Sasha Banks wins the Women’s title during the main event of Raw

Sasha Banks became a two-time WWE Raw Women’s champion last night after she defeated Charlotte in the main event of Raw, a rare opportunity for the women to main event a WWE show.

Charlotte tapped to the Banks Statement after nearly securing a pinfall after hitting the Natural Selection. Just prior to that, Charlotte hit a perfectly executed corkscrew moonsault from the top rope, landing on Sasha outside the ring.

Banks won both her WWE Women’s titles during Raw, with her first win coming on the first Raw after the draft. Banks was supposed to win the title at SummerSlam a few weeks later but WWE pulled the trigger early to give the show something special.

Her first title reign did not last long though as she lost the title at SummerSlam to Charlotte. Banks was out for a few weeks afterward with a back injury and returned to wrestle in a triple threat for the title with Bayley also in the picture. The match happened at Night of Champions and Charlotte came out victorious once again.

You have to go back to 2004 for the last time that a Women’s title match headlined Monday Night Raw. On December 6 of that year, Lita defeated Trish Stratus to become the new champion.

Dixie Carter acknowledges WWE interest in taking over TNA

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that Dixie Carter held a meeting with the TNA locker room last night before the start of the week-long Impact tapings in Orlando.

Carter admitted that WWE is interested in purchasing the company when someone brought up the question but said she would “not let that happen” although she could if she wants to. The former TNA President, who still is the majority owner of the company, said that TNA still owns the tape library and they did not sell it to WWE.

Last week when the New York Post went fishing for a comment from WWE regarding the rumors, a WWE spokesman refused to give a comment.

Perhaps one of the most interesting, if not the most interesting, thing that came out of the meeting is that Carter also acknowledged that there have been disagreements and even in-fighting between the several minority owners of the company as power struggles continue to dominate the difficult period that TNA is going through.

The New York Post said that Carter will be resuming her negotiations for the sale this week, including further talks with WWE.

Alberto El Patron attacked and stabbed outside restaurant

Alberto El Patron was supposed to be part of the AAA Heroes Inmortales X show at Arena Monterrey in Mexico on Sunday night however he no-showed the event, sparking a press release from AAA blasting him for failing to honor his commitment.

However the former WWE champion had a good reason why he did not attend the show: he was stabbed before his flight outside a restaurant, leaving him with multiple lacerations on his arm and head which required medical attention. The police were also called in to document the assault.

A statement issued by his team said that he spoke with the owners of AAA and supplied them with documentation of the incident. “Mr. Rodriguez greatly regrets not being there yesterday for his fans in Mexico and promises to everyone he will make this up as soon as possible,” the statement said.

AAA later released another statement wishing him a speedy recovery and that he soon gets back in the ring to resume his successful career as one of the leading Mexican fighters in the world.

Jericho proposes that they defeat New Day in Non-Title action first, but Kevin starts to relinquish his part, as “it sounds like a lot of work,” particularly since he is already the Universal Champion. Wooooo! Ric Flair says he went one-on-one with Halle Berry…in bed!

On the latest episode of The Ric Flair podcast, the former 16-time World champion revealed one Bond girl who “rode the space mountain.”

When asked if there were any famous celebrities who he slept with, Flair said that “several dozen” did and then name-checked Academy Award winner Halle Berry. “She was in Atlanta and just got divorced from David Justice,” Flair said, saying this happened in 2001.

Flair was then asked to clarify if the story was real and the Nature Boy said he didn’t have to make up a lie. He refused to name any more celebrities he took on “space mountain,” probably realizing the mistake he did by even mentioning one by name to begin with.

Ric Flair was trending on Twitter today and many users thought that his name was trending because he passed away and then made jokes and posted funny gifs that it was only because he banged Barry.

Tough Enough winner Sara Lee released from WWE

The Tough Enough female winner, Sara Lee, has been released from WWE just over a year after winning the $250,000 contract on the USA Network reality competition.

The news was initially reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet, however no indication was given as to why she was let go. It emerged that Lee is pregnant with her first child. She is currently dating NXT wrestler Wesley Blake.

Lee spent most of her time in the WWE Performance Center and barely was exposed in front of a live audience due to her lack of wrestling abilities. Despite spending every day at the state-of-the-art facility, Lee did not improve much and all the others – except for ZZ – who were signed from Tough Enough are at least participating at non-televised live events.

She was at risk of elimination five times during the competition but the public always came to her rescue, eventually crowning her Tough Enough winner.

Natalya loses two front teeth during match in Las Vegas

WWE Superstar Natalya lost her two front teeth last night during the non-televised live event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Natalya wrestled in a three-on-two handicap match where Becky Lynch teamed up with Nikki Bella to take on Nattie, Alexa Bliss, and Carmella. It’s not exactly clear how and when her two front teeth went flying out of her mouth but the former champion posted a smiling selfie – minus the two teeth of course – afterward at a dentist.

“All in a days work,” she wrote on Instagram as Renee Young smiled and showed off her perfect teeth in the background. Natalya received emergency treatment after the show at Urgent Dental 24/7 clinic under the care of Hardy Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. According to the dentist, this requires a implantation. TNA’s financial problems remain despite last minute save

TNA’s tumultuous week wraps up tonight with the Bound For Glory pay-per-view, a pay-per-view which came very, very close of not happening due to lack of funds.

A mystery third-party investor injected enough money in TNA’s accounts to keep Bound For Glory alive along with a week-long of television tapings in Orlando that will take the company towards the end of 2016.

The bad situation that TNA finds itself in however is far from over. While there’s enough money to cover tonight and next week, TNA must either find a long-term investor or go for a full sale if it wants to stay alive. Staying alive means the sale cannot be done to WWE as WWE would kill off the company faster than they did to WCW.

A meeting is being held today at Universal between TNA management and probably talent as well to discuss the future of the company. Billy Corgan, TNA President, was open all week about the bad situation TNA is in and made it no secret that he wants full control of the company before he invests more of his own money.

The New York Post reported yesterday that Dixie Carter will resume talks with both Corgan and WWE about the sale next week after Bound For Glory is over.

Bound For Glory 2016 live on pay-per-view tonight

Miami Beach scrambles to keep Ballers’ production in the city

The Miami Herald is reporting that the production of Ballers, Dwayne Johnson’s dramedy on HBO, could be leaving Miami due to subsidies and the Zika virus.

“This is an issue that, for [HBO], is worth millions of dollars,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who recently called one of the show’s producers in California to talk about staying in Miami. “We had a good conversation. It’s up to them right now.”

In 2014, the production company behind Ballers received $6.7 million in Florida tax credits but the fund program is now empty, meaning that next time they get nothing. There’s also fear of the Zika virus which continues to spread in Miami.

A production manager for the city of Miami Beach said that if Ballers goes, it would be “catastrophic on so many levels,” and while leaving is not 100% confirmed yet, the city is moving to try and find an incentive package to keep the show’s production there.

Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, who had a cameo this season in Ballers, said keeping the show there should be a priority.

“I was there for the film for several days. It employs hundreds of people, locally,” he said. “If the state doesn’t come out with something, then we should figure out something locally.”

Participants for the Bound For Gold gauntlet match

The 10 men who will be participating at tonight’s Bound For Gold gauntlet match have all been finally announced.

These are Robbie E, Tyrus, Baron Dax, Jessie Godderz, Mahabali Shera, Grado, Braxton Sutter, Rockstar Spud, Eli Drake, and Basile Baraka.

The winner of this gauntlet match will be able to choose any title match at any time they want, similar to the Money In The Bank concept however not for just one title, but for any title in TNA.

The gauntlet match was a good way to get 10 other stars on the card as this is considered to be TNA’s biggest pay-per-view event of the year.

Four more teams announced for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Four more tag teams were announced for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which will take place during the next few weeks on NXT television and at NXT non-televised live events.

The four new teams are The Authors of Pain, TM-61, Niko Bogojevic and Tucker Knight, and The Bollywood Boyz. These teams join the already-announced six from earlier this week.

A total of 16 tag teams will participate and the finale will be held at the NXT Takeover: Toronto in November during the Survivor Series weekend. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe won the first Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament last year.

Dixie Carter not commenting on “speculations”

TNA Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer Dixie Carter refused to comment online regarding all the rumors of an imminent sale of TNA, saying on Twitter that she doesn’t make it a habit to reply to speculations.

Carter holds all the power in the sale as a majority shareholder, with Billy Corgan and production company Aroluxe serving as minority owners. Carter has been dealing with both WWE and Corgan for the sale according to several industry insiders and there are two different outcomes with both parties should she choose to sell.

If Billy Corgan gets TNA, then business resumes as normal although he already said that he would be changing the name. Corgan made several cash injections in TNA and clearly stated he won’t put in more money unless he’s given total control. If WWE gets it, the tape library will be the most important, along with a few contracts of TNA talent. The company would immediately cease to exist once WWE takes over, similar to what happened to WCW.

Carter also told fans that if they’re close to the Orlando area, they shouldn’t miss these upcoming television tapings that will run from Sunday’s PPV to the following Saturday.

Drew Galloway off the Bound For Glory PPV due to injury

As if things weren’t already complicated for TNA, former champion Drew Galloway will not be part of the show due to an injury.

Galloway was supposed to take on Aron Rex in the final of the TNA Grand championship tournament however doctors did not clear Galloway to compete.

“I’m upset. Clearly. This sucks. I love nothing more than wrestling and this is a match that will make history,” Galloway told ImpactWrestling.com

There is no timetable for Drew’s return and the company is expected to announce Rex’s opponent before the show.

Unknown investor saves TNA’s week, Bound For Glory is a go

An unknown third party investor has come in to save the week for TNA Wrestling as the New York Post is reporting that the company has secured enough cash yesterday to go ahead with Bound For Glory and a week-full of television tapings.

The Post said that TNA spent much of the week negotiating between WWE and Billy Corgan for cash to proceed with their biggest pay-per-view of the year however sources say that the cash came from someone who is not either of those two.

The same sources added that TNA is expected to resume talks with both WWE and Corgan about the sale.

When the New York Post reached out to WWE for comment, the company declined to talk about it.
