Pat McAfee threatened to quit WWE minutes before WrestleMania over outfit argument

On his latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee recounted how he was about to quit just minutes before WrestleMania Kickoff went on the air after Michael Cole ripped him a new one in front of everybody due to his choice of clothing.

Sporting a suit which he cut the trousers to become shorts, McAfee said that when Michael Cole saw him backstage, he flipped, and yelled at him in front of the roster and everyone who was backstage. Cole accused McAfee of being unprofessional and how he couldn’t go in front of the cameras wearing what he was wearing.

This prompted McAfee to go to the area where WWE Watch Along was going to be taped and told the individual in charge of WWE Digital that he is quitting and to go and tell Michael Cole “to go f*ck himself.” The unnamed individual obviously panicked and told McAfee to calm down, putting him in a different room, and telling him to wait as he was going to talk to Vince McMahon about it.

McAfee continued saying that he was sure he was quitting and no one has yelled at him like that before, especially not in front of a room full of grown people. “I am not getting punched and yelled at like a child in front of everybody,” McAfee said.

As the clock was ticking down to the Kickoff, which McAfee was supposed to be a part of, the employee ran back to the room, accompanied by Michael Cole. He was told that they showed a photo of Lebron James wearing a similar outfit and Vince thought it was cool and signed off on it. Cole, according to McAfee, gave him one of the most sincere apologies he ever heard in his life and then Cole clarified himself saying that he thought McAfee was going to ruin his chances of being more on WWE TV if he wore that, something that he obviously was wrong about.

With minutes to spare, McAfee was was outfitted with the communications equipment and went on air just mere seconds before the whole ordeal was over. It’s certainly an interesting listen on all the chaos that goes behind the scenes at a WrestleMania and you can see the segment where McAfee discusses his bust up with Cole below.
