There’s no guarantee that the Nature Boy will be appearing on Monday Night Raw itself but WWE is taping the Rhodes special with WWE Legends on location so anyone appearing is being flown to the Windy City.

Flair recently noted on his podcast that he passed all medical tests required by WWE to get physical in the ring although the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Speaking of Raw from Chicago, Brock Lesnar is also scheduled to appear to respond to The Authority’s attack from two weeks ago.

Former wrestler Dan Spivey jumps to WWE’s defense over lawsuits

Several readers sent in word to point out a message written by Dan Spivey, the former WCW and WWE wrestler who worked as Waylon Mercy in the-then WWF, regarding the recent lawsuits being filed against WWE by former wrestlers.

Spivey wrote that he does not agree with everything that is going on and he’s thankful for WWE for all they did to him. He said that he got into wrestling because loved it and yes, he did get injured and he did work 7 days a week but he traveled the world and became a household name and he loved it.

He said he did have a drug and alcohol addiction but not because of professional wrestling, but because of him. He said it’s been 6 years clean and sober now and that’s all thanks to the WWE.

“The WWE has a program in place where former WWF/WWE Superstars can go to a rehab facility, all expenses paid, no questions asked, which I was able to take advantage of,” he wrote.

Spivey thanked WWE for allowing him to live his dream and save his life and has no regrets or ill feelings towards the company.

“There were a lot of good hands that never got a chance to work for the WWF/WWE, and part of the lawsuit is that they want to form a union. For every guy that would walk out, there would be 10 guys that would cross the picket line and work for free just to say that they worked for the WWE,” he concluded.

Spivey also published a letter he sent to Billy Jack Haynes, who is one of the several who is suing WWE. He noted that Vince paid him $500 a week while he recovered from an injury for six months and no one forced him to wrestle. He also told him that McMahon never asked him to take pain pills or steroids.

TNA executive departs after 13 years with company

Andy Barton, who has served as Executive Vice President for TNA Wrestling, has left the company. The announcement came on TNA’s Facebook page.

“We wish TNA executive Andy Barton all the best as he pursues a new opportunity,” the small statement read, before pushing the new hiring of Chief Strategy Officer Eric Sherman.

Barton started working for TNA back in 2002 when Panda Energy took over the majority interest from the Jarrett family. Prior to that he served six years at Trifecta Entertainment as Vice President which was owned by Dixie Carter.

WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt comments on lawsuit filed against former wrestlers

The news of WWE filing the lawsuit in Connecticut requesting the judge to block lawsuits filed by attorney Konstantine Kyros has been picked up by several major news outlets including Fox News, ABC News, USA Today, Associated Press, and lots of other websites who re-printed the Associated Press story.

“Before this guy started trolling around looking for people to sue, we didn’t have one person, none, claiming they had any kind of traumatic brain injuries, or dementia or ALS or any of the kind of stuff you seek associated with the NFL,” WWE’s leading attorney Jerry McDevitt told the Associated Press.

“It is unfortunate that some former performers have been improperly recruited under the guise of a big ‘pay day’, and we feel badly that these individuals are being misled and exploited,” a statement from WWE read.

Kyros, who is representing all the former WWE wrestlers, said that WWE’s motion to dismiss based on statute of limitations doesn’t apply when medical conditions pop up years after.

“What the WWE lawsuit is doing is trying to do is prevent some of the most storied performers in the history of the organization from having their day in court,” he said.

TNA hires Eric Sherman as new Chief Strategy Officer

TNA announced that it has hired Eric Sherman as the new Chief Strategy Officer with immediate effect. Sherman is an accomplished media and entertainment executive who served more than 20 years with MTV Networks overseeing VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and Palladia, served as president of Fuse TV and most recently was CEO of Veria Living, a health and wellness network.

Sherman also has served as a talent manager for artists such as Steven Tyler, securing his deal to judge American Idol. In his role as Chief Strategy Officer, Sherman will develop, coordinate and oversee implementation of global strategic initiatives in advancement of TNA and its affiliated brands and properties.

“As we celebrate our 13 year anniversary, TNA, with the incredible support of our fans, has been cultivated into a robust diverse global business poised for significant growth,” said TNA President Dixie Carter. “Eric’s depth of experience in television, digital media and talent management undergirds his capacity to organize and lead teams in the development and implementation of vision-fulfilling strategies. We are delighted to have him join the TNA family.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining a company experiencing record international growth with content seen in more than 120 countries,” said Sherman. “There is a bright future for TNA on traditional and emerging platforms, and I’m excited to join Dixie’s executive team as head of strategy.”

Sherman, a resident of New York City, will split his time between his office there and the TNA Headquarters in Nashville.

WWE files lawsuit against 4 former Superstars including 2 Hall of Famers

WWE has filed a lawsuit in Connecticut earlier this week against Thomas Billington (The Dynamite Kid), Robert Windham (Blackjack Mulligan), James Ware (Koko B. Ware) and Oreal Perras (Ivan Koloff) after the company received letters from attorney Konstantine Kyros threatening that he will file lawsuits against WWE over old injuries.

WWE is trying to get a federal judge to block the lawsuits from these individuals who claim they have suffered long-term health problems from concussions they received in the ring. The company claims that the allegations are fraudulent and barred because of a three-year statute of limitations on such claims in Connecticut.

The same attorney is representing Billy Jack Haynes, Vito LoGrasso, Nelson Frazier Jr, and others who have filed identical lawsuits against WWE. Kyros started shopping for clients on the Internet last year through the website wweconcussionlawsuit.com.

“Our Law Firm wants to speak to former/retired WWF/WWE Wrestlers interested in joining the lawsuits being brought against the WWE for ignoring the health and safety of its athletes. We may be able to help you and your family recover medical expenses, obtain long term care and prevent this from happening to future athletes,” the website reads.

Interesting to note is that two of the names being sued – Windham and Ware – are WWE Hall of Famers.

WWE is obviously denying any wrongdoing and will be fighting any lawsuit of this nature.

You can read the full lawsuit in this PDF.
