WWE releases SummerSlam 2014 PPV figures

WWE released the preliminary numbers for the SummerSlam pay-per-view which was headlined by John Cena and Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight title.

The show on pay-per-view did in the 145,000 to 150,000 range, down pretty much 50% from last year’s SummerSlam but last year there was no WWE Network.

From that number, approximately 60,000 are domestic buys, which means that amount of people preferred to pay $54.95 for the show on traditional pay-per-view rather than paying $59.94 for six months of WWE Network which includes six pay-per-views as well. The mind boggles!

The previous pay-per-view, Battleground, did only 31,000 domestic PPV buys and a total of almost 100,000 buys worldwide.
