There was a surprise appearance at yesterday’s TNA Impact tapings in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and that came in the form of the man formerly known as Brodus Clay.
The former WWE Superstar was released from the company in June of this year after a three year run as The Funkasaurus. He previously wrestled in the WWE as part of the fourth season of NXT and then shortly as the bodyguard for Alberto Del Rio.
There is a photo of Clay with his hands being raised by Ethan Carter III which you can see below but there are no exact eye witness reports of what happened at the tapings yet.
TNA President Dixie Carter sat down with Grantland.com to discuss a variety of subjects concerning TNA in a revealing interview.
Carter acknowledged that this year – while the company is profitable (!) – was pretty much horrible with live events and ratings down and big, influential Superstars and backstage people leaving the company. And then, the TMZ bomb came saying Spike is dumping TNA off its schedule.
“TMZ asked me, ‘Hey, is this story real, should we run with it?’ I was watching a movie and didn’t see it until some little wrestling site ran it. Then I gave TMZ a quote, which said we’re still negotiating. That never made it to print,” Carter said.
Despite not having a fantastic year, Carter wants more hours and more TNA programming on U.S. television and admits that if they stay as one two-hour show, they will die a slow death. “I have big decisions to make. I want this to be a big play. I don’t want this to be a status quo play.”
Dixie Carter also goes at length discussing TNA’s business, the clashes with Jeff Jarrett, what she thinks of Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling, working Hogan and Bischoff, AJ Styles leaving, and much more.
The whole halftime experiment on WWE Raw did not really work and not only it didn’t work to keep viewers glued to Raw, but viewers switched away en-masse from the second to the third hour. Raw on Monday drew 3,826,000 viewers, down 161,000 viewers from last week’s show.
Hour one did 3,900,000 viewers, followed by 3,949,000 in the second hour, and then down to 3,629,000 in the third and final hour.
Both the overall number and the third hour number were the worst numbers since the May 26 episode of the show which coincidentally enough was also the go-home show for another pay-per-view, Payback. (Ratings credit: PWInsider.com)
TNA Superstars and crew will be calling the Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, their home for the next three days as the company begins production on several Impact tapings tonight.
TNA will be doing up to six weeks of tapings over the next three days with these particular episodes airing on television in October. Taping several episodes in the same location back-to-back saves a lot of money and a lot of money is something that TNA doesn’t really have at the moment.
Following these three days of tapings, the next time TNA will be doing another show is in Tokyo, Japan, for the Bound For Glory pay-per-view. There are no other Impact tapings scheduled yet but since Spike has committed to keep airing the show till the end of the year there will be another set of tapings for sure.
Ever since suffering a concussion in March of this year, former WWE Intercontinental and World Heavyweight champion Christian hasn’t been seen much on television.
Captain Charisma has been somewhat relegated to doing pre-shows for the WWE Network at pay-per-views but now he’s getting an upgrade, sort of. At the Night of Champions pay-per-view, Christian will be hosting his Peep Show with special guest Chris Jericho. But no, this will not be on the PPV itself, but instead of the kickoff match that usually occurs before the show.
Christian has been cleared to return to the ring but he hasn’t found himself on television yet.
2K today announced a new release date for next-gen consoles for WWE 2K15 of November 18, 2014 in North America and November 21, 2014 internationally. This release date is for Playstation 4 and Xbox One whereas release dates for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will launch as planned October 28, 2014 in North America and October 31, 2014 internationally.
“Visual Concepts and Yuke’s are committed to delivering the most authentic and action-packed WWE experience to date, including release for the very first time on next-generation consoles,” said Greg Thomas, President, Visual Concepts. “The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations.”
Total Divas episode two of season three which was titled ‘Mo’ Marriage, Mo’ Problems’ did 974,000 viewers, down quarter of a million viewers over last week’s season premiere.
That puts this particular episode as one of the least viewed among all three seasons. I guess E! and WWE won’t put out a press release on that number this time around! (Ratings credit: PWInsider.com)
With just six nights away until all titles are on the line at Night Of Champions, what will go down tonight on Raw? We know that John Cena has called out his opponent, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar; or else he will try to take out Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman. Which man will Cena be able to get his hands on this evening? Also, who else will be getting an advantage over their opponents before they face each other at the Pay-Per-View? Read on to find out!
Monday Night Raw T.V. Report for September 15th, 2014 – “Championship Rally”
Introduction Segment: Welcoming and Arena Promo
Justin Roberts asks us to welcome Paul Heyman. The advocate for WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is in the ring and begins to talk about the main event for Night Of Champions. Heyman says John will be out first, (mocking his theme music) and all the children will cheer him; then out will come Lesnar, and everyone will boo him.
Before he goes further, John Cena does indeed come out to a decent ovation. Cena says “I don’t see him,” referring to the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He inquires Paul on where his client is, and threatens “I’m either going to fight him, or I’m going to fight you.” Heyman obliges, and builds up the showdown for tonight; then as Cena turns around and faces the stage, no Lesnar, but a laughing Paul E. behind him. He informs Cena that Brock is delayed by plane, but will still be here. He speculates that Cena picked this moment to confront Paul and Brock, because he really doesn’t want to fight the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Night Of Champions., as he knows what will probably go down. Heyman gives him credit for “fooling” him and starts to walk away, but Cena grabs him by the head. He gives Paul a stern warning that if Lesnar doesn’t show by “halftime,” then it will be Heyman who Cena fights. Heyman walks off again, but Cena clutches him in a headlock and drags him to the back, wanting to ensure the fight.
After a recap of last week’s conclusion to Raw, Chris Jericho makes his entrance; he will be in action, next!

End Of Raw.
Reporter’s Rumblings – By Moe Tapp
This was a great Raw, especially to be the last build for the Pay-Per-View! It was action-packed, both physically and story-wise, making a great push to Night Of Champions! Onto the analysis:
Excellence: Opening promo and middle promo (almost 2-hour mark); once again, both Heyman and Cena were on point and gold on the microphone. Loved the setup and aggressive Cena again.
Great matches between Kane/Jericho, Swagger/Dallas, the Divas Tag-Team, the six-man, and Truth/Ziggler/Miz/Sandmiz.
Loved the promos by Seth Rollins and Randy Orton; both were intense and put over their respective bouts well. Still liking the feud between A.J. and Paige, and hope it continues past N.O.C While I also like the rivalry between Mark Henry and Rusev, I see that as being a one-off and hope it ends at the Pay-Per-View, with my prediction below.
Bogus: Naomi/Cameron – no build and came out of no where. Meant nothing. Not sure why they booked Reigns VS. Rollins tonight when they’re already squaring off on the Pay-Per-View. There was also no build (other than the advertising by the commentators) and after all that has gone down between them, it really deserved to be better and on PPV only.
Night Of Champions Predictions: Lesnar to retain, Miz gains revenge and the I.C. Title, Sheamus keeps his United States Championship, Gold & Star Dust take the Tag-Team Titles, Orton defeats Jericho (possibly by nefarious means)
Until two weeks from now, as I will be away next week for a work-related event, Be Excellent Wrestling Online-Readers and Wrestling Fans!
The Nature Boy Ric Flair did not attend last week’s NXT Takeover as advertised as he underwent surgery, although what kind of surgery was not specified.
“WWE Legend Ric Flair is recovering from successful surgery and will miss tomorrow’s scheduled guest referee appearance at SmackDown. Ric is doing well and we look forward to him returning to WWE in the near future,” read a short statement on WWE.COM.
It is not known how long Flair will be out. Flair recently re-joined WWE on full-time basis after undergoing a battery of health tests to certify him for the road although he wasn’t being used much on shows.
Full Sail University today announced through a blog post that WWE has awarded five $10,000 scholarships to students who are studying entertainment business, sports marketing and media, film, recording arts, and show production.
This brings WWE’s investment at the University to $110,000 in just two years as the company continues to help out the home of NXT. The five students who are the latest recipients of these scholarships were chosen because of their hard work and professionalism when tagging along with WWE staff during production of NXT shows at the University. These students don’t even need to use personal statement writer service because their skills speak for themselves. NXT is filmed and produced on-location at Full Sail University using the University’s state-of-the-art equipment.
“The remarkable partnership between Full Sail and WWE has provided a plethora of valuable benefits to our students and graduates since its inception,” said Garry Jones, president of Full Sail University. “WWE has continually recognized the dedication of our students through this one-of-a-kind scholarship program, and we are humbled to have achieved this milestone together bringing the total amount awarded to over $100,000 through the presentation of these latest five scholarships.”
Triple H, who heads up the NXT shows said that this money will help the students continue their academic career and all these students play an important role in NXT’s success.
Guam’s Pacific Daily News newspaper is carrying a story about Olympic wrestler Jeff Cobb attending a tryout at the WWE Performance Center earlier this month.
The three day tryout was held between September 4 and 6 and those who attended will wait four to six weeks to see what the future holds for them. Cobb said that WWE coaches “killed them” to see if they were going to quit.
“There was a lot of people that had to sit out for a bit, be it from dizziness, cramping, aches and pains, but everybody made it through the three days, some better than others,” Cobb said.
The 5 foot 10, 250lbs Guam flag bearer from the 2004 Olympic Games, Cobb wrestles in California and Nevada, and performed in front of Bill Demott, Billy Gunn, and Dusty Rhodes for his tryout.
“The tryout was one of the coolest things I’ve done in my life,” he said. “Being able to be there and seeing these guys you see on TV, seeing these legends that are there watching you do your craft and giving me feedback. It’s amazing.”
Cobb added that the coaches said that they liked what they saw and he would be reporting to NXT if he is picked.
Tonight’s Monday Night RAW will feature the return of the WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, back for his first appearance since the night after SummerSlam.
Lesnar will be there to confront his number one contender John Cena after Cena issued an ultimatum to Heyman on last week’s show. This is also the go-home show before Night of Champions so it’s important to have Lesnar on for the final push before the pay-per-view.
Speaking of Lesnar, rumors are that WWE is now in a position where they can have Lesnar appear on any show they want and pay him accordingly on a prorate based on his current deal. Lesnar’s WWE contract calls for a limited number of television appearances and wrestling matches but since winning the WWE title it seems that WWE and Lesnar have come to terms on a new agreement.
There’s only match announced for tonight’s broadcast and that’s a Divas tag team match between Brie Bella and AJ against Nikki Bella and Paige.
PWInsider.com is reporting that Bully Ray is close to signing a very, very short deal with TNA to wrap up his current television storyline.
A short deal translates to just two dates – one to finish up the TNA tag team series angle with the Hardys and the Wolves and one to appear at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
There’s one match left in the tag team series storyline which is set for tapings this week while the company is in the latest rounds of tapings in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Bully Ray is obviously an integral part of the angle and it would be a disaster if he does not end up finishing the series.
Another disaster to avoid is to make sure of his presence at the TNA Hall of Fame ceremony. A few months ago TNA announced that Team 3D would be the next inductees into the Hall of Fame which is set to be held in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.
PWInsider also adds that Devon’s last date on his contract is the actual Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 12.
WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is in the October 2014 edition of Shape Magazine which has WWE fan Maria Menounos on the cover.
The mother of three and most powerful woman in the WWE, McMahon is featured in the single-page ‘Fit & Famous’ section of the magazine. The piece mentions her upcoming WWE fitness DVD, her workout, spending time with the kids, Connor’s Cure charity, and more.
The words are accompanied by a single photo of McMahon, looking fabulous in a red dress. You can see it below.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the story that made headlines yesterday about WWE looking to sell their video library to Warner Bros. is – as predicted – indeed not true.
TheWrap.com – who posted the “exclusive” story – got the basics of the story wrong as apparently the whole deal is about Warner Bros. acquiring the rights to distribute WWE home video from the current rights owner, Cinedigm.
Upon further research, Adam Mizel, the Chief Operating Officer at Cinedigm, said during an August conference call with investors that WWE will leave them at the end of the year as they did not accept a renewal proposal that allowed the company earn an acceptable return.
“This was an easy decision for us as WWE has underperformed expectations and is at best now a lower volume breakeven customer,” said Mizel when discussing the Q1 2014 results of his company.
When asked to expand on his WWE comments and if their expectations were just lower than they wanted or if they were in the negative, Mizel added that business over the past two years declined a lot “as they have shifted their business model accordingly.”
“We made a proposal to them that we thought was profitable and made sense for us and should make sense for them. They didn’t want to do that. They were looking for a deal that I think would have relied on us – at us losing money and we are not in the business of servicing customers while we lose money,” Mizel said.
WWE is once again helping Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts with his latest bout of cancer and is facilitating a lot of stuff so Roberts gets the best cure.
Writing on Twitter, Roberts said that the pneumonia did “some serious damage” and he was the sickest he’s ever been. The doctors refused to tell him how long it will take for him to heal up as he needs to take a biopsy from his lungs and another area where the cancer seems to be.
Roberts note that his two daughters traveled to see him for some “TLC” and thanked WWE for making sure he had the best doctors, nurses, hospital, and that his family had everything.
“I am so sincere and proud to b a part of FAMILY!!!! With all that I have on my plate it becomes so comforting to know WWE has my back!!!” he wrote.

Their wild party quickly turns into a terrifying slay-fest as the sadistic mass-murderer resumes his savage rampage complete with hooks, surgical knives and power saws.”

Kenta has arrived at NXT and made his debut last night at Takeover on the WWE Network.
Kenta was introduced by William Regal and talked in Japanese to the fans following him live in Japan on television. He then switched to English and announced that from that moment on he would be known as Hideo Itami in honor of one of his heroes.
The Japanese star was then interrupted by The Ascension and they threw him out of the ring. But the man now formerly known as Kenta came back and disposed of the former NXT tag team champions.
It was also announced during the live NXT special that Itami will be making his in-ring NXT debut next week.
Here are the results from the second NXT Takeover special which aired yesterday live on the WWE Network from NXT’s home at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.
Kalisto and Sin Cara defeated The Ascension to become the new NXT Tag Team champions; Baron Corbin defeated CJ Parker; Enzo Amore defeated Sylvester Lefort in a hair match; Bull Dempsey defeated Mojo Rawley; Charlotte defeated Bayley to retain the NXT Women’s title; and Adrian Neville defeated Sami Szayn, Tyler Breeze, and Tyson Kidd in a fatal 4 way to retain the NXT title.
