JBL returned to commentary yesterday filling in for Jerry “The King” Lawler at Night of Champions and is also expected to tag team with Michael Cole tonight on RAW.
“Had a blast filling in for Jerry Lawler last night at Night of Champions, really rusty – but was wonderful to be back,” Layfield wrote on his website.
The former WWE champion will be flying to Africa on Friday to climb Mount Kilimanjaro so he will not be doing commentary every week.
“Long story short, I didn’t plan on filling in for Jerry and I am sure he didn’t plan on having a heart attack. I wish him well as he is a good friend. And, that’s his spot-not mine. I was asked to fill in and I did,” JBL added, making a point that he’s not going to take the spot full time.
“I love the WWE, I will always consider it home and if they need me to fill in or come back to do something, I have always been open to that.”
Here are the results from the Night of Champions pay-per-view which took place yesterday at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Zack Ryder won the pre-show 16 man battle royal to win a US title shot later in the show; The Miz defeated Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, and Cody Rhodes to retain the Intercontinental title; Kane and Daniel Bryan defeated Kofi Kingston and R-Truth to win the Tag Team titles; Antonio Cesaro defeated Zack Ryder to retain the US title; Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler; Eve Torres defeated Layla to win the Divas title; Sheamus defeated Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight title; CM Punk and John Cena for the WWE title ended in a draw as both men pinned each other, with CM Punk retaining the title.
Talking on Facebook about her recent arrests, Tammy “Sunny” Sytch said that “no one knows the real story” of what went down between her and her boyfriend (or ex, now?) Damien Darling.
She asked for her fans to respect both their privacy as they “work through this unfortunate turn of events.”
The funny thing however is that she also posted another message on Facebook on Friday saying, “Cheat on a good woman, You get choked out.” Not really a nice indication of working through the so-called “unfortunate turn of events”
Meanwhile, she also revealed that the people at the Dr. Phil show called her and want her to appear and she is currently debating about whether or not to appear or not.

There will be a new color scheme for John Cena at tonight’s Night of Champions pay-per-view as the green will step aside for black and…pink! Yes, pink!
And no, it’s not a tribute for Bret or any of the Hart family but rather an important cause for John Cena – it is to promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month which runs through all of October.
The Boston Herald broke the story that Cena would be sporting pink in support of the Susan G. Kormen for the Cure organization and will be wearing a black shirt with Rise Above Cancer in a pink circle as well as a pink baseball hat.
“One of the reasons I really wanted to do something with Susan G. Komen is because of my brother,” Cena told the Herald. “Early detection saved his life.” His brother learned that he had brain cancer last November.
“It was an inoperable brain tumor, but one of the main reasons he’s done well is the early detection. I know it’s brain cancer and breast cancer, but that key is early detection,” he said, adding that his brother Sean is doing well now.
“It’s very exciting for us to be partnered up with Susan G. Komen,” said Triple H, EVP of Talent Relations and Live Events. “The WWE and John Cena have such a large female fan base, so it’s important for us to support the people who have supported us for so long.”
The people at the Komen organization are thankful for Cena for his help and credit him for coming up with the idea, calling it a great opportunity to reach out to people and help them take action.

On his Twitter, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross addressed the many questions he received about Jerry “The King” Lawler being at the Night of Champions pay-per-view tonight to do ringside commentary.
“For Last time, King will NOT be @ NOC PPV. He had a HEART ATTACK Mon. Ask ur parents 2 explain,” he wrote.
But he then said that Michael Cole won’t be going solo obviously although he stopped short of revealing who will be his broadcast partner in King’s absence.
“I Suggest u watch,” Ross wrote. It’s interesting to note that reports are that JR is in Boston and most likely will fill in for Lawler.
Matt Morgan, who was without a contract and looking to go back to WWE has returned to TNA Wrestling.
Morgan has been out of TNA since mid June and only worked non-televised live events in his last month with the company however yesterday he returned also during a non-televised live event in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The former two time TNA Tag Team title holder showed up in street clothes – minus a shirt – and entered through the crowd and attacked Robbie E with a big boot to his face.
This season of the Ultimate Fighter will feature the welterweight division. The coaches are heavyweights as former interim champion Shane Carwin and TUF winner Roy Nelson take opposite sides. This season’s winner will leave with a six figure contract and custom Harley Davidson motorcycle for themselves and their coach.

George spends the first minute and half going for a take down he gets in some nice shots to the body and head but when he dives again for the take down. Bristol sprawls and locks in a front choke and puts George to sleep.

Mike Ricci counters with a straight left and drops South. He follows him to the canvas fights off submission attempts and is able to get the tko victory about two minutes into the first round.

Julian Lane, 4-0, Mansfield, OH vs Diego Bautista, 7-1, Lakewood, CA
Only highlights were shown for this fight and Lane threw numerous high kicks from the looks of it and able was to get the take down and control from the top for the remainder of round 1. In round 2 not much of significance and according to Dana White “Lane wins this fight by absolutely horrifying boring decision.”

Cortez Coleman, 8-3, Hugo, OK vs Igor Araujo, 22-6, Albuquerque, NM
Round 1 Coleman was looking good sprawls on a take down and is able to flip Igor on to his back and deliver elbows. In round 2 Coleman gets Igor down but Igor takes his back than moves into the mount. Igor pounds away and they go to a third round. In round 3 Igor gets a triangle and Coleman taps out. Dana points out that Coleman showed up to his big chance out of shape and gassed in a fight he should have been able to win.

Chaney latches on and pulls guard. Chaney goes for an arm bar than a shoulder lock to an arm bar again and eventually is able to get the triangle submission 90 seconds into the first round.

Cameron Diffley was a ju juitsu coach for Forrest Griffin during season 7.
Diffley drops down 30 secs in and gets the take down. Kamaka uses his long legs to sweep him and take the top but Diffley got a hold of the arm and wins by arm bar

Camacho gets in close and has Magny on the fence. He delivers some nice shoulder strikes than gets the take down. Camacho is able to land some shots but Magny gets back to his feet and gets his own take down but he took a beating in the first round. In the second round Magny gets the take down and lands some knees and punches. When they get back to the feet. Magny lands some good straights down the middle and a front kick. Magny takes the second to force the sudden victory. Magny looking good with energy to spare is finding a home for his punches down the middle. Magny gets the take down and pounds away on a bloody Camacho. Camacho briefly gets back to his feet and Magny takes him back down. Camacho tries for a guillotine but can’t get the submission and Magny goes back to pounding away from the mount.

Highlights shown only for this fight. Dana wasn’t impressed. Nelson was bored by the wrestling match and Carwin thought they were very evenly matched.

Highlights shown only and the fight opens with Smith faking the touch of gloves and sticking a power double leg as the fight begins. Smith gets into the mount and pounds away but not enough to stop the fight. In the second round it is more of the same.

Matt Secor, 3-1, S. Glens Falls, NY vs Max Griffin, 4-1, Sacramento, CA
Secor goes for the take downs early and often and once he is able to get one. Griffin lands on the top and delivers a vicious elbow. Secor goes for a knee bar but Griffin is able to escape. Secor. keeps trying for the take down but has not had much success now he pulls guard and threatens submissions from the bottom but just eats punches. Griffin gets a rear naked choke but Secor is saved by the horn to end the round. Secor is able to get the take down in the second and get into the mount it looked like he had an arm triangle but gave it up and the fight goes to a third after one round for each fighter. In the third Secor ducks under a punch and drags Griffin down. Secor moves to mount and than switches to an arm bar. Griffin is able to get free momentarily before Secor gets the triangle choke submission victory.

These two spent the first round going back and forth and than in the second both men looked more on the tired side and neither went for the kill.

Tim comes out throwing bombs and pushes Nic into the cage. Tim gets the throw and into half guard. Nic is able to get him into the full guard but Tim is winning this slow first round with the occasional strike. Nic is working for a kimura from the bottom. Nic gets his leg over the head of Ruberg and get the arm bar submission.

Sam Alvey smiles and eats leg kicks for the first 45 seconds than with one short right hook he damn near knocks the jaw off Kuntz.

On November 6, WWE will be releasing a DVD and Blu-Ray titled nWo: The Revolution, which will look back at the history of one of the most controversial and popular factions in the history of pro wrestling.
The DVD will contain three discs while the Blu-Ray version will have two in addition to some added content.
“In the mid-90s, a malicious group of renegades ‘invaded’ World Championship Wrestling, shaking the landscape of the sports-entertainment world and turning the tables on Monday Night War. Little did anyone know, the shock of the century was yet to come,” reads the preview for the title.
“When Hulk Hogan did the unthinkable and turned his back on the fans, The Outsiders had officially become The New World Order, and chaos ensued. Now, relive the history of one of the most infamous and controversial factions of all time with this brand new documentary.”
The new look at the nWo – another DVD was released years ago – will feature “the inside scoop from those who lived it,” including Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, as well as new interviews from Superstars. It’s believed that interviews from the first nWo DVD will be re-used especially those who are no longer working for WWE.
This release will also have matches from nWo members and interviews from the glory days of WCW.
A team of WWE employees are busy looking at video sharing websites and flagging all videos from the Attitude Era that are being used in attacks mostly against Linda McMahon.
Tons of videos were removed from the popular YouTube website already with a WWE rep saying that they are damaging “the corporate reputation” of the company. These same videos are the ones which catapulted WWE into ratings success in the late 90s and obviously were deemed appropriate at the time.
“For years WWE has produced programming that is rated PG in prime time, and most recently rated G on Saturday mornings. To better reflect our current family-friendly brand of entertainment, WWE is removing some dated and edgier footage from digital platforms,” WWE said in a statement.
“Some of this footage has been misused in political environments without any context of explanation as to when it was produced,” the statement added, referring to the adverts that opponents of Linda McMahon were producing using WWE footage.
“WWE is well within its rights to protect its intellectual property for fair use.”
Former WWE Diva Tammy “Sunny” Sytch appeared at the New Haven Superior Court yesterday following her three arrests over a period of three days this week.
The WWE Hall of Famer was reeled to her sister, Denise Stone, who told the court that Sytch would be going straight to a New Jersey rehab center.
A WWE representative told the Associated Press that the company already paid for her three rehab stints and will continue to do so.
All the incidents that led to her three arrests involved the same man, her boyfriend, where she kept returning to his house even after the Judge told her to stay away from him. The Judge also warned Sytch that if she gets in trouble again, she’s going straight to jail.
Eyewitness News 3 were allowed inside the court room and has a video report of Sytch – looking not so Sunny – appearing in front of the Judge. You can see it below.
PWInsider.com is reporting that TNA has chosen not to renew the contract of Katarina Waters, better known as Winter, who wrestled for the WWE as well under the name of Katie Lee Burchill.
The 32 year old joined TNA Wrestling 2010, six months after she was released from the WWE along with other six Superstars in the yearly post-WrestleMania releases.
As Winter in TNA, she won the Knockout title twice and also the Knckouts Tag Team title on one occasion with Angelina Love.
WWE Hall of Famer and former Diva Tammy “Sunny” Sytch was arrested three times in three days according to TMZ.COM, all arrests stemming from crimes related to domestic violence.
Sytch was first taken to jail for disorderly conduct on September 11 at 8:55PM and walked out the next day on a $500 bond.
At 4:49PM on the same day she was booked again for disorderly conduct, strangulation, and violating a restraining order.
On September 13 she was released on a $25,000 bond and then at 8PM on the same night she was again arrested for violating a restraining order. On all three occasions the incident involved the same man.
She was released today on a $2,500 bond and so far is still out and about. All the arrests were done in Connecticut by the Branford police department.
Sunny was recently released from rehab after going through the whole program paid for by the WWE as part of their Wellness Program to help former and current Superstars with drug and alcohol addiction.
“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, free and sober at last,” she wrote when she left rehab.
The 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter premieres tonight on FX and this time around the show is officially titled The Ultimate Fighter Fridays.
Two heavyweights will be in charge of the two teams – Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson – and tonight starts the process of elimination as the two coaches along with Dana White will oversee the 32 cast members fight their way into the house, eventually splitting in two teams of eight.
Unlike the previous season, this TUF will not be live and the show just wrapped up its taping a couple of weeks ago.

Joe Benavidez: “I was shown some stats on the flyweight division where we are throwing and landing way more strikes than the UFC average* as well as landing more takedowns and being way more active. I know heavyweights are the biggest and strongest, but I believe the flyweight division is the most exciting, most entertaining in the UFC already. The champion of this division, I think, will became one of the true fan’s favorite champions.
“The creation of the UFC 125lbs division changed my career. I kept hearing it was coming but I sort of stopped believing it would ever happen. When they told me I was going to be in a four -man tournament for the new UFC 125lbs title, it was like my career started again. Now I get to fight in the style I wanted to all along but couldn’t, because I was fighting bigger guys. Now I get to walk forward, intimidate, seek and destroy. I couldn’t do that against guys like Dominick Cruz (UFC bantamweight champion) because he had that extra 10 or 12 percent more natural size and strength.
“I want to be the first UFC flyweight champion so bad I can taste it. Everyone remembers No1, everyone remembers George Washington was the first president. I want to be remembered in 20, 30, 80 years, I want to be the first name in the record books and no-one is going to stop me from making that dream a reality.”
Demetrious Johnson: “Winning the UFC flyweight title means everything to me. I first walked into (trainer) Matt Hume’s gym after catching an episode of the Ultimate Fighter, the season with Rashad Evans in (season two, aired 2005) and wanted to be UFC champion. I didn’t know there wasn’t even a 145lbs or 135lbs much less as 125lbs division on the UFC back then.
“I think I could have won the bantamweight title, but 125lbs is where my body performs best and I think, as a flyweight, I have the chance to do some really cool things. Being at 125lbs I think I’m the fastest fighter in the UFC.
“Winning the title before anyone else will be the proudest moment of my life. I was supposed to get married right after the semi-final fight (UFC on FX, March 3) with Ian McCall. I was supposed to win that fight, go get married and have a honeymoon, and then come back and fight Joe for the title. But the fight was ruled a draw. The UFC said that I didn’t have to cancel my wedding and honeymoon, and that Joe could fight McCall for the title and I would 100% fight the winner.
“I said ‘no way’. I want to be the first UFC flyweight champion. I told my wife that I was going to have to training three times a day while we were on our honeymoon. She understood and we make our honeymoon about running along the beach or climbing this hill. We make it work. She understands I have to because the first ever UFC 125lbs champion.”
Michael Bisping: “I was kicking arse in the UFC while Brian Stann was peeling potatoes, shinning boots and getting called “maggot” by red-faced sergeants in the Armed Forces. His military career is very impressive, but this isn’t the military. He’s not allowed to bring guns and grenades to the fight with him. This isn’t a battlefield, this is the UFC Octagon, my battlefield.
“He’s got a puncher’s chance. He hits very hard and from what I’ve been told he’s very physically strong. But I’m a better striker, better grappler, better wrestler – the better fighter, period – and nine times out of 10 I mince his arse like burger meat.
“I want my title shot and I know a points decision with cute striking techniques isn’t going to cut it. I need to smash this guy up and that’s what is happening in Toronto.”
Brian Stann: “Mike is very intelligent, very quick (witted) and he knows exactly what he’s doing when he says these things. If you look at the guys in major sports who all earn life-altering money, they are almost all loud and talk a little trash. It is all part of Mike’s routine and – great. It doesn’t affect me at all and one of the reasons I wanted to fight him is because beating Michael Bisping means something. It means something because when he fights, people care because he has this way of talking fights up.
“This is a huge fight for the 185lbs division. It is not going to end well for him. He’s been at this longer than I have, but he has his weaknesses and I think when I land on his chin it will be the beginning of a very bad night for him.”
*FightMetric stats show the average flyweight fighter attempts 60% more strikes than the UFC average and lands about 70% more strikes per minute than the average UFC fighter. The flyweight average is 4.4 strikes landed per minute, while the UFC average is 2.6. The average flyweight attempts seven takedowns per 15mins, significantly more than the 4.5 UFC average.
WWE Diva Eve Torres announced on her Twitter that she just got engaged to black belt Jiu-Jitsu and head instructor at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, Rener Gracie, of the world-famous Gracie MMA family.
“I’ve never been so happy,” she said, posting a photo of her ring while holding hands with Gracie.
Torres and Gracie, both 28, have been dating for a few years and the former Divas champion is a spokeswoman and instructor for the Gracie Women Empowered self-defense program.
Eve recently appeared on NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes reality TV show and had great chemistry with her Army Green Beret tag team partner and was often teased even by General Wesley Clark that there’s “something” going on between the two. Eve went on to win the show and won $150,000 for the USO.

Impact begins with heavyweight champion Austin Aries walking to the ring. Austin is pleased that he got a piece of one member of Aces and Eights last week, but his real reason for coming to the ring is to call out Bound for Glory series winner Jeff Hardy.
Austin congratulates Hardy for his victory, but they are both interrupted by Bully Ray. Bully claims that Hardy was lucky to beat Bully Ray last Sunday, and he claims Aries is lucky he gets to face Hardy instead Bully Ray at Bound For Glory. Aries says if Bully is so sure he can beat Hardy, why doesn’t he fight him again. Hardy is all for that and wants to fight tonight, but Bully Ray walks away.

Match #1: X Division title: Zema Ion versus Sonjay Dutt.
Zema Ion wins a competitive match and then beats Sonjay down after the match is over. Zema puts Sonjay’s already injured arm and shoulder in a modified armbar and punishes him some more.
In the back, tag champs Daniels and Kaz are mocking Hogan in his office when they are suddenly interrupted by Hogan. Hogan tells them they will be competing in singles matches tonight. Daniels will have to wrestle either Chavo Guerrero or Hernandez, and Kaz will have to wrestle either Angle or AJ Styles.
Chavo/Hernandez and Angle/AJ were the last 2 teams to face Kaz and Daniels for the titles. If either Angle or AJ beats Kaz, they earn another title shot for their team, and if Chavo or Hernandez can beat Daniels, they will also get a championship rematch.

Match #2: Kaz versus AJ Styles.
Kaz uses the ropes to try and steal a win, but AJ kicks out anyway. AJ hits the Pele kick and then the Styles Clash for the win. AJ and Angle will get a tag title rematch.
In the back, Hogan is telling his daughter Brooke that she should have at least 2 people around her at all times to protect her from Aces and Eights.
Joseph Park (the lawyer brother of Abyss that is obviously really Abyss) claims that his investigation into Aces and Eights is proceeding very well, and that he is waiting on a piece of evidence that will break the case wide open next week. Hogan wants Abyss…I mean Joseph, to come see him first when he gets this evidence.
In the meantime, Hogan wants JP to watch his daughter Brooke. Hogan did say he wants TWO people around Brooke at all times, and while Joseph Park looks like only 1 person, he does play two different people on TV. So I guess that’s close enough.

When we return, Bully Ray confronts Jeff Hardy and tells him that he should make their match tonight mean something: Ray wants Hardy to put his Bound for Glory title shot on the line. Bully Ray claims Hardy won’t take him up on his offer, because Hardy is a coward. After pausing to look mysterious, Jeff agrees.
Back in the ring, Hulk Hogan announces that Bully Ray versus Jeff Hardy is official for tonight, and that Hardy’s BFG title shot is on the line. Hogan also wants to talk about Aces and Eights, and his decision to put the Impact Zone on Lockdown last week. Hogan says he’s going to lock the Impact Zone down every week from now on, and then he is interrupted by Aces and Eights.
They’re on the big screen in their scary masks, and they tell Hogan to ask himself if he locked them out, or locked them in. They warn Hogan that every time he passes someone in the hallway, he’ll never know whether or not they’re with Aces and Eights until it’s too late.

Match #3: Daniel versus Chavo Guerrero.
Partway through the match, Daniels tries to hit Chavo with the title belt while the ref has his back turned but misses. Chavo responds by hitting the 3 Amigos and follows up with the frog splash for the win. Chavo and Hernandez earn a tag title rematch, as did Angle and AJ earlier tonight.
After the match a short video featuring Evan Markopoulos, next week’s Gut Check contestant is shown. Evan is only 18 years, but has been wrestling since he was 13 and is a graduate of Killer Kowalski’s wrestling school.

When we return, James Storm announces that next Thursday at Open Fight Night, he will be calling out his former partner, Bobby Roode. Roode cost Storm his Bound for Glory match last Sunday versus Bully Ray and he wants payback.
Tara makes her way to the ring to call out her best friend and former wrestling student, Miss Tessmacher. Tessmacher comes out and Tara tells her she’s proud of her and wants to congratulate her on her victory this past Sunday.
Tara says part of her was very upset about losing, but part of her was also very proud. She says that Tessmacher is her best friend and she loves her. She also says that Tessmacher’s victory means Tara did a good job teaching her. After another hug and a profession of love, Tara exits the ring while Tessmacher celebrates. Suddenly, Tara sneaks back in and clotheslines her best friend and knocks her out with the Widows Peak.

Match #4: Bully Ray versus Jeff Hardy.
A decent match that Hardy wins with the Swanton Bomb. Hardy versus Aries is still on for the Bound for Glory main event.
Jerry Lawler is up on his feet and even throwing a joke or two in a remarkable recovery following his heart attack on Monday night during the live broadcast of RAW.
In a Tout video message he recorded from his hospital, The King said that he resembles a bionic man with “more wires coming out of me than AT&T.” The fifteen second video was the first direct communication of Lawler to the WWE fans.
“I want to thank the WWE universe for all their well wishes. Thank you all,” Lawler said.
WWE later posted a photo on his Facebook page of Lawler sitting on a chair in hospital as he smiles while eating stake, potatoes, and salad.
Rumors are flying around that Hollywood movie star George Clooney broke up with his girlfriend and former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler.
The rumors started with British tabloid newspaper The Sun – which is famous for these kind of stories – quoting a friend of Keibler saying, “She said George wants to be on his own again and has no intention of getting married.”
The newspaper then said that a statement is expected any day announcing that the duo have split amicably.
Clooney’s rep reacted quickly to dismiss the story, at least for now.
“A story published by a London tabloid, The Sun, concerning George Clooney and Stacy Keibler is not true. Total fabrication designed to sell newspapers,” his spokesman said.
The two have been dating since August of last year.
Screenvision theaters around the country will be airing TNA’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view live on the big screen in several states.
Participating states include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakoda, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, and the show will be screened in over 100 theaters.
Fans who will attend the show at any of the participating theaters can receive a free Bound For Glory t-shirt if they sent a copy of the ticket stub by November 2.
