Monday Night Raw TV report for 10/03/2016

Introduction Segment: Video Promo and Welcoming

The regular Raw video plays and the pyro explodes in the Staples Center. Michael Cole greets us from Los Angeles, California, and runs down tonight’s show.

Segment #2: Arena Promo

JoJo welcomes United States Champion Roman Reigns. He lets us know that his blood has been in WWE for years, through his family. Lana interrupts and demands a rematch for the U.S. Title on behalf of her husband Rusev. Roman can’t believe that Lana is doing Rusev’s bidding, and wants “The Bulgarian Brute” to face him himself.

Rusev soon does and the two fight all over the arena; they end up on the stage where Roman hits a Superman Punch and holds up his United States Championship.

Match #1: Single – Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins VS. Brian Kendrick (Non-Title)

Brian shakes T.J.’s hands and then T.J. responds with a dropkick. He back-drops Kendrick and gives him a European Uppercut! He tosses Kendrick to the outside and “skins the cat” back into the ring and then rockets over the ropes. He goes to the top turnbuckle, diving and rolling through, but runs and meets a boot from Brian! Kendrick presses his foot on T.J. against the turnbuckle and then pushes him to the floor.

Perkins has control again, throwing Brian from the top turnbuckle with a hurricanrana! He turns a cover into his knee bar submission, but Kendrick struggles to the ropers for the break! Brian turns T.J. around with kicks in the turnbuckle and flatlines him face-first into the middle one. He follows with Slice Bread #2 (turnbuckle-walking Reverse-DDT) and locks on his Captain’s Hook crossface-like hold! T.J. reverses it into a pin but Kendrick kicks out! Perkins tries again but is locked in Brian’s hold and has to tap out!

Winner via Submission: Brian Kendrick

Segment #2: Video Promo

Michael Cole interviewed Seth Rollins earlier today. Seth talks about his rib injury, saying that the doctors have given him the ok to compete. He talks about how Universal Champion Kevin Owens has been “handpicked” by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to be the new man of Raw. He accuses Owens of not working hard enough but still getting the big opportunities. Rollins vows to win the Universal Championship.

Later tonight, Universal Champion Kevin Owens will reply.

Match #2: Single – Chase Silver VS. Braun Strowman

Braun wins easily with his finisher!

Winner via Pinfall: Braun Strowman

Post-match, Braun demands that General Manager Mick Foley give him real competition next week.

Segment #3: Backstage Promo

Sasha Banks is warming up when Bayley joins her. She congratulates and his happy for Sasha to main event Raw tonight with Charlotte for the Women’s Championship. Bayley does admit that she wanted it to be her, but is glad nonetheless. Sasha promises to defeat Charlotte.

Segment #4: Arena Promo

Universal Champion Kevin Owens, and his friend Chris Jericho, saunter out. Jericho has a notepad that has “The List of Jericho” written on the back. Owens calls Seth Rollins a “stupid idiot” for challenging Owens to a rematch for the Universal Championship. He wants his friend, Jericho, to be the referee for that match.

Chris has another idea; he wants to take on The New Day for the Raw Tag-Team Titles. Owens is fine with this except for the fact that Sheamus and Cesaro are already in line. Jericho proposes that they defeat New Day in Non-Title action first, but Kevin starts to relinquish his part, as “it sounds like a lot of work,” particularly since he is already the Universal Champion. Jericho eggs him on by insinuating he wants a title shot at Kevin’s Universal Championship, so Owens quickly agrees.

Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E. join on the ramp now. They make fun of Jericho and Owens, and Jericho and Owens fire back a couple of insults. New Day declare that Jericho and Owens will “never defeat The New Day.”

Segment #5: Video Promo

Sheamus and Cesaro are shown pulling up into the arena and arguing along the way.

Tag-Team Champions The New Day VS. Jericho-Ko is made official for tonight!

Match #3: Single – Sami Zayn VS. Titus O’Neil

They lockup and Titus shoves Sami into the corner. Sami breaks out and chops O’Neil and flips over him, but is caught in a rib-breaker position. He whips Zayn hard into the turnbuckle and kicks him, and then locks him in a bearhug. Titus mocks Sami a bit, but Zayn hits back with a clothesline and gives him an exploder-suplex into the turnbuckle. He follows with his Helluva Kick and to receive the victory!

Winner via Pinfall: Sami Zayn

Segment #6: Locker Room Promo

Sheamus and Cesaro are still arguing when they see GM Foley. Sheamus questions Mick’s decision, but Foley defends his thought and walks away.

Match #4: Tag-Team – Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows VS. The Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth)

Truth hip-tosses Karl to start, and then tags in Goldust. They both flip Anderson over with a double-hip-toss. Goldust clotheslines Karl, but Anderson fights back and switches with Gallows. He slugs away at Goldust in the corner, and then clubs on the mat. He locks on a grounding rear-chinlock, and then he and Goldust tag-out. Goldust is hit off of the apron by a knee from Gallows, and then Truth is planted with the Magic Killer double-team. Karl covers for the 1 – 2 – 3!

Winners via Pinfall: Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows

Segment #7: Backstage Promo

Jericho and Universal Champion Kevin Owens walk into Raw Guest Hosts Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson – actors, mainly known for the sitcom That ‘70s Show. They all trade more jokes, particularly with Danny and Ashton making fun of Jericho’s list. Owens and Chris storm off.

Segment #8: Arena Promo

Enzo Amore and Big Cass are in the ring with Breast Cancer Survivors Gina Foreman, Kelly Sherman, and Angelica Fry. They put over the Susan G. Komen foundation for what they do to help breast cancer sufferers.

Match #5: Tag-Team – Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho VS. Tag-Team Champions The New Day (Xavier Woods and Big E.) (with Tag-Team Champion and New Day partner Kofi Kingston)

(Note: Danny Masterson and Ashton Kutcher are on commentary.)

Jericho and Woods begin, with Chris chopping away at Xavier in the corner. He tags in Owens, who gives Woods a scoop-slam but misses a senton-splash. Xavier punches back but is slammed against the top turnbuckle. Jericho is brought back in, but misses a chop as Woods ducks and slides under. Chris crawls over and tags in Owens, and Big E. is now in.

Xavier is tagged in and cleans house shortly, but is dropped with a fireman’s-carry knee-to-the-gut by Kevin. He kicks away and then grounds him with a rear-chinlock. Owens doesn’t allow Woods to make a tag, but tags in “Y2J.” They govern for a while until Seth Rollins’ music plays. He walks to the stage, which distracts Kevin. Xavier capitalizes with an enziguri and gets the hot-tag to Big!

He gives Jericho a couple of overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. Owens is knocked to the floor and Woods soars over the top rope with a Swanton! Big is locked in the Walls of Jericho but it is broken soon. Chris goes for a move, but is distracted by Seth Rollins’ music. He walks out and hops the apron but jumps off just as Jericho slugs at him.

Big takes advantage and picks “Y2J” up on his shoulders. Xavier jumps off the top turnbuckle and they finish this with their Midnight Hour double-team!

Winners via Pinfall: Tag-Team Champions The New Day (with Tag-Team Champion/New Day partner Kofi Kingston)

(Note: the ropes are changed to purple again to represent the Cruiserweight Division.)

They shake hands and measure each other up. Swann fakes out a test-of-strength, but is shoved down with a shoulder-block. Tony runs and ducks, but Rich flips over in a 450-way and lands on his feet! (That was cool!)

Nese soon takes over with hard punches and kicks. Rich mounts a comeback but is caught from a springboard move. Tony finishes with a Michinoku Driver-like move!
Winner via Pinfall: Tony Nese

Segment #12: Video Promo

Still pictures of Emma in bathing suits are shown; she is going to be Emmalina soon.

Match #7: Tag-Team – ??? and ??? VS. Sheamus and Cesaro

Sheamus and Cesaro win after a Brogue kick despite some arguing.

Up next, the main event for the Raw Women’s Championship!

Segment #13: Video Promo

The history of Women’s Champion Charlotte and Sasha Banks’ feud airs.

Segment #14: Backstage Promo

Women’s Champion Charlotte and Dana Brooke are walking through the halls; they see Bayley and make fun of her. Charlotte walks away and Dana continues to provoke and then shoves Bayley into the wall when Bayley makes a remark. Bayley turns Brooke around and chucks her into an equipment case.

Sasha Banks makes her entrance for the Women’s Championship Match!

Match #8: Single for the Women’s Championship – Sasha Banks (Challenger) VS. Charlotte (Champion)

An elbow-collar tie-up begins. Charlotte shoves Sasha down right away and goes for the Figure-4, but is kicked to the outside. Sasha tries a dive, but Charlotte hits her with a forearm. Banks goes again and lands a crossbody through-the-ropes!

Charlotte is now in control with a surfboard-stretch. Sasha attempts to reverse, but is slammed to the mat. Charlotte stretches Sasha over her knee, but Banks kicks away. She gives a couple of forearms, but is caught into a backbreaker and pushed into the turnbuckle. Charlotte runs, but Sasha moves.

Charlotte slaps hard but Banks does the same, multiple times! She hits a couple of clotheslines and a dropkick, and then a boot! She runs off the ropes and dives on with a double-knee-drop! 1 – 2 – Charlotte gets her shoulder up! Sasha hits a hurricanrana, but is stopped on the outside and put back in the ring from an awkward backdrop position.

Charlotte kicks hard a couple of times but Banks does not go down for three! They battle atop the turnbuckle and Sasha pushes Charlotte to the mat! She follows with a diving double-knee-press and almost takes this! Charlotte twists off the top turnbuckle with a corkscrew-moonsault on the outside, and just hits her with her arm!

In the ring, Charlotte drives Sasha with the Natural Selection facebuster! 1 – 2 – Banks just raises her shoulder! Sasha manages to clamp on her Banks-Statement Crossface! Charlotte turns her into a pin but Banks reverses into her Crossface again and Charlotte quickly gives in!

Winner and NEW Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks

Post-match, Charlotte walks up the aisle-way upset as Sasha warmly celebrates her victory!

End of Raw.
