Starrcast returns at Full Gear weekend in Baltimore

Starrcast will be returning for another round during the AEW Full Gear weekend in Baltimore, Maryland.

The convention will take place between Thursday, November 7 and Sunday, November 10. Full Gear is on Saturday, November 9.

The announcement was made on the Starrcast Twitter account with Cody Rhodes and SoCal Uncensored revealing the news in a video. While Conrad Thompson of Starrcast has always maintained that this is an independent convention, the four-day event always had the full backing of AEW.

There will be an event hosted at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood with extremely limited seating on Thursday, November 7 and 10 live stage shows on Friday and Saturday. Jimmy’s Famous Seafood will also host a special VIP brunch on Sunday.

Tickets will be sold at starrcast.com starting tomorrow, September 5.

AEW World title found by Tallahassee Police Department

The Tallahassee Police Department posted on Facebook that they found Chris Jericho’s AEW title but then deleted the post afterward.

“Chris Jericho we have something that belongs to you. Celebrate with #ALitteBitOfTheBubbly (responsibly of course)! More information to follow,” read the Facebook post along with a photo of an officer posing with the title.

A reporter from the Tallahassee Democrat who covered the story of the theft of the title contacted the Department and a spokesman for TPD said, “It’s been posted to social media? It’s still an open and active investigation. The case has not been closed yet.”

AEW posted on Twitter “case solved” and thanked the Tallahassee Police Department for their work along with a screenshot of the now-deleted post from the TPD Facebook page.

This may all just have been a ruse with Jericho, the Tallahassee Police Department and LongHorn Steakhouse all in on the angle. And the best part of it was the loads of free advertising AEW got in the process!

King of the Ring 2019 semi-final matches set

The semi-final matches for the 2019 King of the Ring tournament were set following yesterday’s Smackdown show.

Over at Raw, Baron Corbin went over Cedric Alexander while Samoa Joe and Ricochet pinned each other. Rather than restarting the match, they decided to do a first and have Corbin vs Joe vs Ricochet in a triple threat match as the semi-final.

Meanwhile on Smackdown, Elias defeated Ali and Chad Gable defeated Andrade in the surprise of the night. Elias and Ali will now go head-to-head next week.

Both matches will take place at Madison Square Garden on the September 9 Raw and September 10 Smackdown ahead of the KOTR final match at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view later in the week.

Countdown to All Out rating on TNT

The one-hour Countdown to All Out special that aired on Friday at 10PM on TNT did a total of 390,000 viewers, placing 29th in top 50 chart among the 18-49 demographic chart.

This was the first wrestling show on TNT since the last episode of WCW Nitro in March 2001. The real test for AEW starts on October 2 when they launch their weekly TV series on TNT. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

AEW World title stolen in Tallahassee

The very expensive-looking AEW World title was stolen on Sunday and its owner, Chris Jericho, filed a police report in Tallahassee, Florida to report the theft.

When wrestlers are traveling, the safety of the title is their responsibility and they’re usually told not to put the title in their checked baggage for obvious reasons.

The police report states, “The victim reported the theft of his championship wrestling belt while he was eating inside Longhorn Steakhouse. The victim stated he arrived at the Millionaire Club Airport Terminal and placed the belt inside his rented limousine. The limo driver shuttled the victim to Longhorn for dinner. The victim remained at Longhorn while the limo driver returned to the airport. The victim had taken the wrong luggage from the airport and the driver took it back to the terminal. When the driver picked up the victim from the restaurant, the belt was missing. Responding officers searched the limo and airport for the belt without success. On-call CID was consulted, and forensics responded to the scene.”

Meanwhile, in a post on social media, Jericho turned this not-so-ideal situation into an angle, posting a video while he was in a jacuzzi sipping on champagne saying that he is launching a worldwide investigation using the top private investigators in the world today to find out who committed this crime.

Longhorn Steakhouse also reacted to the theft writing, “We take the safety of our guests’ property seriously and are doing everything we can to help the local authorities in their efforts. That said, @IAmJericho is a champion with or without his belt.”

Killer Kross reportedly punished by Impact Wrestling for refusing to blade

One person who has not been seen on Impact television since Slammiversary is Killer Kross and news came out today that Kross is being punished for refusing to blade during his match against Eddie Edwards during the pay-per-view in July.

WrestleZone is reporting that sources with information regarding the incident are saying that management were not happy with Kross for refusing to blade and someone had to go and buy fake blood to be used in the match.

Apparently, Kross refused to blade because there was no blood testing done and there was no doctor or a medic on standby at Gilley’s, the venue where Slammiversary was held.

Speaking to WrestleZone Radio, Kross said that he’s still under a deal with Impact but his situation remains in “bizarre limbo that is completely ridiculous.” Kross lives in Las Vegas and the company is in town this week for two days of television tapings but it remains to be seen if he will be used.

PWInsider.com also corroborated the story about blading.

Kross is the boyfriend of Scarlett Bordeaux, the former Impact Knockout who managed to get out of her deal a few months ago. Kross also tried to leave but his release was not granted.

Sasha gets Raw Women’s title shot…but Bayley steals the show with heel turn!

Sasha Banks taking on Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s title was made official last night on Raw but the big news was Smackdown Women’s champion Bayley turning heel.

In the main event of the show, Lynch teamed up with Bayley to take on Bliss and Nikki Cross and just after the match started, Sasha Banks came out for a better view of the match. The match went to a DQ though as Sasha attacked Becky and took her out with a chair.

But Bayley interfered and took the chair away from Banks, seemingly saving Banks from a chair beatdown. But the champ had other intentions, gave Banks a devilish smile and unloaded on Lynch with several chair shots to the back. The crowd went absolutely mental and popped big for the heel turn, chanting “Yes! Yes! Yes!” as Raw quickly went off the air.

Steve Austin to moderate contract signing next week at Madison Square Garden Raw

Stone Cold Steve Austin’s role at the Madison Square Garden Raw was revealed last night as the WWE Hall of Famer will oversee the contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.

Rollins and Strowman will be going one-on-one for the Universal title after the two defend the Raw Tag Team titles against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

“I got an idea. Next week on #Raw, let’s complete this Championship Contract Signing, only this time it’ll be moderated by good ol’ #StoneCold @steveaustinBSR. And that’s the bottom line cause I said so. #WWEMSG” Austin tweeted.

Plenty of tickets still remain available for the Raw in Madison Square Garden, especially facing the hard camera. If the situation remains like this, WWE will be doing a lot of shifting around to at least fill up the seats facing the cameras. The very high-priced seating, over $500 for floor seats, are not helping the cause either.

Meanwhile, The Fiend challenged the winner of the match between Rollins and Strowman during Raw, so Wyatt is getting in line for a Universal title program.

Finn Balor marries FOX Sports Mexico reporter Veronica Rodriguez

Former NXT and Universal champion Finn Balor got married last week to FOX Sports Mexico reporter Veronica Rodriguez.

Balor, real name Fergal Devitt, publicly confirmed he was dating Rodriguez a couple of months ago. He requested some time off from WWE after SummerSlam, a request which was granted, to get married, enjoy the honeymoon, and recharge. This is the first marriage for both Balor and Rodriguez.

Judging from Instagram photos, the two are in Japan for their honeymoon. Balor spent years in Japan wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling and is very familiar with the country.

Balor is also sporting a new haircut – bald!

NXT’s Kacy Catanzaro departs WWE

One of NXT’s most promising developmental talent, Kacy Catanzaro, has left WWE according to the Squared Circle Sirens website, quoting sources within NXT.

Catanzaro, who is the girlfriend of WWE Superstar Ricochet, is the former American Ninja Warrior contestant who signed with WWE in January 2018 and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. Catanzaro participated in the second Mae Young Classic tournament and was also part of the women’s Royal Rumble in January of this year.

The 29-year-old New Jersey native apparently suffered a back injury lately which played in her decision to stop wrestling. Her last match was against Io Shirai in mid-July during an non-televised NXT live event.

Kylie Rae granted her release from All Elite Wrestling

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed on Saturday night after All Out that Kylie Rae is no longer on the AEW roster after she requested – and was granted – her release from the company.

The Rae situation has been somewhat of a mystery as she deleted her Twitter account in late July and someone even went as far as saying that Khan is not really telling the full story, just protecting his business from something very shady that happened with her.

On Saturday, Khan said that the process was “very simple” and “very amicable” but refrained from going into further details as to why Rae wanted out of her new deal.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Rae is on medical leave with her subject being off-limits.

Rae, 27, wrestled at Double or Nothing and was supposed to be at Fyter Fest as well but she was later replaced.

Update on available tickets for AEW on TNT shows

In what is somewhat surprising considering the previous fast sell-outs in Chicago, All Elite Wrestling is having a hard time with the Thanksgiving Eve episode of AEW on TNT which went on sale this past Friday, a day before All Out.

The episode will take place at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, the same location where All In and All Out took place. Tons of tickets remain available for the November 6 episode so far including the ability to get up to six seats next to each other.

Meanwhile, more tickets were sold for the show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the show on October 23 at The Petersen Events Center. While not sold out, chances are pretty good that once that day comes, the arena will be full.

The October 30 episode of AEW on TNT in Charleston, West Virginia is having a hard time selling with the location having the most available tickets so far. It’s one of the old WCW stomping grounds but so far that connection is not there yet with AEW.

Tickets for the Charlotte, North Carolina show on November 6 will go on sale this coming Friday at Noon ET at AEWTix.com.

Becky Lynch on tonight’s episode of Straight Up Steve Austin on USA Network

Raw Women’s champion Becky Lynch will be the guest on the Straight Up Steve Austin show tonight on USA Network immediately following the conclusion of Monday Night Raw.

Straight Up Steve Austin has been averaging around 1 million viewers per week and it will be interesting to see if there’s a bump in viewership since WWE will surely be pushing tonight’s broadcast on Raw.

Austin has been also heavily pushing the show posting GIFs from her appearance on the Twitter account including one clip where Becky tells Steve that she would love to step in the ring with him.

It also just happens to be that Austin will be on Monday Night Raw next week live from Madison Square Garden, the same place where Austin created many, many memories for WWE including the first Stunner on Vince McMahon.

Riho and Nyla Rose get first shot at AEW Women’s title

Nyla Rose and Riho will have the chance of becoming the inaugural AEW Women’s champion after the two won their respective matches at All Out yesterday.

Rose advanced to the match after she won the 21-woman Casino Battle Royale during the Buy-In pre-show. Rose, the first openly transgender woman to sign a deal with a major wrestling promotion, has been with the company from the start. She has been wrestling professionally since 2012.

Meanwhile, Riho defeated Hikaru Shida during the pay-per-view to clinch the second spot. The 22-year-old Japanese wrestler has been in the business since 2006 and also works for World Wonder Ring Stardom and made her AEW debut at Double or Nothing.

The two will now go head-to-head on the October 2 episode of AEW on TNT where the winner of the match will win the AEW Women’s title.

AEW getting criticism for incident involving Cody’s dog Pharaoh at All Out

All Elite Wrestling is getting flack for hitting the fireworks so close to Cody’s dog Pharaoh which actually scared the dog so much that it did not want to go out through the tunnel.

As Cody was at the top of the ramp for his entrance, his wife Brandi was holding Pharaoh on a leash along with Diamond Dallas Page and MJF inside one of the two tunnels. Once the fireworks hit, including the loud mortars, the dog freaked out and was trying to head back while the three in the tunnel were trying to calm it down. Eventually, Brandi walked out with Pharaoh who was visibly shaken from what just went down.

Cody noted on Twitter that the dog is fine and the mortars should not have fired. “He got spooked just like with thunder. I’m glad he saw me though,” Cody wrote when replying to a question if the dog was okay.

AEW President Tony Khan also admitted in the post-show media scrum that they did a mistake with having the Siberian Husky close to the fireworks.

CM Punk discusses heat with The Rock and if he would take a call from WWE

CM Punk appeared in front of a sold out crowd at Starrcast III yesterday for a Q&A panel moderated by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.

One of the topics that came up during the Q&A was his program with The Rock. Punk was not particularly happy at the time that he had to wrestle The Rock and basically lose the WWE title to the part-timer.

Punk mentioned how before their Royal Rumble match, he went up to Rock’s hotel room and found out that his own promo was written by the people who write stuff for The Rock, mainly Brian Gewirtz. Gewirtz and others were there inside the room and Punk made it clear that he wasn’t happy that they wrote the promo for him. Eventually both sides found a compromise that satisfied the two parties.

The former WWE champion admitted that he did apologize to Rocky afterward for “being a dick” and Johnson accepted his apology and the two made up. He called The Rock the smartest man in the business and recalled that time when they were filming a part of the Fighting With My Family movie where fans in Los Angeles started a massive CM Punk chant before the scene was set to be filmed.

Johnson, not intimidated by the crowd, decided to give Punk a call on his cell phone in the middle of the ring, sending everyone at the STAPLES Center into delirium. Unfortunately, Punk said that when The Rock was calling him he was in the elevator going to walk his dog and couldn’t take the call. He noted that he received tons of text messages afterward and thought that someone died.

During the same Q&A panel, Punk was asked if he would talk to Vince McMahon or Triple H if they called him. Punk said that he wouldn’t not take a call from them but if they call, they better have something good. “I’ll have a conversation with anybody, but I’m not calling them,” Punk said.

Punk added that he’s over what happened to him in WWE and he has been over it for a while, noting that he’s now 40 years old and tries not to let that stuff affect him anymore.

AEW announces Full Gear as their November pay-per-view

All Elite Wrestling will have another pay-per-view before the year is over as the company announced Full Gear as the name of their November 9 PPV broadcast.

Full Gear will take place at The Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland and ticket information will be released this coming week on all AEW social media platforms.

This will be the third pay-per-view for All Elite Wrestling following Double or Nothing and All Out.

Three days before the show, AEW has an episode on TNT airing from the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tickets for that show go on sale this week.

Former LAX members Ortiz and Santana make their All Elite Wrestling debut

The hottest free agents tag team are no longer free agents as the team of Santana and Ortiz, the duo formerly known as LAX in Impact Wrestling, made their AEW debut last night at All Out.

The two stormed the ring after The Lucha Brothers defeated The Young Bucks in the ladder match and beat up both teams. Both Santana and Ortiz wore masks to conceal their identity before unmasking to a nice pop from the crowd.

With Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks taking on Chris Jericho and a mystery tag team on the October 2 episode of AEW on TNT, it looks like now we know who the new AEW champion will be teaming up with in Washington.

Santana and Ortiz worked their last Impact television tapings in Mexico City last month and their final match will air on Impact next Friday.
