WWE had three matches for the live crowd following the conclusion of the Smackdown television broadcast yesterday, all coming from the Raw roster.
W-O reader Mark sent word that the matches consisted of Bianca Belair defeating Chelsea Green, Rhea Ripley defeating Ivy Nile, and Drew McIntyre defeating Ricochet.
After the last match was done, Drew McIntyre took the microphone and addressed the Vancouver crowd and said that they enjoyed performing in front of a packed crowd. McIntyre put Ricochet over and labeled him as the future of WWE.
He acknowledged that he has problems with a lot of people but he has none against Ricochet and then handed over the mic to Ricochet to close the show. Ricochet said that McIntyre already covered everything that he wanted to say and thanked everyone for coming and to get home safe.
Kevin Owens is getting another crack at the United States title at the Royal Rumble after last night on Smackdown he defeated Santos Escobar in the final of the tournament to crown the new number one contender.
Owens left Vancouver with something else too: he knocked down Logan Paul.
After Owens won the match, Logan Paul said he’s the greatest United States champion ever and he didn’t break a sweat and still is the champion for 62 days. Paul has not defended the title since he won it in November. Paul questioned why a Canadian would have the United States championship, and said that Owens beating him would be like the Canucks winning the Stanley Cup.
“It’s never gonna happen,” Paul said, as boos rained down on him.
But then Paul made a mistake of getting into the ring and went into Owens’ face, who quickly knocked him down with a right hand which had the cast on.
Removing the stage for the Smackdown, Raw, and NXT Stand & Deliver shows during WrestleMania weekend has paid off big time for WWE.
Latest figures show that the Smackdown on the eve of WrestleMania Saturday and Raw after WrestleMania are both hovering around the 16,600 tickets sold, making these two shows two of the most-attended WWE live televised events in an arena for the past couple of years.
NXT Stand & Deliver is at half that attendance, with over 8,000 tickets sold so far for the show. This will be the biggest attendance for NXT since WarGames 2019 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont where over 10,000 fans showed up.
Limited tickets for Raw and Smackdown and NXT Stand & Deliver are available at Ticketmaster.com. All three shows will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Monday Night Raw’s television ratings for the year 2023 were a tale of two stories: a very good one without the NFL and a very bad one against the NFL.
On average, Raw had 1,694,173 viewers in 2023, that is down from the 1,735,077 average from 2022. But the audience skewed younger, reversing a trend from the past couple of years, with the average demo of 0.52 in the 18-49 ratings, up from the 0.46 average of 2022.
To give a comparison of how the NFL and the multiple matches had effect against Raw every Monday starting from September, Raw averaged 1,823,000 without the NFL and a 0.55 rating in 18-49. The Raw episodes which faced NFL as competition meanwhile had an average of 1,447,000 viewers and an 18-49 demo of 0.44. That is over 375,000 who weekly tuned out of Raw when NFL was on.
Raw went over 2 million viewers four times in 2023, down from the five times it did in the prior year. The show also failed to cross 1.5 million viewers on 10 different occasions, breaking some unwanted records along the way.
The most watched episode of Monday Night Raw was the January 23 episode which was the 30th Anniversary episode with several appearances from different WWE Hall of Famers. That show averaged 2,344,000 viewers and a 0.70 rating in 18-49. The Raw After Mania did slightly less in viewers, 2,260,000, but had a younger audience with 0.76 rating in 18-49. The post-Royal Rumble Raw was third in terms of viewership, with 2,114,000 and a 0.64 in 18-49.
The September 18 episode of Raw now holds the record of the least-watched live episode in the show’s 30-year history, with just 1,331,000 viewers tuning in and a 0.44 rating in 18-49. The September 11 Raw also had a bad number with 1,353,000 viewers and the lowest 18-49 number in history with just a 0.40. The Christmas Day episode of Raw, which was a Best Of episode, drew just 698,000 viewers and a 0.18 rating in 18-49. This, of course, is the worst number the show has ever done.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Kamille, the former NWA Women’s champion, has been offered a WWE deal to join NXT.
The 31-year-old will be free from her NWA contract this month and those in WWE expect her to jump onboard.
Kamille spent 812 days as NWA Women’s champion, beating Serena Deeb in Atlanta on June 6, 2021, and losing the title to Kenzie Paige on August 27, 2023 at the NWA 75th Anniversary show.

The felony charge against Liv Morgan, stemming from her December 14 arrest following a traffic stop, has been dropped.
An announcement of no information was filed in the Circuit Court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida dated January 2 by the State Attorney.
An Assistant State Attorney in Sumter County told The National Desk, “In order to prove the charge possession of THC, the State is required to prove that the THC came from synthetic sources and was not derived from plant sources. No labs in the State of Florida perform such tests, so we remanded it to county court as Possession of Cannabis.”
Morgan still faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis.

Charlotte Flair underwent knee surgery after she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during an episode of Smackdown last month while wrestling Asuka.
Flair had surgery at the Andrews Sports & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Writing a post on social media, Flair said that it took her several days and many tears to get over what happened and it was the first time ever that she was truly scared.
“Scared of the unknown but also feeling like I’m losing what I’m most proud of and that’s being an athlete,” she wrote. “I don’t like showing physical weakness and this has left me feeling exposed. A process I know I will grow from but a very new one to me.”
She admitted that it was a huge blow for her mentally and also physically but she is trying to stay positive.
“I can’t thank this year’s Smackdown locker-room enough. I enjoyed every second and will be rooting from the sidelines,” she continued. “I have been a bad guy for most of my career but this year was different for me. I CHERISHED every hug, high-five and fist pump this year at live events and for the first time in my career felt comfortable in my own boots being the good guy.”
She promised to work hard and come back the best version of herself, noting climbing her own mountain will be her greatest test yet.
She signed off the message with her real name Ashley.
AEW’s Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson wrapped up a few days in Japan where they were part of the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 pay-per-view and the New Year Dash event.
Moxley was in a three-way match against David Finlay and Will Ospreay to determine the inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight champion, a match which David Finlay won.
During the post-show press conference, Mox seemingly forgot which title he was wrestling for and then said that there’s so many of them now.
Danielson went against Kazuchika Okada in a rematch from their Forbidden Door classic and this time it was Okada who won the match. The series is now tied 1-1.
Both stars were also involved in the New Year Dash show from earlier today, teaming up with Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii in an eight-man tag main event match against Zack Sabre Jr, Mikey Nicholls, Shane Haste, and Kosei Fujita.
Following the New Year Dash show, Shingo Takagi challenged Jon Moxley to a one-on-one match at the Battle in the Valley pay-per-view for February 18 in San Jose, California. Moxley accepted the challenge and asked for a no disqualification match.
Mercedes Mone’s theme song has been pulled from both Apple Music and Spotify, suggesting a new one is on the way.
While Mone did not appear on Wednesday’s Dynamite as many have predicted, AEW music composer Mikey Rukus wrote on X that “this Wendy Richter theme is a monster,” indirectly hinting at something with Mone.
The Wendy Richter reference was made by Toni Storm during the Worlds End post-show press conference where she said there’s quite the free agent out there with money written all over, then she said, “Wendi Richter…I’m going to f*ck you up!”
Storm was obviously referring to Mercedes Mone and everyone in the room got what she was saying.
Matt Riddle appeared via video during the NJPW New Year Dash show earlier today and issued a challenge to NJPW President and new TV champion Hiroshi Tanahashi.
In his response, Tanahashi played it like he did not know who Riddle is and would have to look him up first. Tanahashi won the NJPW TV title from Zack Sabre Jr at the Wrestle Kingdom 18 event yesterday.
Riddle, now signed with MLW, is set to make his debut for the promotion tomorrow at the Kings of Colosseum event against Jacob Fatu.
The former United States champion was released from WWE due to disciplinary issues in September of last year.
Matt Riddle has issued a huge challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi at New Year Dash!
