TMZ claims that Sting’s wrestling career is over

TMZ.COM is reporting that Sting has decided to call an end to his in-ring wrestling career due to the severity of his neck injury.

TMZ says that Sting may announce the decision at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which he is headlining, although the decision has already been taken to retire. Sources say that Sting is open to remaining with WWE in a different capacity although there’s no formal offer on the table just yet.

The former WCW and TNA champion took the advice of different doctors who all came to one conclusion: that continuing wrestling is not in his best interest and it’s considered too risky.

Sting was injured at the Night of Champions pay-per-view this past September when wrestling Seth Rollins. The injury occurred when Rollins power bombed Sting into the turnbuckle and he landed badly on his neck, a move that has now ended his career. Although Sting continued to wrestle for a bit after the move, he dropped after running the ropes when his legs gave out. Sting was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, the same condition that Edge had when he retired.

Total Divas season 5 episode 9 rating

The latest episode of Total Divas, episode 9 of season 5 titled Rocky Road to Recovery, drew 650,000 viewers, which is 70,000 viewers more from last week. Despite the increase in numbers, it’s still well below the average of 800,000 viewers the show has been doing in the beginning of the season. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

No surgery required for Neville

While Neville will be missing his spot at WrestleMania, the former NXT champion will at least not be required to undergo surgery to repair his ankle fracture, an injury he suffered on Raw this week.

“Neville had some repeat testing done in Orlando which included X-Rays and a CAT scan of his ankle,” Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. “Upon further review, it has been determined that surgical repair of the ankle would not be necessary. Instead, he will be treated nonoperatively with a cast and crutches. The estimated return for this type of fracture is usually 2 to 3 months.“

Going under the knife would have required Neville to be on the sidelines for much longer since the injury would have been classified as more serious so at least there’s some good news for the British high-flyer.

Day 8 of Hogan/Gawker trial, Heather Cole says they had sex 3 times

Day 8 of the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker trial kicked off this morning with Elizabeth Traub, Hulk’s publicist, taking the stand and watching herself on video from a deposition she gave earlier.

Traub said she called a press conference after the video was published to show to the press that Hogan was going to fight this one and said she contacted TMZ hoping that they would cover the press conference.

After Traub, Peter Horan appeared for the defense. He’s an investor in several digital media companies including About.com and is Gawker’s financial damages expert witness. It’s his first time as an expert witness, he says, and he’s charging $400 an hour. Not bad. Horan said it’s difficult to pin point exactly the value of the company from just one post. Hogan’s expert witness said that Gawker’s value increased by a minimum of $5 million since then and a maximum of $15 million. Horan estimated that Gawker’s value roughly increased to $2.3 million after the post and said the company made around $11,000 directly generated from the Hogan sex tape post.

After lunch break, Gawker’s team showed the 2015 deposition of Heather Cole, the ex-wife of Bubba “The Love Sponge” and the lady who was in the sex tape with the Hulkster. Cole said she slept with Hogan three times, once at their house, which is on video, once at Hogan’s house, and once in a hotel. She said that she didn’t know she was being filmed and said she was upset when she found out. During the playback of her deposition, Hogan didn’t look very happy and avoided looking at the monitor most of the times.

Among all the usual chaos of a trial, journalists requested that if there are any discussions about today’s appeal court decision to unseal documents they should be there to cover. A New York Post journalist told the judge she wants to see the documents and the judge didn’t care and told her to sit back down and to get a counsel before she speaks again.

Today’s sitting is still ongoing at time of this writing.

Florida appellate court orders Hogan/Gawker records to be unsealed

It might be bad news for Hogan as the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Florida ordered today that records from the Gawker lawsuit must be unsealed, overturning a decision taken by Pinellas County judge Judge Pamela Campbell.

It’s still not revealed which documents will become available but this can lead to further embarrassing moments for the former WWE and WCW champion. Hogan’s camp fought hard to keep them sealed while Gawker’s legal team wanted them released to the public.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the sealed records in the case could include details of an FBI investigation into an alleged extortion attempt against Hogan. They could also include video of his racist rant, a rant which caused havoc for Hogan last Summer.

Handicap tag match and US title match added to WrestleMania 32

More matches were added to WrestleMania 32 including a title defense and a big handicap match involving 7 WWE Superstars.

The United States champion Kalisto will now be defending his title against Ryback while The New Day will take on all four members of The League of Nations in a handicap match. The match is not for the WWE Tag Team titles but simply a regular bout.

Two more matches at least are expected on the show including the Intercontinental title match featuring Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and a match between AJ Styles and Chris Jericho. Rumors were also flying around that a second match with the Divas was being talked about. There are currently eight matches on the card as of today and usually two of them are demoted to the Kick Off show.

Last year’s WrestleMania had seven matches on the PPV card and two on the pre-show.

WWE ref Charles Robinson apologizes for dropping F-bomb on Raw

Senior WWE referee Charles Robinson apologized on Twitter for dropping the F-bomb twice in a heated argument with Chris Jericho after Jericho pushed him following a miscommunication over the ending of the match.

Jericho informed Robinson that Neville was hurt and they were going straight for the ending. Robinson didn’t hear Jericho and when Y2J rolled up Neville for the pin, Robinson stopped at the two count after noticing that Neville’s shoulder was up.

Jericho got pissed off and in front of cameras started screaming at Robinson and in return, Robinson fired back saying, “Don’t f**king touch me, I didn’t hear you. Don’t f**king touch me.” The exchange was clearly audible during Raw and even on the video that WWE uploaded on YouTube.

“During the heat of the moment during @IAmJericho @WWENeville match on Raw I said a really bad word. I sincerely apologize. Guilty,” Robinson said on Twitter.

After one fan replied telling to “Learn to count,” Robinson replied, “I can count (usually) when the shoulders are fully down. It did not look that way from my vantage point.” The instructions for WWE referees are that if someone fails to kick out, then they go ahead with the pin regardless of the finish and vice versa.

Drew Galloway wins TNA World title during Impact

There’s a new TNA World champion in town and his name is Drew Galloway, who yesterday cashed in his Feast or Fired briefcase and defeated Matt Hardy in the final segment of Impact.

Hardy had just wrestled a three way match against his brother Jeff and Ethan Carter III where both his opponents were taken out, leaving him as the last man standing and winner. After Matt addressed the crowd, Galloway came out to cash in, hitting the claymore and futureshock DDT to secure the pin.

Galloway has been wrestling for TNA since January 2015 and this was his first ever title win with the company. Prior to TNA, he wrestled for WWE as Drew McIntyre and won the Intercontinental and Tag Team titles once.

Jeff Hardy returns on Impact tonight

Tonight’s Impact Wrestling on Pop will feature the return of Jeff Hardy who was absent for the past several weeks due to a legal situation preventing him to travel to the United Kingdom.

As it’s the case every year, Jeff Hardy is written off TNA television in January when the company travels to the United Kingdom to tape Impact shows and then returns when those tapings have all aired. Hardy will be taking on Eric Young on the broadcast.

Impact tonight will be live from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, as TNA starts a week of several Impact and One Night Only pay-per-view tapings that will take TNA through the next couple of months.

Raw rating for 03/14/2016

A fully loaded Raw with appearances from The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Shane McMahon and even Mick Foley, did nothing to lure viewers in or keep those from last week. Yesterday’s show did a total of 3,457,000 viewers, down almost 100,000 from the previous week with just 3 weeks away from WrestleMania.

Hour one did 3,471,000 viewers, then dropped to 3,392,000 in the second hour, and then up to 3,510,000 in the third and final hour which had a main event featuring the McMahons and the Undertaker.  (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

Total Divas episode preview for tonight: Rocky Road to Recovery

Episode 9 of season 5 of Total Divas airs tonight on E! with an episode titled Rocky Road to Recovery.

The synopsis for the show reads, “Nikki commits the cardinal sin of mixing business with pleasure when she enlists John to be her rehab coach; Rosa grows suspicious when Bobby jets off to Vegas without her; Nattie struggles to wrangle her family together for a family portrait.”

Total Divas has lost half its audience ever since season 5 returned to the airwaves two months ago and is averaging just over 550,000 viewers weekly.

Triple H gets six staples to his head to close wound after Raw brawl

Things between Triple H and Roman Reigns went a bit hardcore last night on Raw as the WWE World Heavyweight champion required medical assistance after the brawl with Roman Reigns.

The Game had a nasty cut on his head and had to receive six staples to close the wound. WWE cameras were on hand – of course – as WWE trainers attended to Triple H backstage, cleaning up his wound and stapling his head. Triple H also had several shards of glass taken out from his back as his wife Stephanie looked on.

You can see the footage, which might be graphic for some, below.

Gawker Media founder Nick Denton testifies in Hogan trial

Day seven of the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker trial featured the testimony of Nick Denton, Gawker’s founder, who said that sometimes a celebrity’s right of privacy is trumped by the public’s right to know the story.

Denton admitted that watching the video made him “uncomfortable,” however in the bigger picture, it was the right thing to do in the interest of their readers. Hogan’s lawyer then tore into Denton and reminded him that during his wedding to husband Derrence Washington, they asked their guests to turn off their cell phones. “We asked them, yes, but we didn’t sue people,” Denton shot back.

Denton defended the posting of the tape however and said he would have taken action if the story turned out to be false. Denton said that there are three things he believes in before posting a story: “Is it true? Is it interesting? And check with legal,” Denton said. The attorney then asked Denton if all celebs waive their privacy just because they are a celebrity and Denton responded with a no. During a heated exchange, Hogan’s attorney Ken Turkel dropped the F bomb and then apologized to the court and the jury.

Turkel then demanded that Denton read a portion of the post that accompanied the video, a very graphic post which Denton earlier described as a “sweet, sympathetic paragraph.” Ouch! The jury at this point has still not seen the video which is the main topic of this lawsuit.

Taking the stand today as well is Mia Libby, the Senior Vice President of Sales for Gawker Media. Libby is defending Gawker when it comes to the financial side of the website, saying that Gawker didn’t make additional money from the Hogan post, adding that advertisers don’t want to be associated with sexually explicit material. She said that posts tagged NSFW triggers an “automatic collapse” of advertising across Gawker pages.

Full videos of the trial are available on our YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/wrestlingonlinecom.

Neville fractures his ankle on Raw

Former NXT champion Neville suffered a fractured ankle on Monday Night Raw during his match against Chris Jericho.

The injury occurred when the British Superstar went for slide and his left ankle got caught on the canvas. Neville continued the match for a bit but then it was decided to change the finish and Jericho got disqualified for pushing the referee after it was obvious that Neville couldn’t continue. Jericho then got into a shouting match with the referee and cut a promo as WWE trainers helped Neville to the back.

The interesting part of this whole incident is that Jericho got legit pissed at WWE referee Charles Robinson who apparently didn’t hear Jericho telling him that Neville was hurt. After Robinson failed to hit the three count following a quick roll-up, Jericho shouted at Robinson and pushed him and the two continued to argue live on television and at one point you could see Robinson telling Jericho not to put his hands on him.

“Neville sustained a left ankle injury on a baseball slide during his match with Chris Jericho,” Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. “Initial X-rays reveal a fracture of the ankle. He will undergo further imaging today to determine the extent of the fracture and to determine if surgery will be necessary.”

You can see the footage of the injury below (with subtitles!).

Two more matches added to the WrestleMania 32 card

Two more matches were added to the WrestleMania 32 card with now six matches so far making up the event.

The first match is The Dudley Boyz vs The Usos as the former friends will now battle in WrestleMania 32’s first tag team match. The other match is the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, now in its third year.

For the past two years, the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal has been part of the two hour Kick Off show so it might be that the match will once again be part of that. Cesaro and the Big Show won the first two battle royals.

The Usos have also been part of the Kick Off show twice in a row participating in fatal 4-way tag team matches at WrestleMania 30 and 31.

Segment #11: Arena Promo

Vince McMahon is out first and asserts that The Undertaker will help him in destroying Shane’s goal of controlling Monday Night Raw/WWE. “The Deadman” walks out to loud “Undertaker” chants. McMahon tells him not to “ever put your hands on me again,” but ‘Taker responds by taking his jacket and hat off. Vince backtracks quickly, then continues to try and convince “The Phenom” what he is going to do to Shane in Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania.

Shane joins now and tells Vince that he’s “not ‘best for business’ anymore.” He talks to Undertaker and says he has a strategy. He is going to use his mind, physicality, and heart. ‘Taker responds with his fists, saying that “what I have are these, and even more so than WrestleMania itself, these (fists) are my legacy.”

Shane calls him out though, “yep, for the last twenty-five years, you’ve helped carry this company on your back. You are ‘The Phenom,’ you are ‘the measuring stick.’ That’s why I’m so shocked that you’re standing around here, dancing around here like a puppet, as Vince is pulling the puppet strings.” Undertaker does not take kind to that, but he really doesn’t take kind to Shane’s next remark, “I have the misfortune of being Vince’s son, but you, well, you’re just Vince’s bitch.”

Both engage in fist-a-cuffs until Vince shoves Shane into a chokeslam; ‘Taker frowns at fins and goes for him, but The Boss slides out of the ring and backs up the ramp. The arena goes blue and ‘Taker stares at both a downed Shane and a gleeful Vince to close the show.

Dana Warrior confirms second Warrior Award to be given at HOF ceremony

Dana Warrior, the widow of WWE Hall of Famer the Ultimate Warrior, today confirmed in a post on her Facebook that there will be another Warrior Award presented at the Hall of Fame ceremony this year.

“The recipient is top secret but I am absolutely thrilled with who has been chosen,” Dana wrote, adding that she and her two girls will be in Dallas for WrestleMania and will be at all the events. “So I hope with all my heart you will say hello so I can thank you in person for your ongoing support,” Dana said.

The Warrior Award was inaugurated last year with Connor Michalek being the first recipient of the award. During his induction speech in 2013, Warrior urged WWE to create an award to honor the true heroes of the company. After his death, WWE created the award and named it in his honor. Dana and Daniel Bryan presented Connor’s father with the award during a very emotional presentation.

Jacqueline announced for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016

The WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016 got its Diva today as former WWE Women’s champion Jacqueline Moore has been announced as the latest inductee.

The 52 year old from Dallas made her professional wrestling debut in 1988 and wrestled for World Class Championship Wrestling, FMW, and the USWA before going to the WWE in 1993. Her run there was brief, thanks only to the partnership between WWE and USWA, and in 1995 she went to Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

In 1997, Jacqueline moved to WCW but a year later she returned to the WWE for her longest run. In 1998, Moore joined Marc Mero as his girlfriend in his feud against Sable. The feud lasted till the Survivor Series and included regular matches and bikini contests. During her run in WWE she had feuds with Luna Vachon, Ivory, Trish Stratus, Jazz, and others, including wrestling Chavo Guerrero to win the Cruiserweight title. She was also one of the trainers of MTV’s Tough Enough in 2001. Her second WWE stint came to an end in 2004.

After departing WWE, Moore wrestled for TNA wrestling with a couple of stints there. Her last match for TNA was in July 2013.

During her time in WWE, she won the Women’s title twice and the Cruiserweight title once.
