorite UFC fighter. Such sites also allow free registration and sign-up perks to make the overall experience even better.

Concluding Epoch for Mr. Smith

It was truly a fatigued round for Lombard as he tried his best to trail Smith but unfortunately gave way to a quick right fist which almost cracked his rival’s nut, to which he immediately withdrew from the pursuit. However, Lombard tried extending a blow as a contradictory attack but missed. This made it an easy 1-2 for Smith as he cracked his opponent’s jaw line for a succeeding uninterrupted KO in the 3rd bout; akin to The Edge showdown in TNA wrestling.

The Sunday night gave Smith his major victory and another ace up his sleeve for his career. Despite his game might not appear rather amusing, it does work for him on the whole. After winning the bout with Lombard he was still able to stand and glance at his opponent for any sudden comebacks. It was truly a grand show with an incredible knockout to end the game.

Charlotte gets Smackdown Women’s title shot at HIAC

WWE Superstar Charlotte made her first appearance on television in over a month last night on Smackdown and got herself a title shot at Hell In A Cell.

Charlotte beat Tamina, Becky Lynch, and Naomi in a fatal 4-way match to become the new number one contender for the Smackdown Women’s title. Last year, Charlotte main evented Hell In A Cell with Sasha Banks as the two wrestled in the first-ever women’s HIAC match.

“Felt so good to lace up my boots tonight,” Charlotte said in a tweet, before thanking her opponents in different tweets.

The former WWE Divas and Women’s champion took some time off to stay by her father’s side who was hospitalized on August 12. She returned touring with Smackdown in late August and has been backstage at television shows for the past three weeks but has not been used.

Monday Night Raw TV report for 09/18/2017

We begin with a tribute to Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. RIP Nov 1, 1944 – Sep 17, 2017.

We are live from San Jose. This is our “go home Raw”, before No Mercy this Sunday live for LA.

We start with Kurt Angle, complete with “YOU SUCK” chants. He is previewing this Sunday’s No Mercy and starts talking John Cena vs Roman Reigns… then Braun vs Brock… and then he is interrupted by Miz (with the Miztourage but no Maryse) who is met with chorus of boos.

He is tired of being overlooked. Two PPVs in a row with no title defense. Kurt informs him that he has a plan for the number one contender with a match involving Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy vs Jason Jordan vs Elias. Miz questions why does Jordan get in? Why not the Miztourage? Miz takes shot at Kurt’s fatherhood and calls him deadbeat.

Out comes Jason Jordan. Jordan suggests adding Miztourage to match to make it fair. Kurt agrees and Miz talks about Kurt again which leads to Jordan clearing the ring. Our main event is set, 6-pack challenge for the number one contender to the IC title at No Mercy.

Back from the break and we see Jason Jordan angrily pacing backstage, Kurt tries to calm him down. Jordan is tired of hearing about the favoritism and says it will stop when he beats Miz down. Kurt wants him to focus on the match and get the win.

ALEXA BLISS VS NIA JAX

Match starts and Alexa immediately running and not a lot of action going on. Alexa circles, slaps Nia and attempts to leave…till she is interrupted by Sasha Banks. While distracted, Nia lays out Alexa and we go to commercial. When we come back, Alexa has the advantage. Nia catches Alexa off the top and turns it into a Samoan Drop…1 2 3 and Nia pins Alexa.

WINNER: NIA JAX

Sasha attacks Nia and Nia takes her out. Bayley music’s hit and she is out to big cheers. Sasha, Alexa and Bayley all take down Nia together… (for some reason Sasha music plays them out) Alexa then tries to make nice with Sasha and Bayley. Match was pretty short, Nia dominating showed that the only way to beat her will be the others working together.

Tribute to Bobby Heenan, tweets by Superstars paying their respects are shown. Video package of Brock v Braun then airs. (Cool clip of Paul E talking about Brock in 2002!)

We come back after commercials to Sheamus talking about nostalgia… but they live in the present and destroy nostalgia acts (ask Hardyz) and Seth and Dean will be next. Their friendship is a fraud and it will crack. “WE ARE THE BAR,” he says.

Rollins music and tag champs come out. When they get in the ring, Gallows and Anderson music plays…good brothers enter the ring call Rollins and Ambrose nerds (big pop from crowd) leading to Dean and Seth clearing the ring and we go to break.

SETH ROLLINS & DEAN AMBROSE VS SHEAMUS & CESARO VS GALLOWS & ANDERSON

Starting with Rollins and Sheamus, SheSaro with early advantage. Dean and Seth dominate the middle of the match, till Cesaro giant swings Dean into the outside barricade. Cesaro near fall on Dean. Seth Rollins buckle bomb on Cesaro, and a near fall which Sheamus breaks up. Dean takes out Cesaro, Gallows tags in, Magic Killer on Seth looking to steal match but Dean breaks up the count. Sheamus and Cesaro take Dean out and throw him into barricade, and we go to commercial.

After break, Sheamus and Cesaro dominate Rollins, wearing Seth down for a while. Sheamus distracts the ref and he misses a Dean tag in. Sheamus and Cesearo with 3D on Rollins, but Gallows breaks up the fall. Cesaro takes out Gallows and Anderson, Rollins is able to counter Cesaro with a DDT and make tag to Ambrose.

Tag champs clear the ring and both perform a suicide dive…twice to take out all 4 men… Rollins and Dean back in control as fans chant “this is awesome.” Gallows and Anderson counter… Sheamus blind tags in Ambrose, Seth dives to take out everyone, and Ambrose hits the Dirty Deeds on Anderson. Sheamus (who is legal) throws out Ambrose and gets the pin on Anderson.

WINNERS: SHEAMUS & CESARO

Very good match. Even though Gallows and Anderson feel thrown in, they had a good showing. Sheamus and Cesaro continue to get better as a team.

Backstage, Miz and Miztourage talk about the main event. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel both make it clear they will not take it easy on him if they win.

Up next we look at Cena vs Reigns

After break there is video package showing Cena in his FCW debut, and Roman in his NXT debut to now. Showing career parallels and the current feud, the video really shows how far ahead Cena is on the microphone… it’s not even close (even showed Cena saying “consider me like a drug test…you can’t pass me”)

In the back, Kurt Angle is on the phone and Goldust is in his office, in Goldust clothes… no face paint, saying he wants Bray again, not as Goldust, but as Dustin. They go back twenty years, and man to man, he wants Bray. Kurt agrees. Tonight Bray will never forget the name…Dustin Rhodes.

Curt Hawkins is in the ring… he is officially closing the star factory. In its place, the CURT HAWKINS HISTORY MACHINE. Tonight, his 114 match losing streak comes to an end (I can’t believe the actually acknowledge this on TV!) Who is gonna make history and break the streak? Apollo Crews (with Titus O’Neal) answers the call.

CURT HAWKINS VS APOLLO CREWS

Back and forth early on Curt with a near fall. Hawkins hits spinebuster, near fall… will streak be broken? Hawkins rolls up Crews with tights, Crews kicks out again. Apollo takes advantage, spin-out powerbomb and gets the pin. Hawkins streak now at 115.

WINNER APOLLO CREWS

Better match than expected, I feel for Hawkins, but everyone has his role, he’s embracing his, and at least he’s on TV, guys with much better records and rarely seen.

After the break, we can an interview with Brock (with Paul) and Braun. Tthey are in separate places. Paul Heyman says Braun will be victimized. Braun says he’s the monster and the only one capable of putting Brock down for Good. Braun says he will walk into Suplex City and stomp it down. Paul says the beast is awakened, and is ready to take Braun Strowman to Suplex City all night long and will beat him within an inch of his life. Heyman talking up Brock, and Brock cuts Paul off. Thanks Braun for backing him into a corner and challenging him, because that’s when he’s at his best and ends the interview with “SUPLEX CITY BITCH”

Brock doesn’t talk often, so it was good to see, shows that he truly feels Braun is a credible threat. After the break, a recap of the earlier action with the women. It is announced that Baylee is added to Women’s title match at No Mercy, now a fatal 5-way.

Roman is out next. Lots of boos for Roman. Says Cena is a good talker, but says Cena says “Stupid $#!T.” He says he doesn’t have to talk, his actions speak for him. Again calls Cena a bitch, and calls him a hypocrite, shows video of Cena calling out The Rock for being a part timer. Roman asks if they should bring Cena out?? But John’s not here, he’s a liar, he’s all talk, and that’s why Cena’s getting beat by another Samoan. “John see you next week, Superstar!”

Backstage Renee Young interviews The Hardyz, The Hardyz say may the best Hardy Win.

Cut to Bray Wyatt entrance, him and Dustin Rhodes will be next.

BRAY WYATT VS DUSTIN RHODES

Dustin starts strong. Good back and forth until Goldust eventually hits the Golden Globes, but Bray is able to counter with Sister Abigail.

WINNER: BRAY WYATT

Music is interrupted by Finn Balor on TitanTron, hyping their match, saying the Man is more dangerous then the Demon.

More tweets about Bobby Heenan from members of the WWE Universe. Now video tribute to “The Brain” airs.

Note: Growing up, Heenan was the ultimate heel, he was the voice of the “bad guys.” He really made me believe that with his help, someone may be able to actually beat Hulk Hogan. There will never be another Brain. RIP to the best manager the business has ever seen, and one of the best commentators as well.

After the break Enzo comes out (big pop as usual). He is number one contender for Cruiserweight title this Sunday…Says he will beat Neville this weekend and then Braun Strowman’s music plays. He runs out and crushes Enzo, throws him into the ring and proceeds to squash him (to “thank you Strowman” chants). Braun delivers a massive chokeslam, and powerslam to Enzo. As Braun is leaving Neville cautiously comes out stays clear of Braun. Neville is here to pick the bones. He comes to an already prone Enzo, and hits “RED ARROW.” He gets on the mic and says, “HOW YOU DOIN?!?!? HAHAHA.” His music plays as we go to break, Neville in action next.

Charly is in the training area with Enzo, Enzo says he will take the title at No Mercy. Gran Metallic has entered the ring to face Neville.

GRAN METALLIC VS NEVILLE

Early back and forth, Neville gets advantage on outside, and rips away Metallic’s mask (his face could clearly be seen). Metallic tries to take advantage and hits a beautiful tope suicida (step up flipping suicide dive). Back in the ring, Metallic attempts a moonsault, gets blocked by Neville and Neville is able to put in the “Rings of Saturn” to get the submission win.

WINNER: NEVILLE

Up next, six-pack challenge to determine number one contender for IC title at No Mercy. Elias is in the ring with his guitar. His song hits on Jordan for being daddy’s boy, before he is interrupted by the Hardyz.

JEFF HARDY VS MATT HARDY VS CURTIX AXEL VS BO DALLAS VS JASON JORDAN VS ELIAS

Bell rings, everyone pairs off till only Matt and Jeff are left in the ring. Jeff attempts to roll up Matt, and Matt kicks out as we go to break. Back from the break, all six men are in the ring, no clear leader at this point. After some more back and forth, we end up with a tower of doom (Miztourage superplexing Jason Jordan while Hardyz powerbomb them). Elias tries to steal a win but it’s quickly broken up. Matt Hardy hits a side effect on Jeff and goes for the cover but it is broken up by Bo Dallas.

The Miztourage have taken control of the match, but Jason Jordan refuses to stay down. He takes out The Miztourage and hits the rolling northern lights suplex into a bridge for an attempted cover on Axel but Bo Dallas breaks up the pin. On the outside, Miz takes Jordan out throwing him into and over the barricade. In the ring, Matt hits the Twist of Fate on Dallas and goes for the pin but Elias breaks up the cover. Elias with Drift Away to Matt, but Jeff breaks up the cover. Jeff clears the ring, and hits Twist of Fate on Axel and lands a Swanton Bomb, but the Miz breaks up the count.

Jeff Hardy gets rid of The Miz, and gets taken out by Axel. While distracted, Jason Jordan comes up from behind and lands his side suplex to Neck breaker for the 1-2-3!

WINNER: JASON JORDAN

After the match, Miz tries to cheap shot Jordan but is met with a pair of belly-to-belly suplexes. The Miztourage gets the upper hand and they beat down Jordan setting him up for the Skull Crushing Finale from The Miz. He gets a mic and tells Jordan after No Mercy, he will still be “champ,” Kurt will still be a “terrible father,” and Jordan will still “be a bastard!” Miz music hits as Raw ends with Miztourage standing over Jordan.

NOTES: After not being defended at Summerslam it was nice to see The Miz end the go home raw standing tall.

Overall, a decent last Raw before the PPV, noticeably missing were Brock Lesnar (appeared, via satellite) and John Cena. The rest of the RAW roster stepped up and the six-pack challenge match was entertaining (albeit a bit predictable)

The women’s title match seems to just keep adding and adding more and more competitors hopefully they will have the time to show what they can do at the PPV.

The Good Brothers continue to show how good they are and hopefully after No Mercy they aren’t just forgotten about. Next week we will have all the fallout from No Mercy, and we will answer a couple questions: Whose yard is it really? And was “the Monster” able to conquer “The Beast”?

WWE pays tribute to Bobby “The Brain” Heenan on Raw

WWE paid tribute to Bobby “The Brain” Heenan last night on Monday Night Raw with a 3-minute video showcasing the funniest moments from his career and other segments throughout the broadcast.

Raw opened with an in memoriam graphic and then the tribute video played later in the show to the audience at home and live in the arena.

Heenan passed away on Sunday at 72 years of age, just a month and a half shy from his 73rd birthday, after a long battle with throat cancer. His passing sparked a wave of condolences from his former colleagues who all had nothing but good things to say about Heenan.

WWE also filmed several sit-down interviews with many talent backstage prior to Raw for an upcoming tribute show which will air on the WWE Network.

You can see the video below.

Bayley returns, added to No Mercy PPV title match

Former NXT and Raw Women’s champion Bayley returned on Raw last night a month and a half after suffering a shoulder injury.

Bayley defeated Sasha Banks on Raw in late July to earn the number one contender spot at SummerSlam against Alexa Bliss, however she got injured the following week on Raw when she wrestled Nia Jax. Banks went on to SummerSlam to face Bliss and eventually won the title, only to lose it the following week.

Yesterday, the former champ came out to help Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss fend off Nia Jax before the two friends attacked Bliss. Later on in the broadcast, she was added to the No Mercy Raw Women’s title match which is now a fatal 5-way match also including Bliss, Banks, Jax, and Emma.

Jim Cornette not appearing at Bound For Glory 2017

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Jim Cornette will not be appearing at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view as expected and he is done with the company.

Cornette cannot enter Canada due to his record and with Bound For Glory being in Ottawa, it makes his presence at the show impossible. Cornette said that he decided to come in and help at the request of Jeff Jarrett and they all agreed that he would work up until the BFG pay-per-view and the following set of tapings.

With Jeff Jarrett out of the picture, his status was pretty much up in the air and hosting the event in Canada was the cherry on the cake. Meltzer adds that Cornette has offered to do any filming in Nashville to wrap up his storyline.

Paige back at the WWE Performance Center

WWE Superstar Paige returned to the WWE Performance Center to resume training following neck surgery.

“Went to see an old friend today. Good to be back there,” Paige wrote in an Instagram post along with a photo of the WWE PC. She also used the hashtag #RoadBackToMyHouse.

Paige has been out of action for 13 months so far, getting suspended twice for Wellness Program violations and then taking time off to go under the knife. In the meantime, she kept getting in the news for all the wrong reasons, first after her collection of private photos and videos made their way online and then because of her many arguments with her fiancee Alberto El Patron.

Paige should thank her lucky stars that WWE is producing a movie on her family along with The Rock’s Seven Buck Productions because otherwise she would have been pink slipped a long time ago considering her actions and behavior. The airport incident with El Patron could have resulted in her getting fired anyway after Orlando police found enough evidence to prosecute her for domestic violence, however El Patron decided not to press charges.

Cody and Brandi Rhodes sound off on the returning Starrcade

The resurrection of Starrcade as a – currently – non-televised live event on November 25 has sparked a reaction from the Rhodes family, particular Cody and his wife Brandi. The Starrcade event was the brainchild of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.

In a tweet addressed to Michael PS Hayes, Cody Rhodes said that if he was afraid that the regular non-televised event won’t sell because it falls on Thanksgiving weekend and they want one of his dad’s events, “at least book Goldy,” he wrote, referring to his brother Goldust.

Meanwhile, Cody’s wife and former Raw ring announcer Brandi Rhodes had a harsher tone. “Starrcade was created and delivered by Dusty Rhodes. WWE didn’t want to do it while he was here. Now they want to do it and not give credit?” The tweet did not go down well with fans who wondered what credit he should get and to wait before speaking since it was just announced.

“Say what you want. I stated a fact. If you can’t handle it go to hell. I’m not going to shut up because the truth’s uncomfortable,” Brandi fired back.

Meanwhile, Michael PS Hayes responded to Cody’s request with a tweet of his own, telling him that he’s right and they should have Goldust on the show. He then had a proposition for Cody. “By the way, what are you doing that night? Wanna team with your brother?”

Nikki Bella on Dancing With The Stars starting tonight on ABC

WWE Superstar Nikki Bella will start her Dancing With The Stars journey tonight on ABC as the season 25 premiere kicks off at 8PM ET.

Nikki is paired up with Russian-American professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev as #TeamSmackdown. The phone number to vote for Nikki and Artem is 1-800-868-3409. The former WWE Divas champion will be competing against celebrities and athletes such as Victoria Arlen, former NFL star Terrell Owens, Property Brothers’ Drew Scott, Pretty Little Liars alum Sasha Pieterse, Nick and Vanessa Lachey, and others.

She is the third WWE Superstar to be invited on the show following Stacy Keibler and Chris Jericho.

GFW name nowhere to be seen on Bound For Glory press release

One very obvious omission from the Bound For Glory pay-per-view press release was the Global Force Wrestling name or the initials GFW as the PR referenced to the company name as Impact Wrestling.

The GFW initials are also missing from the Bound For Glory logo, with GFW replaced at the top with just Impact. In the press release, the current champion Eli Drake is also referenced as just World Champion. The PR starts with “Impact Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp,” instead of Global Force Wrestling.

In late June, Anthem announced that TNA would be rebranded as Global Force Wrestling after Jeff Jarrett agreed to sell the company. However, that deal is said not to be finalized and with Jeff Jarrett sent home on indefinite leave due to personal issues, it’s likely that Anthem will revert to the Impact brand as the overall name.

At the last television tapings, the company also introduced new titles which sport the Global Force Wrestling logo front and center.

Bound For Glory 2017 to take place in Ottawa at the Aberdeen Pavilion

Anthem Sports and Entertainment today announced that Bound For Glory will be broadcast from the Aberdeen Pavilion in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

The Aberdeen Pavilion will also play host to five days of IMPACT television tapings from November 6 to November 10. Ticket on-sale information for Bound for Glory and Impact tapings will be revealed in the coming weeks.

“We are ecstatic and honored to bring our blockbuster event Bound for Glory to a Canadian venue rooted in cultural heritage and tradition,” said Ed Nordholm, president of IMPACT Wrestling. “Our loyal Canadian viewers on Fight Network and GameTV have been vocal supporters of IMPACT Wrestling over the years and we thought the nation’s capital would be a fitting place to stage our biggest event of the year. Canadian professional wrestling crowds have a reputation for their energy and enthusiasm, so we are excited to bring them an unforgettable night of action.”

Located in Lansdowne Park, the historic fairgrounds of Canada’s national capital, the 33,000-square foot Aberdeen Pavilion is an Ottawa landmark, which has been home to many significant events throughout the city’s history, including Stanley Cup challenge matches in 1904. Built in 1898 and inspired by London’s Crystal Palace, the venue was designated a national historic site of Canada because it is the only large-scale exhibition building in Canada surviving from the 19th century.

WWE bringing back Starrcade to the Greensboro Coliseum on November 25

The Greensboro Coliseum is advertising WWE Starrcade for November 25, which so far is a Saturday night non-televised live event.

Starrcade was WCW’s premiere pay-per-view event for 18 long years and the Greensboro Coliseum hosted four of them, including the first one titled A Flair for the Gold. That event had Harley Race vs Ric Flair in a steel cage match for the NWA World Heavyweight title.

In a tribute to that, WWE will also be holding not one, but two steel cage matches on the night at the same venue.

So far the line up includes Jinder Mahal vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title in a steel cage match, Natalya vs Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s title in a steel cage match, AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin vs Rusev in a triple threat for the United States title, The New Day vs The Usos in a Texas Tornado match for the Smackdown Tag Team titles, Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler vs Bobby Roode.

Also scheduled to appear are The Hardy Boyz, Rock ’n’ Roll Express, Ricky Steamboat, and others.

The last Starrcade pay-per-view was held in December 2000 in Washington, DC with Scott Steiner vs Sid Vicious for the WCW in the main event.

It’s not known if this event will be turned into a WWE Network special. The Survivor Series will be held a week before on November 19.

Tickets for Starrcade will be available starting Friday, September 29 at 10AM ET at Ticketmaster.com.
