Roman Reigns thanks fans for their support

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns thanked his fans for their support after undergoing emergency surgery yesterday to treat his hernia.

“Thank you everyone for your kind words, support and prayers!! I’m hurting right now but it’s great to know good people have my back,” Reigns wrote on his Twitter.

In a short video interview on the WWE Network from his hospital bed, Reigns said that he felt sharp pains below his belly button and was advised to call 911. After an ambulance transported him to the hospital, doctors told him he needs to undergo surgery immediately.

The former member of The Shield is looking for up to three months on the sidelines or in best case scenario, just a month. His match with Seth Rollins for tonight’s Night of Champions has obviously been scrapped with no replacement announced.

Heath Slater joins Cena to sing Country Roads at non-televised live event

It seems whenever WWE visits Charleston, West Virginia, former WWE champion John Cena always ends up singing the song Country Roads.

This time it was no different but it was a duet rather than a solo with Cena bringing out home town boy Heath Slater to join him. Slater is from West Virginia and was pretty popular with fans at the non-televised live event yesterday.

The song happened after Cena and Kane finished their main event match and then Slater was invited out by Cena to sing along. You can see the video below.

Roman Reigns out for up to three months following surgery

An hour and a half after WWE was supposed to go live with an update on Roman Reigns on the WWE Network, cutting into the CM Punk documentary, the update finally happened with the scheduled WWE Slam City being interrupted.

Scott Stanford ran the update from the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and was joined via telephone by WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann. Amann said that the surgery was successful and everything looks like it’s going to be fine with Reigns now staying at the hospital overnight for monitoring.

Dr. Amann said that Reigns was in serious pain this morning while in his hotel and contacted the WWE medical team to alert them. He was ordered to go to the hospital immediately and he found out that a loop of intestine had wrapped around his hernia, which resulted in emergency surgery.

This was something that Reigns had been dealing with lately and it was not an injury that he suffered in the ring.

The former member of The Shield will be out from a minimum of a month to as long as three months and Dr. Amann made it clear that Reigns will not be cleared to return until he’s completely healed from the injury.

WWE pulls plug on live update of Reigns on WWE Network

WWE was supposed to give an update on Reigns’ injury at 1PM on the WWE Network but pulled a bait and switch, with 1PM coming by and nothing happened.

The original announcement said that they will be cutting into the live WWE Network feed – which was airing CM Punk’s documentary – at 1PM for an exclusive update but as time went on, WWE.COM changed their story to, “Check in with WWE Network all afternoon for live updates.”

Keeping WWE fans waiting was not a very popular idea and with Roman Reigns trending top worldwide, the WWE Universe voiced their opinions on the company keeping them waiting without any promised update.

The Wrestling Observer also adds that one of the plans that WWE was working on for Night of Champions fell through which might have affected the decision to pull the plug on the 1PM update.

Roman Reigns undergoes emergency surgery in Nashville

WWE.COM broke the news today that Roman Reigns has undergone emergency surgery today in Nashville, Tennessee, just 24 hours before the Night of Champions pay-per-view.

Reigns went under the knife due to an incarcerated hernia and will now be evaluated by the local surgeon and WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann to determine recovery time. He will obviously miss the pay-per-view. Reigns was scheduled to wrestle Seth Rollins on the card.

There will be an update on the situation at 1PM EST on the WWE Network.

WWE Network to air WWE 2K15 roster reveal special on Monday night

There will be no Raw Backstage Pass on the WWE Network this coming Monday as right after Monday Night Raw, WWE will air the WWE 2K15 Roster Reveal event which happened during the SummerSlam weekend in Los Angeles.

Hosted by WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin and Renee Young, the roster reveal special had Sheamus, Cesaro, Roman Reigns, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, and Sting, as guests on the panel.

Playing up on the cryptic tweet that WWE sent yesterday, Sting also hyped up Monday’s date on his Twitter with a message saying, “It’s Showtime. 9.22.14.”

WWE 2K15 gameplay trailer released on Monday

2K has announced that the world premiere of the WWE 2K15 gameplay trailer will be coming on Monday, September 22, on IGN.COM who scored the exclusive.

This will be the first trailer released of the game that shows actual gameplay, quite late in production as the game will be released in October for older consoles and November for next-generation consoles.

The tweet that WWE sent hyping up September 22 might now be referring to this one as it does mention that fans have been waiting for long enough.

WWE investing in India according to local news outlet

The Hindu Business Line in India is reporting that WWE and its television partner in the region Ten Sports will invest over $100 million in the country.

Rukn Kizilbash, WWE’s India General Manager said that the company is committed to the Indian market and want to make a good amount of investment while Rajesh Sethi, CEO of Ten Sports, did not disclose the exact amount of money the two are investing.

Sethi said the funds would be used to bring in technology, which would help reduce the gap between the television shows shown in the US and the Indian market and to organize more live events in the country, and to launch a WWE line of merchandise for kids and adults.

WWE recently announced an extension to their agreement with Ten Sports to broadcast even more WWE television shows.

Ric Flair out of hospital this weekend

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend and according to Jim Ross, Flair is “doing well and is upbeat.”

The 16 time World Heavyweight champion was admitted to the hospital last week to treat appendix and hernia problems. He missed the NXT Takeover special on the WWE Network where he was supposed to introduce Kenta and also missed the Smackdown tapings where he was set to referee a dark match.

Flair will be resuming his WWE work next month.

Major upset at TNA Impact tapings, spoilers ahead

Fans attending yesterday’s TNA Impact tapings in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, got a nice surprise as the company delivered a big surprise which will air next month on Spike. If you are not interested in spoilers, we suggest you stop reading and close this because we will definitely spoil you the surprise!

The main event of one of the upcoming Impact shows will be Lashley defending the title against Bobby Roode with Kurt Angle as the referee. The big story is that Roode eventually won the TNA title, his second run with the gold in the company.

TNA was going to take the title off Lashley if he lost his MMA fight on Bellator and has not advertised his name for the Bound For Glory pay-per-view yet. Lashley won his MMA fight and many expected him to still be the champion come October 12.

WWE teases the next generation for September 22

WWE sent a cryptic tweet today hinting that something is going to happen on September 22.

“You’ve waited long enough… Prepare yourself for the next generation. 9/22/2014,” the tweet read.

September 22 is this coming Monday and one would assume whatever is going to happen will happen on Monday Night Raw, which will also have the fallout from Night of Champions.

A lot of theories are already popping up online with the one that makes sense the most being the introduction of some NXT favorites to the main roster. WWE is running an interview with Hideo Itami, Kevin Steen, Fergal Devitt, Adrian Neville, and Sami Zayn on WWE.COM with the headline “Are these five men the future of WWE?”

Hideo Itami makes his NXT in-ring debut

Hideo Itami, the man formerly known as Kenta, made his NXT in-ring debut during last night’s NXT show from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Itami took on Justin Gabriel in the second match of the night and pinned Gabriel for his first NXT victory. Itami was then attacked by the former NXT tag team champions The Ascension, continuing their angle which started at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4 Way last week.

With Itami, Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, and Kevin Steen and Fergal Devitt still yet to make their debut, the WWE future looks very bright!

Chris Jericho wrapping up latest WWE run this weekend

Chris Jericho will be taking another sabbatical from his WWE duties as he is scheduled to wrap up his latest commitments with the company this weekend at Night of Champions.

Jericho made his third return to WWE at the end of June attacking The Miz during an episode of Monday Night Raw. He was put into a program with the Wyatt Family since that particular night and had two very good matches on pay-per-view with Bray Wyatt at Battleground and SummerSlam.

Y2J will be Christian’s guest on his Peep Show for the Night of Champions kickoff and will then wrestle Randy Orton on the show.

Jericho is also busy with his band Fozzy and that’s why he’s leaving again.

Santino Marella undergoes neck surgery

Former WWE Intercontinental champion Santino Marella wrote on his Twitter that he underwent neck surgery yesterday and it was a success.

“Not only did they perform a double fusion, they also removed a piece of broken bone,” he wrote, adding that the road to recovery starts immediately.

He noted that with this new titanium plate inserted in his neck, he will be better than ever and if he’s ever medically cleared to return to the ring next year, he knows where he will be training!

Marella owns a wrestling and mixed martial arts gym in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, called Battle Arts Academy.

A few months ago Marella announced he was retiring from the ring due to his neck injuries during a non-televised live event in Toronto.
