Michael Cole talks plans for retiring from WWE when he reaches 65

Speaking to Outkick, WWE commentator Michael Cole said that he signed a new WWE deal a year ago so he will stick for a while more but plans to retire once he hits 65, which is five years from now.

“I want to get to retirement age. I’d like to get to 65 if I can but one of the things that I’ve been very adamant about and I’ve talked to Paul Levesque about this,” Cole said. “I’ve talked to my producers, my boss Lee Fitting, and I’ve made sure I want them to know that if they believe that I’m slipping at all.”

Cole said he wants to get out of the business at the top of his game and does not want to hang on for years and become a shell of himself like some other sports broadcasters.

“I want to go out and people saying, ‘Hey, he was a damn good commentator.’ I don’t want people to be remembering me for not being able to get through a show and really wearing out my welcome. So I’ve got a few more years left in this,” Cole continued.
