Kurt Angle to retire after TNA UK tour in January

Kurt Angle has announced that the upcoming TNA Maximum Impact Tour in the United Kingdom in January will be his retirement tour.

“Good things come to an end and my career is coming to an end. I’ve had a great career, I’ve enjoyed every single second of it from WWE to TNA. I’m just glad I’m going to do it here in the UK,” Angle said while doing media tours in England to promote the tour.

TNA will hold three live events – in Manchester on January 29, in London on January 30, and in Birmingham on January 31 – all of which will be Impact television tapings.

Angle had already announced that his contract with TNA expires in the beginning of the year and he would not be signing a new one.

TNA’s tour of India postponed for 2016

TNA and Multi Screen Media announced that the TNA tour of India has been postponed and will be scheduled for an unspecified date in 2016.

There were supposed to be three live events in Mumbai on December 2, 3, and 4, with the last show being a One Night Only show broadcasting live in India.

“The postponement is primarily due to logistical issues around the timing of the event,” the press release announcing the cancellation of the tour states.

TNA made a huge deal out of the India announcement last month with a press event which included Ethan Carter III, Rebel, and Mahabali Shera appearing on behalf of TNA and former WWE champion Dalip “The Great Khali” Singh also present to announce his new working relationship with the company.

“We are also proud of the relationships we are forming with our fans across India and we are honored to travel our incredible roster to India for three historic global live events emanating from Mahabali Shera’s home,” said TNA President Dixie Carter at the time.

A large group of individuals were supposed to leave to India later this weekend but everyone was informed via e-mail that the tour is off. Those who were going to work the shows are still going to be paid.

Brad Maddox received his pink slip yesterday as WWE confirmed that the 31 year old is no longer under WWE contract.

“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Brad Maddox as of Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. WWE wishes Maddox the best in all of his future endeavors,” the statement on WWE.COM reads.

His last match came on the November 21 episode of Main Event where he teamed up with Rose to lose to The Usos.

He was also the man who The Undertaker tombstoned during the surprise appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a couple of weeks ago.

Jonathan Coachman denies rumors that WWE is paying for SportsCenter segment

Ever since ESPN has announced a partnership with WWE to bring a WWE segment every Tuesday to ESPN SportsCenter, anchor Jonathan Coachman has answered to hundreds of questions regarding the deal on his Twitter account.

Yesterday a fan asked if it was true that WWE is paying for the air time on ESPN SportsCenter, an allegation that Coachman shot down, calling it “absolutely false.” He said that it was his idea “to do for people to simply enjoy what I also enjoy. Again someone assuming.“

Fans has mainly criticized the segments as just promotion for WWE rather than tackling the real news such as injuries, ratings, and other stuff that is usually covered by wrestling websites.

Coach, a former WWE employee, has said that he’s not returning to WWE full time as ESPN is his home and will be for the next 30 years but he is loyal to WWE as well.

ESPN is apparently in the process of adding more WWE stuff to its website and adding more coverage although Coach said that things take time but the segment will evolve into something bigger.

NXT’s Solomon Crowe departs the company

NXT star Sam Johnston, better known to wrestling fans as Solomon Crowe, has departed the company after he asked for his release.

Crowe signed a developmental deal with WWE back in mid 2013 and later that year he debuted his hacker gimmick although he never made it on television until January 2015. At the end of August 2015, he was joined by Seth Rollins’ girlfriend Zahra Schreiber who played the character of his younger sister.

Prior to joining WWE, Crowe was known on the indy circuit as Sami Callihan and wrestled for Combat Zone Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Ring of Honor, and other promotions.

Raw rating for 11/23/2015

Crowning a new WWE champion did nothing to spark interest in Monday Night Raw as the post-Survivor Series episode did an average of 2,964,000 viewers, down 328,000 viewers from last week which had a Divas contract signing as the main event.

Hour one started with 3,190,000 viewers, and then dropped to 2,990,000 in the second hour before going down even more to 2,712,000 in the third and final hour. From hour one to hour three Raw lost a whopping 478,000 viewers.

Raw has not fallen below the 3 million average viewership in nearly two decades and it’s a new record low for a non-holiday episode. (Ratings credit: ShowBuzzDaily.com)

Main event for TLC 2015 PPV announced

The main event for the TLC pay-per-view was announced last night on Monday Night Raw with WWE World Heavyweight champion Sheamus defending his new gold against the 5 minute former champion Roman Reigns.

This match for the title will be a tables, ladders, and chairs match, a first for Sheamus while the second one for Reigns. Reigns, as part of The Shield, participated in his first TLC match during the 2012 pay-per-view taking on Daniel Bryan, Kane, and Ryback.

The show will take place on December 13 – just 3 weeks away – from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Video of shooting incident from outside WWE Performance Center released

Video footage from the August 31 incident at the WWE Performance Center where a man was shot outside the property was released for the first time by NBC affiliate WESH 2 Orlando.

On that particular day, a 29 year old man by the name of Armando Montalvo went to the WWE Performance Center threatening employees while banging on the glass locked door. He had already been reported multiple times for trespassing and smearing human feces on the property and WWE had an injunction against him but that didn’t stop Montalvo from returning for some more chaos.

Eventually Montalvo was shot in the torso when he refused to back down and charged at the officers. The officer who shot him was around 75 feet away from him and the incident was captured on Security Info cameras outside the WWE Performance Center and by a cellphone camera shot from inside the Performance Center. End Of Raw.

Reporter’s Rumblings – By Moe Tapp

This was actually a pretty good Raw, coming off a very predictable Survivor Series. I did not watch the Network/Pay-Per-View, but was disappointed with the final results. More on that below, so let’s look at Raw and Survivor Series, combined!

Excellence: wrestling matches between The Dudleyz/Wyatts, Sasha/Becky, The Divas Championship, and Roman/Rusev!

I’m absolutely loving Paige’s new personality; I think I wrote about her before, but this is the attitude she should have for a heel and should’ve had the first time around she turned. The fans are actually together in their “hatred” of Paige, which is perfect to push her as the heel.

The New Day’s promo was hilarious (and I love country), and I like the prospect of Luchas VS. Usos VS. New Day for the Tag Titles!

Glad to see both Jack Swagger and Neville in new storylines; great that Swagger’s actually on TV and still a face (he’s actually getting over pretty well and his theme music is awesome!) and happy that Neville has moved on from the boring feud he had with Stardust.

Bogus: I’ll begin with the little ones before my major rant!

Slater/Ryback was a waste of time; should’ve not had that segment and given more time to another match….

The Tag bout with Ambrose/Ziggler/Owens/Breeze deserved so much more time (see above!). these guys can wrestle and I would’ve liked to see them longer, and I expected it.

Now onto the big story and my huge displeasure: the WWE World Heavyweight Championship scenario. As my Dad said two weeks ago when the tournament started, it became way too predictable. It was totally set up for Reigns/Ambrose and some sort of screw finish for the finals; I did not believe for one second that either of them would keep/capture the WWE Title clean. (Yes, I predicted Reigns to win, but I didn’t think fully and probably would’ve put another situation around that last week.)

I really hate that Sheamus took it; he has done nothing for the last two months since Night Of Champions, so there was absolutely no reason to even get hyped if he was going to cash in or not. It would’ve been a little better if they had played up the guessing game with him during the tournament, like they did back in September.

Another angle/twist, much better, would’ve been for Roman to start to play the “not-a-sell-out” emotion first, then completely turn and accept Triple H’s offer to be “his guy” and be given the WWE World Heavyweight Championship right then and there, not having the tournament at all. This would’ve been a great, more-unexpected surprise and intrigue.

The current way has been done too much and is monotonous. I now can’t wait for the Royal Rumble, as that’s the next true show (other than NXT: Takeovers!) that will offer some variance and guessing in who could be the next #1 wrestler. I hope they keep Sheamus/Reigns very physical though, as that is the one plus of this feud that they are both awesome at.

Until Smackdown!, Be Excellent Wrestling-Online Readers and Fans!

Cesaro undergoing shoulder surgery today

Cesaro was supposed to be part of the 5 on 5 traditional Survivor Series match yesterday but was replaced by Titus O’Neil. Jim Ross then broke the news on his Twitter before the show that Cesaro was suffering from a shoulder injury and might need surgery.

In an interview with WWE.COM, Cesaro said that he had this injury for around two months but never knew how bad it was. After icing it for a while, he thought it wasn’t a serious injury as he still had strength and motion in and kept wrestling as if nothing happened.

“Then I thought, ‘Maybe if I were to know exactly what it is, it will be easier to rehab and get it better’ … and then I found out it’s a complete tear. [Laughs] So, no matter how much rehab I do, it will not reattach itself to the bone, unfortunately,” Cesaro said. After an MRI he found out that he tore a tendon and partially tore another one, requiring surgery to fix the problem.

Cesaro will be going under the knife today and his return date is up in the air. “I don’t want to be quoted on a timeframe. I think the official timeframe I was told was like four to six months, but that all depends on how surgery goes, how my rehab goes and so forth.”

Armed police and federal authorities with bomb sniffing dogs surround Philips Arena during PPV

Following the ISIS threat at the Survivor Series, the Atlanta Police Department in conjunction with other federal authorities made their presence known outside the Philips Arena, bringing maximum security to the nearly 15,000 fans who attended the show.

Armed police officers and federal agents surrounded the area as every single fan went through metal detectors and bomb sniffing constantly dogs roamed around. Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed opened a Joint Operations Center, a move out of an “abundance of caution” even though the FBI said they did not have credible information of an attack.

Police instructed all those who were not going in – including members of the press – to stay far away from the arena so they could have a clear view of who’s coming in through video security and eyes on the ground. All bags – including women purses – were banned from the Philips Arena yesterday to make sure no one brings in anything with them.

The 37 year old Sheamus became the new WWE World Heavyweight champion last night after successfully cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase to defeat Roman Reigns, who minutes before won the WWE title for the first time by pinning Dean Ambrose in the tournament final.

Sheamus won the Money in the Bank briefcase earlier this year when Roman Reigns was also screwed by Bray Wyatt. He teased cashing in a couple of times throughout the past few months but executed his right last night and after two Brogue Kicks he was declared the new champion. Triple H celebrated with Sheamus who apparently now is The Authority’s pick in the absence of Seth Rollins.

Sheamus is the 16th Money in the Bank winner and the 13th person to successfully cash in the briefcase. Only Mr. Kennedy, John Cena, and Damien Sandow were unsuccessful in cashing in, with Mr. Kennedy losing the briefcase to Edge as a storyline due to his suspension. Sheamus held on to the briefcase for 161 days, the fourth longest among all the winners. Only Edge, Seth Rollins, and Dolph Ziggler held on to the briefcase longer.

The last cash in was at WrestleMania 31 when Seth Rollins inserted himself in the title match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns and Rollins pinned Reigns after a Curb Stomp to win the title.

Survivor Series 2015 pay-per-view results

Here are the results of the 2015 Survivor Series, which took place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

A traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series match started things off in the pre-show featuring Goldust, The Dudley Boyz, Neville and Titus O’Neil vs Stardust, The Miz, Bo Dallas, and The Ascension. The faces nearly cleaned house with only Neville being eliminated and Stardust was the last man standing for the heels. Goldust, Dudley Boyz, and Titus O’Neil were the survivors, winning the match.

Lilian Garcia sang the U.S. national anthem and surely this only made it on the pay-per-view because of the ISIS threat at the Survivor Series. Michael Cole announced that 14,481 fans are inside the Philips Arena.

The first semi final match started the pay-per-view with Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio. Reigns was booed quite a bit as soon as his entrance hit . The ending came when Reigns hit the Superman punch and went for a spear but Del Rio caught him with a superkick. Reigns kicked out at the last millisecond and then fans chanted “Si, si, si” as Del Rio went for the armbreaker. Reigns countered that and powerbombed him but did not manage to pin him. Del Rio then locked in the armbreaker but Reigns powered out and then hit the spear for the pin.

Backstage interview with Roman Reigns. Ambrose interrupts and Reigns says that both of them will be fighting for the championship later tonight. Kevin Owens then interrupts and reminds Reigns how he always comes up short when it comes to the WWE title. Ouch. He says tonight it’s the Kevin Owens show. Fans love Owens.

The second semi final match was up next featuring Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose. Owens got a good pop from the crowd. The two had a pretty good match and a cool spot saw Owens hitting a modified suplex from the top rope which was followed by a massive clothesline from Ambrose. “This is awesome” chants. Owens F5’s Ambrose on the announce table and then tries the Pop Up Powerbomb twice but on both occasions Ambrose escapes, hits the Dirty Deeds and pins Owens to advance to the final.

The traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series match which WWE had no participants announced is next. The faces team included Ryback, Lucha Dragons and The Usos. The heels consisted of The New Day, Sheamus, and King Barrett. Woods has a new hair-do looking like Marc Mero. Yep. During the match, The Usos and The Lucha Dragons flew together as all the heels were on the outside and then Ryback did a crossbody from the top rope onto everyone! Wade Barrett was eliminated first by Sin Cara. Jimmy Uso was pinned by Xavier Woods. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick on Sin Cara, eliminating him. Jey Uso pins Big E after a splash from the top. After the Big E elimination, Woods and Kofi accompanied Big E to the back, leaving Sheamus alone in the ring versus Kalisto, Ryback, and Jey Uso. Ryback hit the Shellshock on Sheamus and wins the match for his team. Kofi and Xavier never came back out.

The WWE Divas title match featuring Charlotte vs Paige is next on the card. The two had a long match that went back and forth. Towards the end of the match, Paige went on the barricade and reminded everyone – again – that this is her house and Charlotte also went up and speared her. Then she threw her back in the ring and locked in the Figure 8 and Paige tapped out with Charlotte retaining the Divas title.

Prince Pretty and Summer Rae along with the selfie and iPhone walked out for their match against Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler came out with a new jacket and pants with a “DZ Crew” logo on them. Breeze held up his own against the more experienced Ziggler however the NXT alumni won the match after hitting the Unprettier. Summer Rae joined the celebration in the ring afterward and took a couple of selfies with Breeze to commemorate the victory.

25 years ago today, The Undertaker walked out with Brother Love for his WWE debut and the rest was history. This time it’s not Brother Love accompanying him but his on-screen TV brother, Kane, for the match against the Wyatt Family. The “gong” goes and as smoke fills up the arena, Kane hits his special powers to light everything on fire. A large casket drops down from the ceiling showing the many faces of The Undertaker throughout his 25 year career as fire lights up the Undertaker signs on the sides and blue lasers shoot up for extra effects.

Erick Rowan hits the ring quickly but Taker and Kane take him out with a chokeslam. Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt will be wrestling this match with Braun Strowman standing outside. The Undertaker walked the rope for some old school on Harper as fans chanted “you still got it.” The U.S. announce table got some action earlier on as Strowman threw Kane and cleared everything on the table. Cole noted that he was a bit too close to Kane for his liking after Kane flew on the table. Hah! The Spanish announce table didn’t escape carnage though as Taker and Kane chokeslammed Braun Strowman through it, getting the biggest pop of the night and “Yes!” chants. Back in the ring, the duo chokeslammed Bray and Harper in sync and then the Undertaker hit the Tombstone on Luke Harper for the pin. Everyone at the Philips Arena gives a standing ovation for 25 years of awesomeness. Kane respectfully left the ring to leave the Undertaker alone to absorb the standing ovation.

The main event for the WWE World Heavyweight title and the final of the tournament closed the show as former Shield members Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns wrestled for the gold. Fans booed every time Reigns went for his Superman punch and spear with Ambrose the clear fan favorite. Roman Reigns hit a massive spear after Ambrose ran the turnbuckle and pinned him for the title win. Ambrose congratulated Reigns as confetti filled the arena and fireworks lit up the Philips Arena.

After all this, Triple H’s music hit the speakers and he came out and congratulated Roman Reigns. HHH offered to shake his hand but Reigns speared him and then he turned around and Sheamus, out of nowhere, hit the Brouge Kick on Reigns and cashes in his Money In The Bank briefcase. Reigns kicked out, barely, but then Sheamus hit another Brouge Kick and pinned the newly crowned champion to win the WWE World Heavyweight title. Sheamus celebrates in the ring with Triple H as the new king for the Authority.

Two new WWE Network series joining original line up

WWE announced two new WWE Network shows that will join its original line up.

The first show is titled Ride Along, a new series that will put WWE cameras in a car as two WWE Superstars or Divas travel from city to city chronicling their journey on the road.

The second show is titled The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness. Judging from the preview it’s not clear as to what exactly this show will be about and no start date was given for any of the two series.

Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels next guests on Austin’s WWE Network show

WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels will be the next two guests on the Stone Cold Podcast on the WWE Network.

Flair’s episode will be interesting especially since the Charlotte/Paige angle where he said he cried when his dead son’s name was mentioned to further the angle between the two. The 16 time World Heavyweight champion is always a must-see when given a microphone and with Steve Austin’s no-BS questions it might be one of the wildest interviews of the series to date.

Shawn Michaels had a pretty good feud with Steve Austin which led to their match at WrestleMania 14 that kicked off the Stone Cold era. The two recently were together on the Legends with JBL panel to discuss the career of the Undertaker.

These two interviews have already been taped at Austin’s ranch so they will not be live like previous Stone Cold Podcast shows where the interviews were held right after Monday Night Raw.

Cesaro out with shoulder injury and may require surgery

WWE was dealt with another blow as Cesaro has a shoulder injury that will keep the Swiss Superman out for an extended period of time.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wrote on Twitter that Cesaro will likely require to go under the knife to repair his shoulder and while no time frame was given, usually surgery will require at least four to six months to get cleared for in-ring action again.

If Cesaro does indeed get surgery, he will join Seth Rollins and Randy Orton on the sidelines and both of them will be missing WrestleMania 32 unless there is a miracle quick recovery. Such time frame for Cesaro will also mean that he will miss WrestleMania.

His tag team partner Tyson Kidd is also out after he had neck surgery a few months ago.

Cesaro was supposed to be part of the traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series match on the Kickoff show however he was replaced by Titus O’Neil.
