Big cage match announced for May 10 Dynamite

AEW announced a blockbuster main event for the May 10 episode of Dynamite at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

The main event will be a cage match featuring former AEW World champions Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. The match was confirmed last night on Rampage and furthers the feud between The Elite and The BCC.

Omega and Moxley already wrestled three times against each other in a lights out match at Full Gear 2019, exploding barbed wire death match at Revolution 2021, and a regular match on Dynamite in 2021.

Trinity Fatu brings the glow to Impact Wrestling

Trinity Fatu made her Impact Wrestling debut last night at the television tapings in Chicago. Her debut airs this coming Thursday on AXS TV.

Now going by her first name of Trinity, the artist formerly known as Naomi in WWE brought her glow gimmick back and her first appearance consisted of an in-ring promo. Her first opponent will be KiLynn King and that match is being taped today which will air in two weeks’ time.

“Ecstatic to welcome @TheTrinity_Fatu to the @IMPACTWRESTLING roster,” tweeted Impact President Scott D’Amore. “A world class athlete and entertainer who will raise the already high bar for everybody in the locker room. Don’t miss her debut this Thursday on #IMPACTonAXSTV.”

This was Trinity’s first time performing in front of a wrestling crowd since May 2022. She and her former tag team partner Sasha Banks walked out of Raw – and WWE – after a creative dispute with Vince McMahon.

Banks went on to Japan as Mercedes Mone but Trinity remained inactive for nearly a year.

Speaking of Mercedes Mone, the former IWGP Women’s champion was backstage and in the crowd for Trinity’s Impact debut, doing the same thing that Trinity did for her when she traveled to Japan to see her at Wrestle Kingdom. Mone donned a large hat and sunglasses to try and disguise herself.

AJ Styles returns on Smackdown with The OC

AJ Styles returned to Smackdown last night following four months out with a broken ankle.

Styles, along with Anderson, Gallows, and Michin, were all drafted to Smackdown as The OC and took out The Viking Raiders and Valhalla as their first act on the blue brand. Styles tested his ankle by doing his Phenomenal Forearm on Ivar.

Anderson, Gallows, and Michin didn’t feature much on WWE television since AJ got injured but with the faction back together, all of them will likely get some much-needed TV time in the coming weeks and months.

Styles’ injury took place at the non-televised live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania, in late December during a mixed six-person tag match.

“Just want you guys to know that I’m ok. Broken ankle is what I’m dealing with,” Styles wrote on Twitter at the time. “No surgery, this just takes some time to recover. This will be the longest I’ve ever been out of the ring. Thanks for the prayers and get well wishes.”

WWE 2023 Draft picks for night one

The first picks of the WWE Draft took place last night on Smackdown and they will continue this Monday on Raw on USA Network.

Staying or going to the Raw brand are Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, Gunther, Giovanni Vinci, Ludvig Kaiser, Matt Riddle, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, Shinsuke Nakamura, and NXT’s Indi Hartwell.

The Intercontinental title is moving to Raw with Gunther while Indi Hartwell, the current NXT Women’s champion, will probably end up dropping the belt before her move.

The Smackdown brand got Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman, Bianca Belair, The Street Profits, Edge, Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Michin, Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, and from NXT Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.

Belair is the current Raw Women’s champion so that means right now both women’s champs are on Smackdown but that will obviously change come Monday. Fyre and Dawn from NXT are also the current NXT Women’s Tag Team champions.

With Reigns remaining on Smackdown that means that the newly re-introduced WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be on the Raw brand.

Roster changes will take effect starting on May 8, the first Raw after Backlash.

Bullet Club Gold vs Shawn Spears & Ricky Starks

Backstory: White debuted by helping Juice beat down Starks; the two then attacked Spears after he insulted White’s in-ring debut last week

Well that’s refreshing.  They actually gave the openers their entrances.  As a recap of Bullet Club’s exploits thus far played.  Starks drew a nice reaction from the crowd.

Before rushing down the ramp, right to a four-way brawl, going after Robinson: the match he never got.  Spears and White spilled outside.  As Starks took Juice to the corner for chops.  Before tagging Spears.

Presumably he and Robinson wrestled in NXT?

Quick tags from the good guys, Spears mocked White which seemed to draw boos.  Before taking Juice to the corner for ten punches, even catching White with a sledge after spotting him sneaking up.  Though White had the last laugh with a knee to the back from the apron.

Allowing Robinson to take control.  White then dropped the vet across the apron to bring the break.

White in, Spears stuck in the wrong corner – slow, stinging chops from Jay, a dropkick to the knee maintaining the advantage.  Until a cheap shot to Starks allowed Spears to snatch him up in a suplex, both guys down, an animated Starks begging for the tag.

Which he got, as did Juice, a smashing clothesline dropping Robinson and making White abandon the apron – he wanted no part of Ricky.  Back body drop, back elbow, suplex, Starks firing up, the crowd responding.  White tried a cheapshot and ate a lariat to the outside, before Juice was taken upstairs.  Blind tag to Spears – superplex/big splash combo for two.

Which I believe was the first attempt at a pin, a solid ten minutes into the show.

C4 ready, Juice raked the eyes, tag to White, who also slipped out of Spears’ finish, only to eat a sky high.  Robinson made the save, was wiped out by Ricky, who was knocked off the apron by White, who was snatched up again for the C4, only to slip behind as the two ever-so-smoothly transitioned right into the Bladerunner.  Very nice finishing sequence.  And the move drew a pop from the crowd.

Right winner; right loser.

Starks showed a ton of charisma here and was over with the crowd.  He needs to be used more consistently.  But there are a dozen guys who tick that particular box.

The fight continued after the match as Starks and Juice continued brawling, White saving his partner from a Spear while shouting that he owned Starks.

Winner: Bullet Club Gold

Lexi with the Hardys and Hook.  ‘Isiah Kassidy is still missing, nowhere to be found’.

Erm, what?  When did this happen?

Anyway, it was the Firm who took him – Big Bill threatened to chokeslam him off some scaffolding unless the Hardys agreed to make Firm Deletion next Friday on Rampage.  They agreed; Bill chokeslammed him anyway.  Poor Isiah takes too many big bumps for far too little rub from the vets.

And Firm Deletion sounds like something to counteract too much Viagra.

A fired-up Hardy shouted that they were all ‘dead’.  ‘The Firm’s getting deleted,’ deadpanned Hook.

Naturally Limitless vs Brennan Hughes & Charlie James

Backstory: None

Lee beat James with the Spirit Bomb.

Afterward, Mogul Embassy (the Embassy & Swerve Strickland) appeared on the stage.

Winner: Naturally Limitless

Lexi with Sammy.  Who was interrupted by a furious Tay Melo – MJF isn’t his friend and he shouldn’t blow a world title opportunity for him (by laying down).

This is exactly why everyone needs a gorgeous Brazilian blonde – to help you realize when your friends aren’t really your friends.

Anna Jay vs Ashley D’Amboise

Backstory: None

Jay’s eyes are still black after her misting.

The crowd were almost silent except when D’Amboise was announced as being from the region.  Jay hooked a bow and arrow using the ringpost.

Ads.

The majority of this took place during those ads.  Jay got the win via Queenslayer after a neckbreaker.

Post-match, the lights went out, Julia Hart appeared & the two brawled.

Winner: Anna Jay

The Outcasts appeared.  Their latest swagger-jacking being an updated version of I Broke Wahoo’s Leg as they wore tees with an image of black-eyed Britt Baker.  They said ‘losers’ and ‘babygirl’ a lot.  Then that this was their house.

The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn vs Cameron Stewart, Ryzin & Some Dude

Backstory: None

Caster’s rap accused one of their opponents of looking like a pedophile.

Fameasser, Arrival, Mic Drop, win.

Crowd liked em.

Winner: the Acclaimed

Jay Lethal vs Cash Wheeler

Backstory: Jarrett beat Dax Weds after being distracted by Sonjay Dutt

Cool ring jackets for FTR as they dedicated the match to Jay Briscoe en route to the ring.

Immediately Lethal rolled outside, ostensibly to hug Mark Briscoe, as the announcers talked about how ridiculous the interference was in the JJ/Dax match Weds.

Lockup, to the corner, where Jay took cheap shots to the gut before ramming knees.  A bodyslam followed, the crowd almost silent.  Cash replied by reversing a hiptoss, armdrag into a lock; Lethal came back with the kitchen sink but saw Lethal Injection avoided as Cash hit a dropkick, knee lift, back body drop, clothesline to the outside.

A rare cut-to-break with the good guy on top.

Things had changed as we returned, a deadly and exciting abdominal stretch held by Lethal, who even more heart-stoppingly went right back to it after Cash briefly escaped.  As Briscoe prevented Dutt’s interference.

Cash slipped into a cradle for two but was quickly dropped across the ropes, the heel back on top.  This crowd is basically asleep.  As Lethal dropped an elbow so obviously intended to miss that JR basically called him on it.

And was then propelled into the air by the tag champ’s legs.  Flurry from Cash, big uppercut, snap powerslam out of a leapfrog.  Great sequence.  Followed by a tornado ddt for two.

The two exchanged pin attempts, Lethal back body dropped his way out of a piledriver, Lethal Combination followed, but Cash caught Lethal into a Gory Bomb out of Lethal Injection.  Two only as Dutt interfered and hopped onto the apron, Briscoe too, Lethal shoved Cash into both then rolled him up.

Wouldn’t you know it, that was the finish.  A rare interference-laden screwjob.

More fun with contenders no-one wants to see and screwy finishes.  WWE’s offer/the prospect of working for Vince must’ve really sucked if this is what FTR signed up for.

Decent enough match otherwise.  Strange how much of the match Lethal took considering he was winning.

Winner: Jay Lethal

All In and All Out set for a week apart in August and September 2023

AEW is going to have one hell of a busy week in late August and early September with both All In and All Out taking place within a week of each other.

While the status of All Out was up in the air, AEW’s Chief Legal Officer Megha Parekh confirmed during a podcast that All Out will indeed take place as expected on September 3, a week after AEW presents All In live from London’s Wembley Stadium.

“It’s been a while since I’ve spent any meaningful time (in London) because of COVID, so I’m excited just to go back,” Parekh said on the A2theK podcast. “We’ll have to come back here for All Out the week after, but it should be really fun.”

All In is so far not a pay-per-view and some wondered if that would replace All Out this year but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It’s not known yet how All In will be aired.

AEW has not announced anything regarding All Out either, not even a location, although the show has taken place just outside of Chicago over the years in Hoffman Estates at the NOW Arena.

Sol Ruca out for months with torn ACL, Indi Hartwell suffers ankle injury

NXT fan favorite and up-and-comer Sol Ruca is out of action for the next several months after she tore her ACL.

Ruca was written off television last night on the Spring Breakin’ episode of NXT, becoming the latest victim of the mystery assailant who keeps taking out women backstage or at the parking lot of the WWE Performance Center.

A torn ACL means a lengthy spell on the sidelines, an unfortunate setback for Ruca who has been building herself up on TV lately.

Meanwhile, Ruca was not the only one injured as NXT Women’s champion Indi Hartwell was also minutes from losing her title due to a legit ankle injury.

On the show last night, Hartwell defended her title against Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton in a triple threat match and landed bad on her ankle taking a move from Stratton. The injury led to Hartwell being helped to the back while the match continued between Perez and Stratton. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline said that they called an audible and Stratton was going to win the title.

But Hartwell managed to make her way back to the ring and finish the match as originally scripted, retaining her title. It remains to be seen if the injury will actually lead to her taking some time off but NXT is heading into their next premium live event fairly soon and she is expected to be defending the title at Battleground next month.

NXT rating for 04/25/2023

The Spring Breakin’ episode of NXT on USA Network last night drew 647,000 viewers, up 82,000 viewers from last week’s show and the second most-watched episode of NXT of 2023 so far. The show, going against NBA and NHL playoffs, did a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 0.04 and the best number of 2023 and placed #14 on the chart. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

Double or Nothing 2023 main event still undecided after tournament

The Double or Nothing pay-per-view main event was supposed to have been decided last night on Dynamite but the Four Pillars tournament had another twist, somewhat rendering the whole tournament useless.

Sammy Guevara defeated Darby Allin via disqualification in the final match after he beat Jack Perry via countout last week. The win technically earned Guevara a spot in the main event of Double or Nothing against MJF but AEW announcer Tony Schiavone, via a message from Tony Khan, later announced that the Double or Nothing main event will be decided next week in a tag team match.

The match will see AEW World champion MJF team up with Sammy Guevara against Jack Perry and Darby Allin. If MJF and Guevara win, then the main event will remain MJF vs Guevara. If Perry and Allin win, the match will turn into a four-way match with the Four Pillars headlining the show.

Trinity Fatu expected at Impact Wrestling tapings tomorrow

The big surprise that Impact Wrestling is promising for tomorrow’s television tapings in Chicago is none other than the arrival of Trinity Fatu, the wrestler formerly known as Naomi in WWE.

PWInsider broke the story that Fatu is joining the promotion and according to other insiders, this is not just a one-time appearance.

Fatu recently applied to trademark the name Trinity Starr but she dropped the application with the USPTO a few days later.

She has not appeared on television since May of last year and stayed out of the wrestling scene after she walked out of Monday Night Raw with Sasha Banks.

How can you benefit from switching to online sports gambling?

In today’s fast-paced world, people are becoming increasingly drawn to convenient and accessible methods of entertainment. The rise of the digital age has brought about a revolution in many industries, one of which is gambling. Sports betting enthusiasts no longer need to frequent brick-and-mortar establishments to place their bets. Instead, they can easily do so from the comfort of their own homes with just a few clicks.

Switching to online sports gambling offers numerous advantages for both casual and seasoned bettors. This modern approach to wagering on sports events allows for increased accessibility, flexibility, and an abundance of features that were once unavailable at traditional venues. By embracing this new medium, gamblers can enjoy a more streamlined and enjoyable betting experience.

This article explains the various benefits that accompany the transition from conventional sports gambling to its online counterpart. If you’re considering making the switch or you’re simply curious about what online sports gambling has to offer, read on to discover how this contemporary method can enhance your betting endeavors.

Unparalleled Convenience in Placing Bets

One of the most significant advantages of online sports gambling is the unparalleled convenience it provides. Gone are the days of visiting local bookmakers or waiting in long queues to place your bets.

With online platforms, you can wager on your favorite sports events anytime and anywhere, as long as you have a stable internet connection. You can also use the resources they provide to learn how to read betting odds or perfect your betting skills. This flexibility allows you to make better decisions, decide on last-minute bets, or even adjust your wagers during live events, providing a more personalized and engaging betting experience.

Additionally, online sports gambling eliminates geographical barriers. Bettors can access international sports markets and place bets on events taking place across the globe. This expanded betting horizon not only broadens your options but also introduces new opportunities for discovering new sports and markets.

Access to a Vast Array of Sports and Betting Options

Online sports gambling platforms offer an extensive selection of sports and betting options that cater to diverse preferences and interests. From popular games like football, basketball, and tennis to niche activities such as e-sports, virtual sports, or even political events, there is something for everyone.

Moreover, these platforms often provide multiple betting types, such as moneylines, point spreads, over/unders, and prop bets, giving bettors greater freedom in how they engage with their chosen events. This huge variety of choices encourages exploration and experimentation among bettors, allowing them to develop new strategies and refine their gambling skills over time.

Furthermore, the availability of obscure sports and unique betting options can lead to untapped profit potential for those willing to research and capitalize on these lesser-known opportunities.

Irresistible Bonuses and Promotions

Online sports gambling websites frequently offer enticing bonuses and promotions to attract new customers and retain existing ones. These offers may come in various forms, such as free bets, deposit bonuses, cashback offers, or enhanced odds for specific events. They not only add value to your betting experience but also provide a financial cushion that can help mitigate losses or amplify winnings.

However, it is always essential to read the terms and conditions of these promotions carefully, as they may come with specific requirements or limitations. When used wisely and strategically, bonuses and promotions can considerably enhance your overall sports gambling experience and profitability.

Enhanced Security and Privacy Measures

Privacy and security are critical concerns for online bettors. Reputable online sports gambling platforms employ advanced encryption technologies and stringent data protection measures to safeguard their users’ personal and financial information. This commitment to privacy ensures that your sensitive data remains secure from prying eyes.

Moreover, online platforms often allow anonymous or pseudonymous accounts, granting bettors additional privacy when engaging in their gambling activities. This level of discretion can be particularly appealing to those who prefer to keep their betting habits private or separate from their professional or social lives.

User-Friendly Platforms for Seamless Gambling

Online sports gambling platforms prioritize user experience by designing intuitive, easy-to-navigate websites and mobile applications. These user-friendly interfaces enable bettors to quickly find their desired sports events, review odds, and place bets with minimal hassle.

For beginners, these accessible platforms serve as an ideal starting point for learning the ropes of sports gambling without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated. Meanwhile, experienced bettors can appreciate the streamlined processes that facilitate efficient wagering and time-saving.

Social Interaction and Community Building Opportunities

While online sports gambling may seem like a solitary pursuit, many platforms offer opportunities for social interaction and community-building. Dedicated forums, chat rooms, and social media groups enable bettors to share tips, discuss strategies, or simply bond over their shared passion for sports gambling.

These virtual communities can foster camaraderie, friendly competition, and valuable knowledge exchange among members. Moreover, they can help alleviate some of the isolation that may come with engaging in an activity primarily conducted in the digital realm.

In Conclusion

Owen Hart Cup tournament returning with matches to be held in Canada

AEW President Tony Khan appeared on Dynamite last night to announce the second annual Owen Hart Cup tournament.

The opening ceremony of the tournament will take place at the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view next month in Las Vegas while the actual tournament will happen on Canadian territory.

Matches will take place at AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door PPV and other AEW events in Canada with the finals being held at the Calgary Saddledome non-televised live event on July 15.

July 15 falls on a Saturday so when the new AEW show launches it might turn into a live broadcast instead.

Adam Cole and Britt Baker were the inaugural winners of the Owen Hart Cup tournament, defeating Samoa Joe and Ruby Soho respectively.
