The Survivor Series is headlined by the Universal champion taking on the WWE champion as Roman Reigns battles Big E. Reigns, rarely the underdog, is once again favorite in this match with his odds at 1/5 while Big E is at 3/1 for the win.

In more champions vs champions matches, Raw Tag Team champions RK-Bro are 7/10 favorites to defeat the Smackdown Tag Team champions The Usos who are 1/1 while United States champion Damian Priest is favorite at 1/9 to beat the Intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamura who is at 17/4.

The two Survivor Series traditional five-on-five matches has the men’s Smackdown team the favorites to beat their Raw counterparts with 7/25 and 23/10 odds respectively while the Raw women’s team is favorite at 11/25 against Smackdown’s women’s team which is at 8/5.

The 25-man battle royal has both AJ Styles and Omos as joint favorites with 3/1 odds each while Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Jinder Mahal make up the top five with 4/1, 5/1, and 7/1 odds respectively.

Sheamus joins men’s Smackdown Survivor Series team

Former WWE champion Sheamus, who just returned to action following broken nose surgery, joined the men’s Smackdown Survivor Series team last night, taking the last spot available.

Sheamus won a fatal four-way match which also featured Cesaro, Jinder Mahal, and Ricochet to secure his spot and needed some assistance from Ridge Holland to win the match.

The open spot was made available after Sami Zayn was kicked out of the match after he lost to Jeff Hardy last week. The full team now includes Drew McIntyre as team captain, Hardy, Xavier Woods, Baron Corbin, and now the Celtic Warrior. They will take on Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Austin Theory, and Bobby Lashley.

Winter is Coming returning as special Dynamite event next month

AEW is bringing back the Winter is Coming special episode of Dynamite in December which will be live from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas on the 15th.

Last year’s Winter is Coming episode was a major hit, with Kenny Omega winning the AEW World title from Jon Moxley and the debut of the one and only Sting.

AEW President Tony Khan also wrote that new details on the Owen Hart Cup tournament would be revealed that day.

“Thanks to you great wrestling fans around the world + the generosity of Dr. Martha Hart, on Wednesday 12/15 Winter is Coming #AEWDynamite, we’ll have more info including schedule for the highly anticipated Owen Hart Cup,” Khan tweeted after Rampage went off the air.

From boxers to cops – the stars who’ve taken a roundabout route to wrestling

THERE are many professional wrestlers who’ve started out chasing their dreams of glory in another sport, or even combining another profession with their work in the ring.

Here we take a look at some of the wrestling stars that started have come through the ranks elsewhere, and some that combine wrestling with another role entirely. The overview presented by the Offers Bet, sports betting deals aggregator.

Anthony Ogogo

An Olympic boxing medalist and seemingly on the brink of a middleweight world title fight, Ogogo suffered a fractured eye socket in 2016 that led to multiple operations, and an eventual decision to retire from the sport three years later. With no desire to turn his back completely on the fight world, he turned to a sport he loved as a child, the wrestling bug dating back to when he watched the 2000 Royal Rumble. His influences included fellow Olympian Kurt Angle, and he made his debut in March 2021 in a bout where he aligned himself with QT Marshall to take on Cody Rhodes and Lee Johnson in a tag match on Dynamite. Unfortunately, since then he has been forced to undergo further eye surgery.

Junior Dos Santos

Junior Dos Santos is a former UFC world heavyweight champion – ironically defeating Cain Velasquez, who also switched from UFC to wrestling, for the title – before the Brazilian lost it back to Velasquez. In 2021, Dos Santos was released from his UFC contract after losing four fights in a row, before making his AEW debut aligned with Dan Lambert. Known for delivering knockouts with a big right hand, it appears he’s not finished there and has spoken about a potential move into the boxing world, signing up with SJAM Boxing, the organisation that has guided Joe Joyce to the brink of a world title shot.

Mustafa Ali

While switching from one fighting sport to another is not uncommon, switching from vowing to ‘protect and serve’ to vowing to crush and defeat is another. Mustafa Ali was a serving police office in the Chicago suburbs before he signed with WWE, initially fighting on the independent circuit while upholding law and order on the Homewood streets. He has spoken of how he would take the midnight shifts so he could continue wrestling at the 9pm and 10pm bouts, often turning up battered and bruised straight from a fight. When quizzed by his boss when he turned up late for a shift looking particularly dishevelled, he claimed to be learning to box, fearing that the truth would lead to disciplinary action. His commanding officer declared: “You must be one terrible boxer,” which may have been true, but he is one great wrestler.

Britt Baker

While many wrestlers threaten to remove various parts of their opponents’ bodies, Britt Baker is legally allowed to do just that – outside of the ring! The qualified dentist is also one of the biggest names on the AEW circuit and while her Florida practice explains that ‘warmth and compassion is apparent from the first time you meet her’, try telling that to Abadon, or the countless rivals who’ve been on the wrong end of a lockjaw, or one of her other signature moves. She loves wrestling and clearly still loves dentistry, recently saying: “Dentistry keeps me grounded and I can be a dentist when I’m 70 years old if I want to. I consider myself to be a full-time wrestler and a part-time dentist”

Charlotte avoids Lynch subject during interview: “Number one doesn’t talk about number two”

In her first interview since Becky Lynch opened the floodgates on the MMA Hour this week, Smackdown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair appeared on The Masked Man show to do some WWE promotion but also steered away from talking openly about what happened with Becky, saying she feels like she’s the only adult in the room and doesn’t want to use these promotional interviews to dump on other people.

Flair said that she has been on top for six years and knows the pressure and criticism that comes along with it but she said she stayed true to herself, acknowledging that she wouldn’t be where she is today without the likes of Nikki Bella, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley who helped her along the way.

Indirectly talking about Lynch and avoid the subject, Flair said, “Well, number one doesn’t talk about number two,” and said that she’s an easy target and has been an easy target since day one because there’s a lot that comes along with carrying the Flair name.

“I am also a human being,” Charlotte said, adding that for the past several years, the audience has been told that she’s entitled, she’s Ric’s daughter, she’s a 12-time champion etc. “Ashley, the human, just wants to live her dream for her brother and succeed, and I think people can’t turn that off,” she continued.

She repeated the fact that she’s in this business not because of her father, but because of her brother and no other reason. “The reason I don’t put down others is because I know what it’s like to be torn down every single day. Every single day, someone wants to take away my success,” Flair said, mentioning how people often say that success was handed to her or she won because she’s Ric Flair’s daughter.

“No one can accept the fact that if my last name wasn’t Flair, I would still be the best athlete in this company, man or woman. It’s not even close, but I still live with that every single day. I don’t take down somebody else’s success to make myself bigger or feel better,” Flair continued.

Less than 50% of tickets sold for two-night WrestleMania 38 so far

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE has sold around 75,000 tickets in total for WrestleMania 38 so far, and that number is for both days.

For WrestleMania 32 a few years ago, WWE sold nearly 81,000 tickets and announced an audience of over 100,000 in the same location and since this is spread over two days, WWE is not even half-way there for each day. Apart from that, large sections on one side of the stadium are not even open for sale yet as thousands of tickets, some even running in the thousands of dollars, are still available for purchase.

Meltzer says that ticket sales is about the same for both nights, suggesting that those attending the first night will also attend the second night.

Selling-out the AT&T Stadium is a big ask for one night, let alone for two consecutive nights. It will take some big names and a huge main event to move an additional 90,000 tickets for the weekend and considering the way WWE programming is going right now, that looks like to be a very, very big mountain to climb.

This year, tickets are being sold by SeatGeek.com and prices are more expensive than previous years.

Toni Storm joins the women Smackdown Survivor Series team

Former NXT UK Women’s champion Toni Storm has been added to the women’s Smackdown Survivor Series team, replacing Aliyah who was yanked from the match last week by Sonya Deville.

The announcement came by Deville herself in a tweet, saying that she wants to ensure that each brand is represented by the best and brightest Superstars. “Therefore, it’s my pleasure to announce that TONI STORM will be the fifth and final member of the #Smackdown Women’s team. Congrats and good luck on Sunday!”

Storm now joins team captain Sasha Banks, Shayna Baszler, Natalya and Shotzi as they take on the Raw team captained by Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Zelina Vega, and Rhea Ripley.

The men’s Smackdown team still has one member to be announced.

Paul Heyman says AEW is a viable entity and “God bless them for being there”

In a one-on-one interview with Ariel Helwani, Paul Heyman was asked how he feels about All Elite Wrestling and if they’re viable.

“How do I feel? Oh they’re viable. They’re are a viable entity and God bless them for being there,” Heyman said without mincing his words.

Asked if he likes their product, Heyman continued, “I’m not the audience so my personal opinion on their product…who cares what I think! They’re not geared towards me.”

Heyman said that if he says AEW sucks, they as a company shouldn’t care just like WWE didn’t care when UFC President Dana White gave his not-so-flattering opinion on WWE a while back.

“Who gives a f*ck? I don’t think AEW should give a f*ck about what I think about them. They should think what their fans, what they’re audience, and what they’re potential audience thinks,” Heyman continued.

The former Raw Executive Director closed by saying that AEW should find people who love WWE and try to lure them over to their tribe and find people who have never seen sports entertainment or professional wrestling and lure them over.

“What Paul Heyman thinks of them should be of no concern to them,” he said.

The best wrestlers currently not in WWE

The WWE has had a huge amount of popularity over the years. Of course, the foundation of this success comes from the organization’s biggest stars. The likes of John Cena, The Rock, and Brock Lesnar all became household names over the years. From here, the WWE attracted and retained fans through great shows and superb talent.

Wrestling is one of the most popular sports in the world. With its biggest fanbase being American, it is no surprise to see that many of the best athletes in the sport originate from there. However, not every great wrestler ends up in the WWE. Some will fight in other wrestling organizations, while others use their skills for the likes of MMA. With that considered, who are the best wrestlers currently not in WWE? Considering these are active athletes, the likes of John Cena have been omitted.

CM Punk

CM Punk is probably one of the best-known wrestlers to ever grace the sport. In his prime, he was one of the most prolific and entertaining people in the WWE. However, he now competes in All Elite Wrestling. CM Punk was one of the most talented wrestlers of his generation. This is a major contributing factor in his life’s success. However, his stardom and success spread much further than just the wrestling mat. He also ventured into the likes of acting. He made his on-screen debut in the 2019 horror Girl on the Third Floor, and has also appeared in the likes of Heels. Punk also tried his hand at mixed martial arts for a short period of time. However, a two-fight UFC career did not live up to expectations as he was defeated both times. Despite this, he will go down as one of the most talented to ever do it. Although you cannot bet on him inside the cage anymore, you can fulfill your gambling needs through the likes of casino Australia.

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega is a Canadian-born wrestler. Making his debut over 20 years ago, he is still one of the best to witness in the world of wrestling. He competes in the wrestling organization All Elite Wrestling, similarly to CM Punk. However, he is also a vice president of the company. However, his performances are not confined to this organization as he has also appeared in the wrestling company Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Despite being 38, he is still one of the best wrestlers competing outside of WWE.

Will Ospreay

When it comes to wrestling, the country of England isn’t that widely represented. However, one of their biggest stars is, without a doubt, Will Ospreay. At the age of just 28, he has already had an extremely impressive career and looks to be in for a promising future. Ospreay currently competes in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he once was an IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. He also competes in the organization’s sister company, Revolution Pro Wrestling. Here, he is the current British Heavyweight Champion.

Dynamite rating for 11/17/2021

The fallout from Full Gear episode of Dynamite did 984,000 viewers this week, up 71,000 viewers from last week’s broadcast. This was the best number since the October 6 episode although it’s now six weeks that the show has failed to break a million again. Dynamite was #3 in the top 50 cable chart among the 18-49 with a 0.37 rating, up 0.02 from last week. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

Taya Valkyrie: WWE doesn’t care about its talent or fans

Taya Valkyrie, who up until a few weeks ago performed under the name of Franky Monet on NXT, gave WWE a piece of her mind following the latest round of cuts which also included her husband John Morrison.

“Stop supporting a company that has ZERO respect for their talent,” Valkyrie wrote on her Twitter following the news. “You love pro wrestling, spend your money on the hundreds of other alternatives. This is wrong.”

Valkyrie added that ethically, as employers, WWE doesn’t care about its talent or fans, going full-on nuclear on the company following both of their releases. She was cut just nine months into her WWE stint and after arriving with much fanfare, she did not appear much on NXT television.

When asked by someone on Twitter why is she saying this about WWE, she replied, “My husband got fired. This is why I’m saying this. I’m speaking my truth. I’m sick and tired of ppl treating us like shit. In two weeks we lost both our incomes. Before the holidays, I’m allowed to feel how I do.”

WWE has released some of its top Superstars this year, with close to 100 individuals being cut during 2021. The company has said that these cuts were due to budget cuts even though they have been posting record profits every quarter.

Eight more WWE Superstars from main roster released

The slaughtering at WWE continued with eight more main roster cuts yesterday, including some surprising names.

Those who got the unfortunate news include John Morrison, all three remaining members of Hit Row which include Ashante Adonis, Isiah “Swerve” Scott, and Top Dolla, Drake Maverick, Shane Thorne, Jaxson Ryker, and Tegan Nox.

Perhaps the most surprising are Hit Row, who got called up from NXT just weeks ago. But the writing was on the wall when B-Fab was released in the last round of cuts, splitting up the group.

The firing of John Morrison also caught some by surprise considering he’s a solid worker but unfortunately was on the wrong end of some timing when The Miz was chosen to go on Dancing With The Stars, cutting their feud short.

This is the second time that Drake Maverick got fired by WWE. When he got cut during the pandemic, he made a passionate video and was kept around, mainly thanks to fans who rallied behind him.

Dwayne Johnson’s Red Notice movie breaks records for Netflix

Dwayne Johnson’s newest movie on Netflix, titled Red Notice, broke records for the giant streaming service, with over 148.7 million hours watched in the first week, becoming the most-watched movie ever on Netflix in its first weekend.

In the new Netflix rankings, Red Notice was also the #1 movie in 94 countries, taking over in five continents. For comparison, the #2 movie was Love Hard, and now in its second week, it had 58.5 million hours viewed.

Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot join Johnson in the main cast and the movie follows Johnson as an FBI agent who reluctantly teams up with a renowned art thief, played by Reynolds, in order to catch an even more notorious criminal, played by Gadot. Red Notice cost Netflix $200 million to produce, another record.

Ric Flair responds to Becky Lynch after she calls his tweet “sad”

Addressing a Ric Flair tweet where he said he’ll personally go to Survivor Series to see if Becky Lynch can really match up to his daughter, Becky told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour yesterday that she found the tweet “sad.”

The Nature Boy wrote that there’s not enough choreography in the business” to save her and Becky admitted she had a pretty good tweet as a reply but decided against posting it.

“This is a legend at one point. A 16-time world champion. And now Ric Flair is jealous of me? And that’s cool. It’s cool for me,” Lynch told Helwani. “I looked at it [the tweet] and I wrote out a response that would have really been quite biting,” she continued. “I deleted it and I let it go, because I think it’s really sad.”

Lynch’s biting response was probably in relation to Flair’s latest troubles which popped up when the Dark Side of the Ring episode from the Plane Ride from Hell aired.

Lynch said that Ric is now trying to use her to promote “whatever he has going on next” simply because he dug himself into a hole with other issues.

Flair did not take long to respond and said that he was so disappointed with her, attaching a screenshot of a story when he sold the rights to “The Man” to WWE.

“I did this out of respect for you. It made you millions & made me nothing,” Ric wrote. “After 40 years of being The Man… the company doesn’t own it, and neither do you! I’ll always be The Man! Ask your husband.”

Flair added that he’s done defending his legacy and appreciates everyone’s hard work and will respect everyone’s opinion to agree or disagree. “All I can say is the paper trail is always the be all and end all.”

Tribute to the Troops 2021 rating

The Tribute to the Troops special on FOX this past Sunday drew a surprising 2,030,000 viewers and a healthy 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic. FOX affiliates aired the show during different times but was mostly tagged with NFL programming. (Ratings credit: Wrestlenomics)
