Kevin Owens becomes the number one contender for the United States title

Kevin Owens is getting another crack at the United States title at the Royal Rumble after last night on Smackdown he defeated Santos Escobar in the final of the tournament to crown the new number one contender.

Owens left Vancouver with something else too: he knocked down Logan Paul.

After Owens won the match, Logan Paul said he’s the greatest United States champion ever and he didn’t break a sweat and still is the champion for 62 days. Paul has not defended the title since he won it in November. Paul questioned why a Canadian would have the United States championship, and said that Owens beating him would be like the Canucks winning the Stanley Cup.

“It’s never gonna happen,” Paul said, as boos rained down on him.

But then Paul made a mistake of getting into the ring and went into Owens’ face, who quickly knocked him down with a right hand which had the cast on.
