Former TNA and AEW star Rebel reveals lung cancer diagnosis

Former TNA and AEW star Rebel announced on social media that she was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Sharing the news in a video and obviously emotional about it, the 47-year-old said that she has been feeling sick for over a year and decided to head to the Mayo Clinic to see if she can get treated there for what she thought was cryptococcal pneumonia.

Much to her surprise, doctors told her she’s not suffering from that, but rather it’s pulmonary lymphoma, which is cancer in the lungs.

“And if there is a best case scenario then I have it so that’s good,” she said.

Rebel, real name Tanya Brooks, added that she is starting full-time rehab tomorrow for a disorder that she developed called functional neurological disorder, which took away her ability to walk, affected her speech, and lost some function in her right hand.

“I now walk with a walker and my ability to speak clearly, I don’t know if you can tell, but it sounds like I bit my tongue,” she continued.

She also is suffering from an infection and her cancer treatment cannot start until the antibiotics prescribed for her infection do the work. She is targeting December to undergo a bronchoscopy to determine what kind of treatment she needs and hopes that in January she can start tackling the cancer.

Rebel has not wrestled for AEW since 2021.

Mone vs Velvet to unify ROH Women’s TV title set for Dynamite

One of Mercedes Mone’s titles, the interim ROH Women’s Television title, will be unified on Dynamite next week as proper champ Red Velvet is cleared to compete.

Velvet was injured in June and instead of stripping her off the title, Tony Khan preferred to crown an interim champion until she gets back. Mina Shirakawa won that interim title but lost it at WrestleDream to Mercedes Mone.

Now Mone can hold on to the title next week as she faces Velvet on Dynamite or else she goes back to 12 titles, with the possibility of #13 coming again at Full Gear.

If she retains on Wednesday and wins at Full Gear, she would have 14 title belts across multiple promotions and countries.

Grayson Waller trolls fans at live event in Chicago coming out to CM Punk’s music

NXT held a sold-out non-televised live event at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois yesterday and one particular start decided to play a little game with the fans.

Just before the main event started, CM Punk’s “Cult of Personality” hit the speakers, sending the crowd crazy. But it was not Punk who came out from the back, but rather Grayson Waller.

Waller imitated Punk’s entrance moves as cheers turned into massive boos for the Australian who looked rather proud of himself for pulling one over the fans.

Waller was part of the main event match which included Je’Von Evans, JD McDonagh, and NXT champion Ricky Saints in a fatal four-way.

Several main roster stars were part of this show as well.

Matt Cardona signs merchandise deal with WWE

Matt Cardona has signed a merchandise contract with WWE, allowing the company to promote and market apparel under the Zack Ryder name.

Cardona however has not signed a deal with WWE to return to the company, and continues to do his own thing on the independent scene.

Zack Ryder merchandise popped up on WWE Shop immediately following his Smackdown appearance where he lost to LA Knight in The Last Time Is Now tournament. It was his first time as Zack Ryder in a WWE ring since 2020.

“This might be a one time shot, I might get the call tomorrow, but it doesn’t matter because I’m Zack Ryder and I’m always ready,” Cardona said in a post-match interview published on WWE’s YouTube. “And I guess I can say this: Woo woo woo, you know it.”

Smackdown moving back to 3 hours in January 2026

The @WrestleVotes X account is reporting that Smackdown is moving back to three hours starting from the first episode of 2026.

The move to three hours, which was very unpopular when it was done earlier this year, ended in July when USA Network added a new show in the 10PM time slot.

In a recent talk, Paul “Triple H” Levesque described as Smackdown being two hours for half of the year and three hours for the other half of the year, and while people thought he meant that for this year, it looks like it will be a yearly thing.

The show has suffered greatly in quality over the past few months, many attributing the decline to head writer Brian “Road Dogg” James, who is now leading the show.

Mercedes Mone wins 13th title at HOG event

Mercedes Mone won her 13th title last night at the House of Glory Superclash event held in Brentwood, New York, defeating Nor “Phoenix” Diana to add the APAC Women’s title to her ever-growing collection.

Diana was the one who challenged Mone a few months ago when she started collecting titles, and this title change ends the Malaysian’s impressive 1,070-day reign as champion for the Malaysian promotion.

Mone now has a chance for #14, and probably her biggest one of the collection, when she battles Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s title next week at Full Gear.

Mone’s only loss so far since coming to AEW has been against Toni Storm at All In: Texas, failing to get the AEW Women’s title back then.

Tony Khan says he talked to NWA’s Billy Corgan over AEW National Championship

During a live feed on X, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that he recently had a conversation with Billy Corgan, who heads up the NWA, over the creation of the AEW National Championship.

NWA has the original National championship and when AEW announced the creation of the title, it ruffled some feathers.

“I have a lot of respect for him and a lot of respect for what he’s doing,” Khan said. “I really love the traditions of pro wrestling and I had a really nice talk with Billy and we hadn’t talked in a long time so I think it was good for him to hear this.”

Khan added that while he respects Corgan and the NWA, AEW is trying to do something completely different with the National Championship which will be defended across multiple promotions once the inaugural winner is determined at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view.

A Casino Gauntlet match at Full Gear will crown the inaugural AEW National champion.

WWE moving to Netflix in Philippines in January 2026

Fans in the Philippines will be able to start enjoying all of the WWE programming on Netflix starting January 2026.

WWE currently airs on TAP Sports in the country and that media rights deal will come to an end at the end of this year, paving the way for Netflix to take over.

All future WWE international TV rights which are ending will not be renewed and instead are moving to Netflix as part of their worldwide agreement.

France and Belgium are also moving to Netflix in January 2026 as the agreement with broadcaster AB1 is coming to a close as well.

There are still a handful of countries around the world where WWE airs on local channels and the WWE Network was kept alive solely for those countries.

Traditional five-on-five match added to Smackdown before Survivor Series

Survivor Series 2025

A traditional five-on-five Survivor Series match was announced for the Smackdown on the eve of Survivor Series.

Set up on Smackdown, Sami Zayn will captain his team along with The Motor City Machine Guns, Rey Fenix, and Shinsuke Nakamura to take on Solo Sikoa, Talla Tonga, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo.

The original Survivor Series concept consisted of five-on-five or four-on-four teams in an elimination match, with the match continuing until each member of one team is completely eliminated.

You have to go back to 2021 for the last traditional Survivor Series match taking place on the PLE as the following year, WarGames was introduced as the main gimmick for the show.

NXT stars crash the TNA Turning Point event

Turning Point

NXT stars gatecrashed the TNA Turning Point event last night at Full Sail University, leaving carnage at the end of the broadcast.

After the main event was over, Nic Nemeth came out to cash in his Call Your Shot trophy but all of a sudden, he was knocked out by a huge clothesline from Brooks Jensen. Several NXT stars, including Charlie Dempsey, Lexis King, Mr. Stone, Stacks Lorenzo, Tyson DuPont and Tyriek Igwe, then hit the ring and beat up on Santana, Steve Maclin, and TNA champion Frankie Kazarian.

TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella then tried to restore order but Mr. Stone ordered Jensen to attack Marella as well, with the show going off the air with NXT stars standing tall.

NXT stars also invaded the live episode of Impact on Thursday.

Zack Ryder returns to WWE ring in The Last Time Is Now tournament

Last Time Is Now Tournament

Matt Cardona returned to WWE under the Zack Ryder name for the first time in 5 years, coming out as the surprise entrant in The Last Time Is Now tournament against LA Knight.

The crowd gave him a huge pop as soon as the “Woo Woo Woo” aired on the house speakers and the self-proclaimed god of independent wrestling came out, soaking up the atmosphere.

Corey Graves put over Cardona big time on commentary, saying this is not the same man who left WWE years ago and went on to reinvent himself on the indie scene, wrestling the biggest names in the industry who are not in WWE.

Unfortunately for the Long Island native, the result of the match did not go his way, but that does not mean it was not a win for Cardona, who showed everyone why they need to be “alwayz ready.”

Posing with Cardona backstage for a photo, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque wrote, “You never know who might show up in The Last Time Is Now Tournament. It’s all about opportunity and @TheMattCardona proved that tonight.”

His wife, Chelsea Green, was obviously proud of her man and added, “What a day to be Zack Ryders wife!”

Jimmy Uso and Drew McIntyre join WarGames teams

A fourth member of CM Punk’s team at WarGames was unveiled last night on Smackdown: Jimmy Uso.

The former WWE Tag Team champion will now join his brother Jey, Punk, and Cody Rhodes in the team as they take on The Vision in the steel cage match.

One more team mate remains to be added for Punk’s team, with many expecting it to be Roman Reigns due to his involvement with The Vision already.

Meanwhile, speaking of The Vision, Paul Heyman told Nick Aldis that he is free to pick anyone from any brand to join his team. At the end of the broadcast, the suspended Drew McIntyre ran in to help The Vision dismantle Rhodes and The Usos, suggesting that McIntyre is now the fourth member for this WarGames match.

This also leaves one empty spot for the heels to join McIntyre, Paul, Reed, and Breakker.

The 31-year-old spent five years in WWE as part of the NXT brand but was released last month, clearing the way for a reunion with Zachary Wentz, Trey Miguel, and Myron Reed.

The high-flyer even picked up the win for his team in the eight-man tag match against The System last night at Full Sail University.

Prior to joining WWE, Xavier spent three years with TNA.

Charlotte Flair abandons team mates ahead of WarGames match

It looks like Charlotte Flair will not be involved in the women’s WarGames match, at least that is the impression she gave yesterday on Smackdown.

In the opening segment of the show, Flair informed Bliss, Iyo Sky, and Rhea Ripley that she cannot pretend to do this anymore. She referred to Ripley as a snake and told her she couldn’t trust her and was not in a position to put that aside, even with a common enemy.

Addressing Bliss, Flair said that Alexa is her friend but regardless, she couldn’t go to WarGames with the three of them and then simply walked out, leaving the babyface team with just three members.

Mike Santana goes AWOL from TNA following world title loss

PWInsider.com is reporting that Mike Santana is not in the building yet for the Turning Point TNA+ event set for tonight following his TNA World title loss yesterday to Frankie Kazarian.

The site also adds that Santana missed the meet and greet session that followed yesterday’s live Impact and has also failed to respond to calls or text messages from TNA.

Santana surprisingly lost the TNA title just a month after he won it at Bound For Glory after spending months chasing the title. He had just defended the title against Ryan Nemeth on the show when NXT stars interfered, causing the DQ win. Kazarian then cashed in his Call Your Shot trophy and beat him with a roll-up.

Santana was supposed to team up with Steve Maclin tonight to take on Frankie Kazarian and Nic Nemeth in a tag team match.
