Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed on his Twitter today that he will be starring in the movie titled The Janson Directive, written by Robert Ludlow, the man behind the books of The Bourne Identity series.

Academy Award winning Akiva Goldsman will write the script based on the novel which was the last one that Ludlow wrote before his passing. Universal Pictures have the rights for the movie.

The story is about a terrorist kidnapping a billionaire philanthropist and the job to save him is given to Paul Janson – played by The Rock – who in the novel is a notorious U.S. covert operative. The rescue however goes south and the main star is marked for death by his own government.
