Ric Flair’s partner and opponents for last match announced

Ric Flair’s last match has been finally announced and will see the two-time WWE Hall of Famer team up with his son-in-law and AEW star Andrade El Idolo to take on the team of WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.

During a press conference for the match last month, Jarrett said that he’s not involved in the match and he was just there as a business partner for Conrad Thompson and representing Starrcast.

Jarrett will have a busy weekend in Nashville as he is also the special guest referee for The Usos vs The Street Profits tag team match at SummerSlam.

Jay Lethal has been training the Nature Boy for his last match and his inclusion is not a surprise.

Flair is said to have suffered a leg injury during training for this match but it’s an injury that will not keep him away from stepping foot inside the squared circle again.

The match headlines a card at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville on July 31. Tickets for the event remain available starting from $39 at ricflairslastmatch.com.

Theory comes out and continued to say how he was going to cash in the briefcase at SummerSlam and called out Dolph Ziggler for being jealous for attacking him last week.

AJ Styles says it doesn’t matter if he beats Bobby Lashley for the US Title or cash in to win the WWE Unified Universal title or both he will be first in line to take them off him. “And the locker room is not jealous of you, we all think you’re a jackass.”

Theory says he is the youngest Money in the Bank winner and that is why AJ hates him. AEW’s AQA steps away from professional wrestling

25-year-old AEW star AQA, real name Angela Arnold, wrote on Twitter that she is leaving the world of professional wrestling and thanked AEW for signing her.

It was in February of this year that Tony Khan announced that AQA got signed to a deal after she wrestled Jade Cargill for the TBS title. “She’s a shooting star, and now @_AQA10 is All Elite,” Khan wrote at the time.

AQA thanked her fans, promoters, and opponents who over the past few years taught her everything she knows about the business.

“At this time, I have decided to step away from professional wrestling for the immediate future. For the past few years, both mentally and physically, I have not been in a great place with wrestling, and silly me, I kept pushing through because I didn’t want to be seen as weak, but it only sucked the fun out of every opportunity I had,” she wrote in a statement. “I hope during this time I’ll be able to reflect deeply and see what path is best for me. Thank you AEW for granting me this time.”

Prior to joining AEW, AQA wrestled in NXT under the name of Zayda Ramier. She was released from WWE in November of last year.

Arnold was trained by Booker T at his pro wrestling school and often appeared on the Reality of Wrestling television shows. She also had a few matches with Impact Wrestling over the years.

WWE purchases rights to new Kurt Angle documentary

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has revealed that WWE has purchased the rights of a documentary which another company has produced.

During the latest episode of his podcast, Angle said that this documentary is more about his personal life and growing up before entering WWE. He acknowledged that WWE did “change it up” a little bit and made it more wrestling-oriented but said that they made a deal with them to air the original documentary on Peacock.

“We made a deal with them that this will air on Peacock next year…my previous documentary…before they actually added more WWE stuff to it,” Angle said, adding that this is a “well-rounded documentary.”

Angle is also part of the A&E Biography series and his episode will air later this month.

Who will be the next big superstar in WWE?

When it comes to professional wrestling these days, it’s not as easy as just looking at the results of the last few matches to decide who will be the next WWE superstar in the future or even the new reigning champ. There weren’t as many wrestlers in the old days, and the favourites were far fewer to pick from, but there are definitely a few that stand out this year.

We are going to take a look at some of the top favourites right now who could possibly be the next big superstar.  In the near future, a time will come when someone needs to fill the spot as the company’s No.1 male wrestler.

Roman Reigns is undoubtedly the current WWE superstar, achieving all accolades. Currently holding both world titles and featuring in the main events in many WrestleMania’s. But there will come a time when the next line will step up. So let’s dive in and see who might have what it takes so you can use the sign-up offers betting companies run to place a bet on your favourite superstar.

Austin Theory’s character is not subtle about trying to portray that he is the next superstar, and his current progression shows that that might be the case.  He’s attractive, young and athletic, and his character doesn’t weigh him down by being too comical. He doesn’t often fall victim to injuries, and he can stand in the ring next to any of the major names and portray a character that looks like he belongs in the ring with them.

Cody Rhodes has more to his name now than ever before. If it wasn’t for his current injuries, he would no doubt be holding the “Money in the Bank” briefcase. The world title could well be within his grasp as he is currently in the best position to take the title from Roman Reigns. It will come as no surprise if Rhodes becomes the superstar for all significant events in years to come.

Bron Breakker has already taken the NXT championship twice and is constantly mentioned as the next world champion. To his credit, if even your competition talks highly about you and they see him going far within this sport, that has to say something. Breakker can no doubt handle himself well in the ring and can take anything that comes his way, he also has a good feel for the mic, and fans react well to his flamboyant personality. When he is done with the NXT Championship and moves onto SmackDown and RAW, do not be surprised to see him edge his way to the top of the leaderboard.

Matt Riddle has repeatedly proven that he has what it takes to stay in the main events. Riddle has positioned himself well by establishing an entertaining character and showing he can take on any opponent threatening him in the ring. Riddle’s character comes off as fun and entertaining, which will undoubtedly be part of his success as fans get behind him and his storyline.  Riddle ticks all the boxes needed for a superstar, he has the looks, wrestling talent and showmanship needed to rise to the top.

Montez Ford is currently paired up in a team with Angelo Dawkins, but when listening to the commentators as they keep hinting at signs of them splitting up and going their separate ways. It seems to be a trend within the organisation to create pairs just to split them up later. This might make for exciting TV, and who knows, there might be some other strategy behind it, but one thing that might be clear is that when  Ford does go solo, he stands a much better chance to climb the ladder to the top. Ford also definitely has what it takes; still young and charismatic, and athletic, he is hitting all the marks that make a WWE superstar. He always puts on a good show, and the fact that he is married to Bianca Belair, the RAW women’s champion, will count in his favour.

Last but not least is Josh Briggs; he might be considered the underdog here.

He might not have accomplished as much as the competition, but he has had considerably less time to do so. He was already churning up the crowd before singing up with NXT as the Evolve Champion, keeping the championship belt for eight months, and since then, he has only gotten better.

Combined with his young age and size, Briggs is on the fast and upcoming track and is definitely one to look out for.

WWE logo erected on new WWE HQ in downtown Stamford

Originally announced in 2019 but pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic, the new WWE HQ sits at 677 Washington Boulevard and will house all of WWE’s operations, including its production studios and corporate offices.

The building is located in Stamford’s central business district and provides greater access from various means of transportation and floor plans which allow for greater flexibility in workplace.

WWE leased the space for an initial term of approximately 16.5 years with five five-year renewal options thereafter. WWE expects to sell its owned and operated corporate facility at 1241 East Main Street, known as Titan Towers, and exit its leased spaces around the area.

More Vince McMahon hush money stories expected to be published soon

The situation for Vince McMahon is about to get even worse as multiple insiders are reporting that more stories involving alleged inappropriate behavior will be coming out soon.

PWInsider.com reports that the same journalists behind the Wall Street Journal story are working on another big one that will further put McMahon into deeper trouble. The website says that the journalists have been trying to talk to former WWE female wrestlers for their input.

PWInsider also adds that HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel is working on a story on these allegations and are in the process to to get in touch with former female WWE employees to corroborate stories.

McMahon and WWE have so far refused to discuss the allegations apart from issuing a statement after the first hush money story came out. That story landed Vince into an investigation by the WWE Board of Directors.

Goldberg says beating The Fiend for title was not his idea

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg spoke for the first time about defeating The Fiend for the Universal title at the Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia two years ago.

In an interview with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjour for SHAK Wrestling, Goldberg rejected the suggestions that he went in and asked to win the title. Goldberg left to go to Saudi knowing he was going to lose the match but then, over the next hours, the decision was made to change the finish.

“It surely wasn’t me because it’s an extremely selfish move to do,” Goldberg said. “Vince gave me opportunities that maybe I didn’t deserve in the past. I owe that man just about everything.”

Goldberg said that that he never refused to put anyone over, except maybe once in WCW when he didn’t agree to lose to Chris Jericho in a comedy match.

“But not in a million years in that Fiend situation in Saudi would I have done that. No way in hell. I’d love to see him face-to-face and make sure there is not one percent of his being that believes that I changed that match,” Goldberg continued.

Two former NXT stars appear at AEW Dark tapings

Two former NXT stars made an appearance during the AEW Dark tapings held yesterday at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Parker Bordeaux, who wrestled in NXT as Harland, made his AEW debut during the tapings. Bordeaux had some big potential and had Paul Heyman as one of his biggest supporters in WWE. But that did not work out as he got cut in February of this year, just four months after debuting on NXT with Joe Gacy.

Also returning to AEW was Cole Karter, who up until a few months ago was known as Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan in NXT. He was released from WWE due to some violation just a couple of months after he was signed and put on TV with Tony D’Angelo.

Karter had wrestled before several times for AEW during Dark tapings.

ROH announces restructuring of HonorClub video service

In a press release issued today, Ring of Honor announced the restructuring of their HonorClub video service.

During the ongoing transformation, ROH will stop accepting new membership and any current memberships will be extended at no additional cost until the new platform is launched in early fall of this year.

Launched in 2018, HonorClub used a tiered-price model and the cheaper option was $9.99 per month with a 50% discount on ROH pay-per-views. The VIP service was $119.99 annually and also included live streaming of ROH PPV events.

Under the new model once launched, HonorClub will cost $9.99 per month and new content will be made available 60 days after events happen live, suggesting there will be no more ROH pay-per-views streaming on the service moving forward.

Death Before Dishonor will be streaming on Bleacher Report and all major cable and satellite providers for $39.99. International fans can catch the show on FITE.TV for $19.99.

Clash at the Castle surpasses 60,000 tickets sold

The UK premium live event Clash at the Castle has surpassed the 60,000 ticket sales according to the ticket tracking service @WrestleTix.

As of today, 60,293 tickets have been moved for the Cardiff event and the stadium is currently set up for 71,810 seats, leaving just over 11,500 tickets remaining to be sold.

With the event taking place on September 3, the show is on course on being a complete sell out and a major push will start once SummerSlam is over.

WWE had over 100,000 pre-registrations for the Clash event earlier this year and a quick sell out was expected. However, insane ticket prices which rival any WrestleMania kept many fans at bay at the beginning.

The location of Cardiff is also not the ideal one for anyone traveling to the show, with no major airports servicing Wales, requiring a combo of air and rail transportation to get to the destination.

Hotels in the area have also bumped up their prices incredibly high, taking advantage of the thousands of fans who will probably spend the night in the city for the show.

This will be the first major stadium show in the United Kingdom in 30 years with the last one being SummerSlam 92 in Wembley.

Claudio Castagnoli gets ROH World title shot at Death Before Dishonor

Claudio Castagnoli will be getting a shot at the ROH World title at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on July 23.

The main event of the show was announced last night after Rampage when the Swiss Superman interrupted ROH World champion Jonathan Gresham who proclaimed himself as the best technical wrestler in the world and would be on AEW TV every week from now on.

Gresham, now part of Tully Blanchard Enterprises, last defended the ROH title at the Battle of the Belts II event in April against Dalton Castle.

Castagnoli worked for ROH between 2005 and 2011 but never won their major title. He is a former two-time ROH World Tag Team champion with Chris Hero.
