Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat returning to the ring after 12 years

Big Time Wrestling announced that WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat will be returning to the ring 12 years after he last laced up his wrestling boots.

The BTW: Return of the Dragon event in Raleigh, North Carolina, will take place on Sunday, November 27 from the Dorton Arena.

Steamboat, now 69 years old, was last seen on television in August with All Elite Wrestling as part of the House of the Dragon Dynamite special. His last wrestling match was in June 2010 where he teamed up with his son, Richie, to take on Trent Beretta and Caylen Croft in FCW.

Steamboat recently admitted that he declined an offer to be part of the Ric Flair Last Match event in late July and in the same interview he said that while he can do some in-ring stuff, he doesn’t want fans to remember him for that if he returned.

“I know when I wrestled Jericho at WrestleMania 25 and then we had the return match at Backlash in a singles,” Steamboat said. “I want them to remember me that last time I was in there with Jericho when they chanted, ‘You still got it.’ I don’t want to scar that phrase.”

Steamboat added that he doesn’t want the fans to think that “maybe he should have stayed retired,” so he passed on the opportunity to share the ring with Flair for one last time.
