Bobby Roode cleared to return, but focus is on current role as WWE producer

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bobby Roode has revealed that he has got the green light to return to the ring but despite that, he said he wants to focus more on his current WWE job as a producer.

Roode has not stepped inside a WWE ring for a wrestling match since June 2022 in a match against Omos and has since undergone two neck – C4/C5 and C5/C6 – fusion surgeries.

“Ironically enough, I just got green-lighted. The fusion has completely fused. So as far as like, looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring, I guess,” Roode told Van Vliet. “But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity that I’ve been given now to work as a producer, which was my goal coming to WWE almost eight years ago, I’m quite happy doing this.”

The former NXT champion said he feels like he had a good run in his career and he’s happy to do what he’s doing now.

Asked about returning to the ring full-time, Roode shot down that idea, saying that he still has some issues with his C6/C7 vertebrae and while he would love to have one last match, he said, “When the wheels fall off, the wheels fall off. That’s the nature of the beast in this sport, in this industry.”
