Dwayne Johnson’s TV series Ballers on HBO ending with season five

The Ballers HBO television series starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is wrapping up with a final season that starts this Sunday. Eight episodes have been filmed for season five and it all ends on October 13.

“Cheers to our FINAL SEASON of @HBO’s BALLERS. My heart is full of gratitude to all of you for rockin’ with us every season. You made us HBO’s highest rated comedy for years and most importantly, you helped create and sustain a platform for other actors to have the OPPORTUNITY to work hard, grow and become household names. To me, the opportunity Ballers created for so many others, is the real gold of our show,” Johnson said in an Instagram post. “I love you, I thank you and enjoy our final season of BALLERS.”

Ballers did extremely well for HBO but viewership greatly decreased in season four. Season three did an average of 1.8 million viewers while season four did an average of 830,000 viewers.

Johnson played the role of financial manager Spencer Strasmore and the cast also included Rob Corddry, John David Washington, Omar Miller, Donovan W. Carter, Troy Garity, London Brown, and Jazmyn Simon, among others.
