CM Punk writing Drax comic book series for Marvel

It’s been announced at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo that former WWE champion CM Punk will be writing the new Drax comic book series for Marvel.

The irony in all this is that in the movie Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax the Destroyer is played by none other than former champion himself Batista.

Punk will tackle on this project with another writing partner and artist, both of who remain unannounced so far.

This is not the first time that CM Punk will be writing for Marvel as he already made his debut on Thor Annual #1.

Goldberg ready for one last wrestling match

Former WCW champion Goldberg is ready to return to the ring, but it won’t be for WWE. The news was revealed in an interview by Fox Sports with Goldberg as he was at the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“I’m going to make an appearance in professional wrestling, but it won’t be for the WWE. If I put wrestling boots and wrestling trunks on one last time – and I’m going to – it’s going to be done by me and me only,” Goldberg said.

Goldberg’s hatred towards WWE is no secret and it’s not really a surprise that he doesn’t want to go back for his last match. He said that he doesn’t have an “umbilical cord hooked to Vince McMahon” and he can say whatever he wants without any repercussions because he doesn’t need WWE for a job.

Goldberg last wrestled for WWE in 2004 where he won his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX. After celebrating in the ring with the special guest referee Steve Austin, Austin hit the Stunner on Goldberg.

He made his WWE debut in March 2003 on the Raw after WrestleMania XIX and managed to win the World Heavyweight title once during his one year stint there.

Dana White says he will not agree to Rousey wrestling in WWE

John Pollock of The Fight Network conducted an interview with UFC President Dana White for UFC 186 and touched the idea of Ronda Rousey wrestling for WWE after her successful WrestleMania 31 appearance.

Pollock asked White if Rousey came to him to wrestle a match, is he willing, will he be open to let her do it?

“What she did at WrestleMania was awesome, she came off great and I loved it,” White explained. But, that’s “One and done.”

White made it clear that there is no WWE match for Ronda Rousey and he would not okay such a thing.

You can see a teaser of the interview below. The full interview airs tonight at 7PM EST on The Fight Network.

W-O reader Liam Johnson attended the Preston City Wrestling Q&A show with former WCW President Eric Bischoff and GFW’s Jeff Jarrett yesterday night in Preston, England.

Karen Jarrett, the wife of Jeff Jarrett, was in the audience and asked a question herself, wondering if Eric Bischoff would be working for Global Force Wrestling at any point.

Both Jarrett and Bischoff said yes and planning was in the early stages but the former WCW executive will be working for Global Force Wrestling in some capacity.

You can see two photos from the event below.

Samoa Joe backstage at NXT television tapings

PWInsider.com is reporting that former TNA champion Samoa Joe was backstage at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, yesterday at the NXT television tapings.

Joe, who left TNA a couple of months ago, is rumored to start working for WWE soon with NXT being his initial home. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who was also at the show, wrote on Twitter that it was great to see Joe in Orlando yesterday.

If or when he debuts with WWE, surprisingly enough it would not be Joe’s first time in a WWE ring. In 2001, a blonde Samoa Joe wrestled against Essa Rios on an episode of Jakked in 2001, a match which he lost and a match which is available on WWE’s YouTube channel.

Dolph Ziggler follows Lana with a rant of his own

Lana was not the only one who decided to rant on a sensitive subject on Twitter today as Dolph Ziggler seemingly aired his frustration in WWE in one of his typical long messages.

Saying he has the “boyz to make the noize,” the former World champion threw in a couple of shots at his Extreme Rules opponent Sheamus.

“Overachievement & charisma ALMOST equals being tall & wearing marital beads on your mouth, yet I’m the one with the ATTITUDE problem,” Ziggler wrote.

“You’ve got 5 months to prove that ‘I’ need ‘YOU,’” he added, maybe suggesting that he has five months left on his contract. “THIS is for everyone screwed over bc they did what they weren’t supposed to, GET OVER it.”

Before signing off, he fired one more shot towards Sheamus, referring to him as the guy who never loses. “BTW haven’t you kissed enough ass, fella?”

Lana’s gender equality and pay rant on Twitter sparks fury of replies

WWE Diva Lana touched a sensitive subject on Twitter that resulted in some negative comments towards her, with the Ravishing Russian blocking those who wrote some degrading comments.

Talking about gender equality and equal pay, Lana wrote, “If a man were a woman for just one day the entire world would be a different place. PMS, periods, 9 months of hell, child raising, working, yet we still get paid less, without any justification but that we were born this way.”

It’s a subject that former WWE Diva AJ Lee called out Stephanie McMahon on a few months ago and while Lana didn’t direct her message to anyone in particular, you can bet that the message was received loud and clear.

While a good share of fans agreed, the majority, even females, didn’t have good things to say.

“Her hubby risks his life and limb 300+ days a year…. She puts makeup on and DOES AN ACCENT. and she deserves same?!” said one Twitter user, referring to Rusev as her “hubby,” although he isn’t. Yet.

“Then why don’t businesses only hire women since they could pay them less,” said another one. “Yes being a beautiful woman has really held you down.  I’m sorry for your bad luck. Hope you feel better soon,” another Twitter user sarcastically fired back.

“That’s not true. The wage gap is a myth. Don’t just repeat ill-researched rubbish,” a female Twitter user replied.

Some users took the comedy route in replying to Lana. “We would probably spend half the day nude in front of a mirror examining our new bodies,” wrote one. And one female user had probably the funniest reply of them all. “Depends what field your in I guess,” she wrote. “Women make sh!t loads more in porn than men do. Ever considered that one?” Oops!

Daniel Bryan expected to be out for the next four weeks

According to several sources, Daniel Bryan is expected to miss this Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view and will be out for an additional 3 to 4 weeks due to his injuries.

The Intercontinental champion has not wrestled since the Smackdown tapings in London and even then he was very limited in his tag team match with John Cena to prevent further damage.

On Raw this past Monday the announcers said the match will only happen if Bryan’s health holds up and on WWE.COM the story says that he is “undergoing diagnostic testing.”

It’s not known if WWE will strip him off the title if he cannot defend it at Extreme Rules and beyond.

Dave Bautista comments on possible WWE return

Dave Bautista showed up at the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere in London, and was questioned about his WWE future during an interview by the HeyUGuys YouTube channel.

Acknowledging that the gets asked the question if he’s returning to wrestling a lot, the former WWE champ said he would because he loves wrestling. He said he talks to his friend Chris Jericho and how he does a lot of non-televised events for WWE and he thinks that’s the right path for him at the moment.

“The television you’re too much locked in the scripts which I don’t think are great these days and I just want to go back and entertain the fans,” he added.

Dave’s new movie will be the next 007 installment titled Spectre where he will play the role of Hinx. He is also signed for the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

NXT is going on tour in May and June and apart from the usual Florida spots, the brand will now be going to Philadelphia, Albany, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Columbus.

The bulk of the tour is in NXT’s home state of Florida with shows in Lakeland, Tampa, Cocoa Beach, Largo, Starke, Citrus Springs, and Venice. However five out-of-state non-televised live events have been booked.

On May 14, NXT visits Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a show at The Tower Theatre. On May 16 it’s off to Albany, New York, for a show at The Washington Armory.

The show will be taped by WWE and will air at a later date on the WWE Network.

Family in India blames WWE for teenage son’s death

A family in Kolkata, India, is blaming WWE for the death of their son after the 14 year old was found dead with a rope tied around his neck.

“He was watching the WWE and aping a karate move. He had climbed a chair and tied one end of the belt to the window. His mother had gone to the toilet at that time. When she came back, she saw him lying on the floor with the rope tied in a knot around his neck,” said a relative of the family according to a story on NewKerala.com. The same relative said the boy was a big WWE fan “so he was emulating the move.”

WWE, while sorry for the teenager’s death, disassociated themselves completely from the story.

“While WWE offers its condolences to Agnidev Dutta’s family, he could not have been imitating a WWE manoeuvre because tying a rope or anything around one’s neck doesn’t relate to anything seen on WWE programming,” said WWE SVP of Marketing and Communications Brian Flinn in an emailed statement.

WWE 2K15 coming to PC with a Windows version

WWE 2K15 will be released for personal computers this Spring as 2K is prepping up a Windows version of the game, joining the Playstation and Xbox consoles.

The PC version of WWE 2K15 will include most of what’s available in the consoles version, including MyCareer and 2K Showcase modes. In addition to the full game itself, PC gamers who pick up their copy on day one can also expect immediate access to two versions of Sting and two of Hulk Hogan according to WWE.COM.

Intercontinental title match may not happen at Extreme Rules

The Intercontinental title match at Extreme Rules featuring the champ Daniel Byran taking on Wade Barrett may not take place after all due to Daniel Byran’s ongoing health issues.

During the rundown of matches on Raw last night, it was noted that the match will only take place “Daniel Bryan’s health permitting.” The announcers did not elaborate on the statement and quickly moved to the other matches on the card.

Bryan last wrestled at the Smackdown tapings in London in a tag team match and took only one bump. He was sent home immediately after the event and did not participate in any of the remaining non-televised events throughout Europe.

The Intercontinental champion is back to where he was last year after WrestleMania, injured after winning the title.

NXT to hold live event in Albany, New York, in May

After successful shows outside of Florida at the Arnold Classic and WrestleMania weekend, NXT is branching out again and this time Albany, New York, will get some NXT action in May.

The historic Washington Avenue Armory will host NXT on Saturday, May 16 and the 1890-built arena will be configured to host in the range of 3,500 fans. This is not the first time that the Armory will host a wrestling event as throughout the 60’s and 70’s, the arena hosted several Friday night WWWF shows promoted by Vince McMahon Sr.

A pre-sale will launch on April 30 on Ticketmaster.com using the code CAPITAL.
