WWE has distributed over 15,000 tickets for tomorrow’s Smackdown in Chicago, which is now highly hyped with the possible return of AJ Lee.
The Allstate Arena in Rosemont will host Smackdown and according to @WrestleTix, the show is at 15,292 tickets out, leaving just around 50 tickets remaining. Seats behind the stage have been opened but they could theoretically open a few more considering the big demand.
The Allstate Arena always shows up for WWE and CM Punk, and there might be an extra incentive for tomorrow with the impending arrival of AJ Lee, who has not appeared on WWE television since 2015.
Lee is expected to team up with her husband CM Punk to take on Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins at the Wrestlepalooza premium live event later this month.
AEW is back at the 2300 Arena tonight for another episode of Dynamite live on TBS and streaming on HBO Max.
As of this writing, only two matches have been announced for the show. The first is a TBS title match with Mercedes Mone defending against Alex Windsor and the second is an eight-man tag team matc with AEW champion “Hangman” Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and JetSpeed vs Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, and The Young Bucks.
The only other segment which was made public is Taz being inducted into the 2300 Arena Hardcore Hall of Fame in front of his family and friends.
The Smackdown from Lyon, France drew record low ratings on USA Network, getting only 1,147,000 viewers for the pre-recorded broadcast. That was down 111,000 viewers from the prior week. TMZ.COM is reporting that Nick Hogan, the son of the late Hulk Hogan, is suing Bubba “The Love Sponge” for copyright infringement in the upcoming documentary release about Hulk Hogan.
Bubba was set the release the “Video Killed The Radio Star: The Untold Story of the Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Scandal” later this month but Nick, who is representing Hulk’s estate, filed the lawsuit in a federal court in Florida to halt the release.
The documentary was set to explain how the infamous sex tape between Hogan and Bubba’s wife Heather Clem got leaked to the media.
In the lawsuit, Nick states that the documentary includes unauthorized images of Hogan from the sex tape and the trailer also included clips from the tape.
Nick also claims that the documentary release would violate a settlement agreement between the two which was signed in 2012.
TKO and T-Mobile Arena today announced the extension of their landmark multi-year partnership through 2030, reinforcing the venue’s status as the official home for UFC and WWE in Las Vegas.
The renewed agreement guarantees a minimum of four annual UFC events and two WWE events at the arena.
“AEG and T-Mobile Arena have been tremendous partners over the past eight years, and we’re thrilled to expand this relationship across TKO to include both UFC and WWE events,” said Peter Dropick, Executive Vice President, Event Development and Operations for TKO. “T-Mobile Arena has become a classic Las Vegas arena known for showcasing some of the biggest sports and entertainment events. Despite booking the September 20 date first for the All Out pay-per-view, AEW President Tony Khan today announced that the show will be moving to a 3PM time slot instead of the usual 8PM start time.
The afternoon start is to avoid going head-to-head with WWE Wrestlepalooza which was announced just last month as the debut premium live event on ESPN.
Moving to an earlier start time will give the company the edge of starting first and it would not be surprising if the show’s main event drags long enough to cut into the first hour of Wrestlepalooza.
This was going to be the first-ever head-to-head between an AEW PPV and a main roster WWE PLE, but AEW blinked first and preferred to go the earlier route to avoid the somewhat inevitable.
The WWE Shop X account has seemingly spoiled the return of AJ Lee after a reply to a fan asking where the AJ Lee merchandise is and if they expect them to wear normal clothes this Friday for Smackdown.
“Of course, we wouldn’t expect that,” the WWE Shop account replied. “With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some [fire emoji] gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza.”
The only problem is that WWE has not officially announced AJ Lee yet, although the expectations are that she will be on Smackdown this Friday in Chicago along with her husband.

The two came out to confront TNA champion Trick Williams after Williams declared himself the greatest of all time when it comes to the NXT brand.

NXT premium live events will remain streaming on Peacock until March 2026 while the WWE Network video library will also remain until December 2025.
CM Punk promised Becky Lynch that she will regret putting her hands on him after last night on Raw, she slapped him and chopped him repeatedly in an in-ring segment that has, at least on paper, planted the seeds for an AJ Lee return.
The fans in Paris chanted for Lee while Becky was speaking, and Becky shut them up by saying that they’re the typical crowd that chants for “a dope that doesn’t work here.”
Lynch and Punk went back-and-forth in a tremendous segment, with Becky explaining why The Vision now runs the business. Rollins did appear briefly at the top of the stage, but largely let his wife be the star of the segment.
