Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar was made official last night on Monday Night Raw after Goldberg formally accepted Paul Heyman’s challenge and although not announced yet, the two will main event the Survivor Series next month in Toronto, Canada.
Making his signature entrance, complete with the backstage walk and being cheered on by WWE Superstars and officials along the way, the former WCW champion shed a tear as soon as he stepped in the ring, overcome by emotions and the constant “Goldberg” chants from the fans.
“It’s been a long time, and you didn’t forget,” Goldberg shouted. “You never say never, eh? Never thought I’d be in this ring again. So thank you for the humble return,” he added.
Goldberg said that Brock challenged him to a fight but he didn’t have the balls to do it himself and instead “sent his fat little stooge” to do it for him. Apart from kicking ass, the most thing he missed was being a superhero to little kids so he thought long and hard about it and said that maybe, he has one match, one spear, one jackhammer left in him. “So Brock, not only does that mean that you’re next, but most importantly, it means Brock Lesnar, you’re last!”
The former champion then went around the ring and high-fived the fans at ringside and hugged the kids, before going over to his son and lifted him up on his shoulder. His wife was also at ringside and Goldberg pointed out that it was the first time that both his wife and kid were seeing him in the ring live.
Tonight is a big Raw for one main reason – the return of Goldberg! The former WCW star comes back to WWE after over twelve years, last in the ring at WrestleMania XX in 2004. Will he accept a match against Brock Lesnar again? How will the fans react to him?
Last week, we found out that this year’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view on October 30th will have THREE Hell In The Cell Matches – which I don’t like, as it diminishes the quality/specialty of the match with more. We are just less than two weeks from the PPV, so what will happen tonight between Sasha and Charlotte, Rusev and Reigns, and Owens and Rollins to continue the build to their respective bouts?
The Club – Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson – suddenly attacked Enzo Amore and Big Cass; what was this about and will the “Certified G’s” retaliate? Braun Strowman has wanted some real competition, so will he get it tonight?
All this and much more, so read on!
Monday Night Raw TV Report for October 17th, 2016 – “’Who’s Next?’”
Introduction Segment: Video Promo, Welcoming, and Arena Promo
The regular Raw video plays, the pyro explodes in the arena, and we are live in Denver, Colorado! Scheduled is the aforementioned return of Goldberg, as well as an interview with Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and her opponent, Charlotte, that Hall of Famer Lita will conduct.
Jojo asks us to greet Universal Champion Kevin Owens and his friend Chris Jericho. Kevin berates the fans for chanting, and then accuses General Manager Mick Foley of not caring about him because he is being forced to wrestle Seth Rollins in the Hell In The Cell. Jericho agrees and detests Foley and his booking decision.
Owens does declare himself to be smart and figure out a way to survive The Cell, and abbreviate Seth Rollins’ employment too. Chris is also frustrated because isn’t in the Universal Championship Match as well, and blames the referee. He decides to put that referee on “The List of Jericho,” and the Universal Champion proclaims that he will retire Seth at Hell In A Cell.
Seth himself comes out on the stage and makes fun of Jericho. He tries to “drive a wedge” between Kevin and Chris by reminding Jericho how Owens didn’t back him up. “Y2J” insinuates a challenge to Rollins, which “The Architect” accepts, with a stipulation – he says that Kevin stay backstage. Jericho actually concurs, but Kevin wonders. Chris ends up convincing Owens all will be fine, and the Universal Champ hugs Jericho and leaves. This contest is up next!

Back in the ring, Rollins tries a move from a whip but Jericho counters with an double-underhook-backbreaker! He slingshots Seth into the middle rope and then drops him onto the barrier. He dives off of the top turnbuckle but Rollins counters with a kick and tries The Pedigree. Chris reverses that with a backdrop, but Seth gets the advantage again. He soars off the top turnbuckle with a neckbreaker, and then tries another Pedigree, but Jericho gets out of it and springboard-dropkicks him to the floor!

Chris is still in control, but misses a running-leg and lands on the middle rope. Jericho comes back though with a spring-dropkick from the middle turnbuckle, and then wears down Rollins with a grounding rear-chinlock. Seth begins another comeback with slingblade off of the ropes, and then a couple of chops. He throws Jericho into the corner and clotheslines him, but eats an elbow as he ran off. Jericho follows with the Lionsault (springboard-moonsault) but only gets two!
“Y2J” puts Rollins in a Pedigree position, but Seth reverses and knees Jericho in the face. 1 – 2 – Chris kicks out! Rollins climbs the turnbuckle, but is distracted by Universal Champion Kevin Owens who walks out. He turns around and rockets off the top turnbuckle with a crossbody to the floor! He hits a knee-to-the-face from the top turnbuckle in the ring and goes for The Pedigree. Jericho reverses into his Walls of Jericho submission (Boston Crab). Seth struggles to the ropes, but Owens pulls them out of reach. The referee eventually sees this. Rollins and Jericho trade finisher-tries, and then Seth is finally able to drive Jericho to the mat with the Pedigree! He covers and receives the victory!

“The Celtic Warrior” regains domination and lays into E. with Ten Beats of the Baron. He then sees Cesaro in the crowd and wants him to film a Brogue Kick. Unfortunately, this leads to Big E. splashing in the corner instead and rolling up Sheamus for the 1 – 2 – 3!

Neville climbs the turnbuckle, but Bo goes to the floor. Neville changes plans and springboard-moonsaults instead! Neville boots Bo in the corner, but as he goes back to the turnbuckle, Dallas trips him up and then drives him down with a reverse-spinning-neckbreaker.

Brooke capitalizes and boots at Bayley’s head against the bottom turnbuckle.
Dana controls for a bit until they both clothesline each other! Bayley rolls over Brooke and punches her, and then elbows her in the corner. She wants to follow with a dive from the middle turnbuckle, but Dana rolls to the floor. Bayley follows with a sliding-dropkick, but Brooke runs her into the ring post. Dana covers for three!

United States Champion Roman Reigns interrupts; he approaches the stage, makes fun of Rusev’s family and him, and then puts Rusev in his place about their match inside Hell In The Cell at Hell In A Cell. Lana gets in his face, but that was a ruse when Rusev pulled Lana away and kicked Reigns in the head. He throws him into both the barrier and steel steps. He slams the steps against Roman, and then chucks him into them back in the ring. He sets the U.S. Champion up on them, and then clamps on The Accolade!

Michael Cole is in the ring for the long-awaited return of Goldberg! After some recap of what led up to this, the man himself marches through the back to make his usual entrance! He soaks in the adulation, which include chants of “Goldberg,” “holy s**t,” and “this is awesome!” He thanks the fans for not forgetting; and then Michael leaves the ring to give Goldberg the time.
“12 years, ladies and gentleman. You never say ‘never,’ eh?” Goldberg is really happy because his wife and son are seeing him live in the ring for the first time. He also is thrilled to be doing this for all kids around the world, because he wants to be another much-needed “superhero” for them. Bill says that during his tour to put over the video game, “I created a little drama along the way back here in WWE.” He talks about the challenge that Brock put out there, and how he contemplated it. He didn’t want to at first, but then realized because Lesnar didn’t actually challenge him face-to-face, he want to go one more round! “Brock Lesnar, not only does that mean that ‘you’re next;’ but most importantly, it means, Brock Lesnar, ‘you’re last!’”
Goldberg tosses the mike and then acknowledges all the fans, and carries his son around. It is just made known that Brock will be on Raw next week to reply. Goldberg poses at the top of the ramp to close the show.

The Washington Post is reporting that former WWE CEO Linda McMahon donated $6 million in August and September to a super PAC supporting WWE Hall of Famer and personal friend Donald Trump.
The donations from McMahon made up nearly one-third of the nearly $18 million that Rebuilding America Now pulled in during the last quarter. She made five separate contributions, giving a final $1 million on September 22.
These donations make the former Republican Senate contender one of Trump’s biggest outside benefactors. Between 2007 and 2009, the McMahon family gave $5 million to Trump’s charitable foundation.
Last month, McMahon told the Associated Press that even though he was not her first choice for president, she is now a strong Trump backer. “Once you’re his friend, he is loyal to the end,” she said. “He’s an incredibly loyal, loyal friend.”
It has been exactly 4,600 days – or 12 years, 7 months, and 3 days – since Goldberg last appeared inside a WWE ring. That day was WrestleMania XX inside Madison Square Garden where Goldberg stood face to face with Brock Lesnar for their not-so-epic match with Steve Austin as the guest referee.
Tonight, the former World Heavyweight champion returns to WWE on Raw and in a business where the motto is “never say never,” the man who pretty much for the past decade blasted WWE for all the things they have done, is expected to respond to Paul Heyman’s comments about a match against Brock Lesnar, kicking off his road to the Survivor Series.
The planned match between the two is being held now to coincide with the release of WWE 2K17. Brock Lesnar is the cover Superstar while Goldberg was the pre-order downloadable character offer. While Goldberg’s deal with the game was done solely through 2K, WWE had to okay the idea and just like what happened with Sting and The Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg found himself going from inside a video game to the reality of appearing in front of thousands of fans live on Raw.
The belief is that Goldberg has signed for this program only, one more match, and nothing else. That could obviously change with the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania getting closer. Goldberg has recently been expressing his desire to step back inside the ring so his son can see him wrestle live for the first time. Goldberg has multiple appearances planned for Raw leading up to the Survivor Series.
Things are “escalating” quickly between Paige and Alberto Del Rio as the former WWE Divas champion proposed to Del Rio in the middle of the ring during a live WWC event in Puerto Rico yesterday.
Dressed in tight jeans and heels, Paige dropped on one knee and asked the former WWE champion to marry her. Del Rio said si before kissing his now-fiancé in the middle of the ring.
“When you have something that’s unbreakable. You keep it. Never have I loved someone so much in my life. Thanks for the love you give me. You’re my world,” Paige wrote in a post on Instagram accompanied by a photo from the proposal.
Meanwhile, Paige’s father Ricky was not too thrilled about it and wrote on his Facebook page that he did not approve of his daughter’s move.
“I am totally against my daughter marrying that man, statement over,” he wrote. He said this would be his only comment regarding this story.
It looks like the 2017 Royal Rumble will get the WrestleMania treatment with a full use of the stadium and one of those large sets.
The seat map published by Ticketmaster for the Rumble at the Alamodome shows that no sections are being blocked and the stage will stretch almost across the whole field. There are 21 floor sections covering the massive field along with a pretty long entrance ramp.
Tickets are still being sold, starting from $25 and all the way up to $400 while Platinum Seats are being sold for $1,200 each.
The first Rumble held at the Alamodome in 1997 drew a total of 60,477 fans and did almost half a million dollars in gate money at the time.
In a tweet sent out yesterday, former WWE champion Alberto Del Rio posted a screenshot of a text message that reveals what’s wrong with Paige’s neck, seemingly from a doctor or someone who was in charge of giving her the results of her tests.
Del Rio wrote that it’s interesting that they [WWE] say she’s not hurt, referring to the rumors that WWE is refusing to pay for her surgery because she doesn’t need it.
“You have a disc herniation at C6/7 pushing on the exit of the C7 nerve root and causing all your right side upper extremity pain and some of your neck pain,” the text message reads. “Also, you have a lot of wear and tear for your age.”
Paige is determined to go through with surgery and is expected to be out for 6 to 8 more months.
If you saw Impact this week you might have noticed that the theme songs for both Mike Bennett and DJ Z were removed in post-production and both wrestlers walked out to no themes on television.
It seems that TNA had some issues, again financially, about acquiring proper rights for these two particular theme songs and there were rumors that POP TV were not going to air the show because it would make them liable to damages as well if they air something without proper licensing.
The TNA production staff had to scramble to remove the songs in post-production hours before the show was set to air.
The two songs in question were written and proceed by Dale Oliver who is the music composer for TNA. He has been producing songs for TNA since 2002.
UFC President Dana White does not think that former WWE champion CM Punk will remain in the UFC after his first-round loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 last month.
Speaking on UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1, White told hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier that its more than likely it was the first and only fight for Punk in the organization.
“Is CM Punk going to be a guy who is going to stay in the UFC and continue to fight? Probably not, but he wanted to try it,” White said.
He added that he likes and respects Punk, he wanted to fight, he gave him the opportunity and trained for two years for it and ultimately he did it.
Punk is still on the UFC payroll and he has not been officially released.
Dave Meltzer of the Observer is reporting that TNA has amassed a total of $3.4 million in debt which is owed to Aroluxe Marketing, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, and its subsidiary MCC Acquisitions Corp.
Meltzer also adds that Carter has already sold some of its tape library to Anthem Sports & Entertainment to make up for a part of its debt. Anthem is the parent company of The Fight Network, the channel which airs TNA in Canada.
With some of its tape library already sold, WWE is unlikely to “go for the kill” now as they would not get complete control of the only prestigious thing TNA has as an asset. It’s not known what parts of the library has already been transferred to Anthem Sports & Entertainment.
Meanwhile, freelance writer David Bixenspan has discovered that the Davidson County Register of Deeds and the State of Tennessee has issued a tax lien against TNA on September 8 for back taxes that the company never paid. The state now has the right to seize control of any property that TNA owns if the taxes aren’t paid.
With Goldberg set to return on Monday and Lesnar to appear the following week, things will get more heated when the two are scheduled to appear together for the first time since 2004 on the November 14 episode of Monday Night Raw.
This will be the go-home Raw prior to the Survivor Series and with the two rumored to be headlining the pay-per-view, you can expect some fireworks.
Both Lesnar and Goldberg will be showing up on all the Raw show leading up to the pay-per-view on alternate episodes although none of them are set to make the trip across the pond for the Raw in Scotland on November 7.
Impact this week drew 284,000 viewers, down 21,000 viewers from last week’s show. It was the lowest rated episode of Impact since June 14. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)
It seems like that the company who funded TNA’s latest round of tapings along with Bound For Glory carries the name of MCC Acquisition Corp.
According to the Uniform Commercial Code documents filed with the Tennessee Secretary of State, TNA’s parent company Impact Ventures entered into this debt with the company on September 30, a week before Bound For Glory was set to take place. The registered address for MCC Acquisition Corp is listed at 171 East Liberty Street in Toronto, Canada, the same address of Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of The Fight Network.
The Fight Network signed a multi-year deal with TNA last year to broadcast Impact, Xplosion, and Greatest Matches in Canada.
We have reached out to The Fight Network for comment on the story and will update if a reply is received.
It has surfaced that Audience Of One Productions also sued TNA at the end of September along with Chief Financial Officer Dean Broadhead and Aroluxe Marketing for unpaid production services which total $222,123.43. The lawsuit also seeks secured interest, pre and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, and all costs related to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit states that in Spring of 2015, AO1 entered into discussions about a possible long-term, multi-event, production services agreement, pursuant to which AOl would provide a variety of production services for live TNA events, including audio/visual and broadcasting work, lighting, set construction and breakdown.
The production services where originally handled by Aroluxe, headed up by former TNA and WWE tag team Ron and Don Harris, and the lawsuit says that TNA, specifically Dean Broadhead, was not happy with the services that Aroluxe was providing. Broadhead told AO1 that they would answer to him and not Aroluxe and on June 15, 2015, TNA and AO1 entered into a contract for at least two TNA events at Universal Studios in Orlando.
Following a successful partnership for these two events, TNA contracted AO1 to provide production services for the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.
“TNA was apparently in dire financial straits at the time of these negotiations, with reports in the media suggesting that, among other financial woes, TNA was behind on paying some of its key “talent,” i.e., wrestling personnel,” the lawsuit stated.
AO1 sent TNA a final invoice of $288,930.04, however Dean Broadhead told the company that TNA was trying to close a new TV deal and would be paying after the deal is done. “We are planning to go back into Universal Studios in 2016 and get back on the right track with our production. Please, please hang in there with us. We will come out of these difficult times in a much better position as a company and a partner,” Broadhead told AO1.
The payment was never done and AO1 invoiced TNA $293,263.99, which included a 1.5% late payment fee. After receiving the new invoice, Broadhead came up with a payment plan where TNA would pay the company $35,875 per month. After initial payments were made, AO1 stopped receiving the money they were owed, which led to this lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed in the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
NXT just got stronger as Triple H yesterday publicly announced the signing of former ROH champion Roderick Strong to NXT. Triple H posted a photo of him shaking hands with a comment that reads, “When opportunity calls…answer the phone.”
The 33-year-old 16-year veteran has been on the independent circuit for most of his career, wrestling for ROH, PWG, Full Impact Pro, and even touring Japan. He wrestled for TNA briefly but lasted only around 7 months. He was suspended along with Austin Aries in February 2006 for arriving very late at a TNA pay-per-view and was released shortly after.
Strong’s debut in NXT will come on next week’s television episode.
“Have you guys had any good sex lately?” And so began the second episode of Total Bellas.
Nikki Bella asked this extremely personal question of her sister Brie and her husband Daniel Bryan, then, she toasted the couple saying, “To my chauffeurs, my bitches.” I don’t think that it is best for Nikki to call people who are trying help her bitches, but that’s just me.
Brie and Daniel then went on to tell Nikki about their sex life, including the fact that they use techniques from the Kamasutra. Again, this seems like far too much information to give someone! Nikki also teased Daniel about the sensitivity that Brie had said that Daniel had in the bedroom. It was a marvel to me that Daniel didn’t seem to be to offended by the fact that his wife was sharing personal information with her sister. There did seem to be tension between the couple though.
In the car on the way to Nikki’s doctors appointment, Brie and Daniel got into an argument about Daniel’s driving skills, however, I think that they were also dealing with their own problems, which were deeper than complaints about driving. The doctor may have said that Nikki’s neck was healing well, but her sister’s sex life was still ailing.
Seeking some sisterly advice, Brie took Nikki through the process by which she and Daniel usually had sex. I was shocked! Clearly, I am not the only one because Nikki seemed surprised as well. She said, “Are you taking me through your sex process right now?”, and it seemed Brie did. She explained that she and Daniel lit candles, played music, and even lit a special hollowed-out rock.
Nikki maintained that all the preparation wasn’t necessary in order to have a good sex life. She cited her and John’s sex life as an example. Nikki said that she and John have quickies all the time. She said, “Sometimes, you just want that other person so badly and you just can’t help it.” Apparently, Brie wanted Daniel badly because the next morning they had a quickie in the Cena bathroom. Then, it was announced at a morning coffee.
Brie didn’t enjoy the quickie. I guess that is what happens when you ask advice of family members. Brie wasn’t the only one who received bad advice from family members. Kathy’s fiancee John Laurinaitis, asked for advice from the male members of the Bella family about whether or not to get a prenup.
The guys said that he should get one, but one of the men, J.J. has extremely loose lips. J.J. seemed all too eager to inform his sisters of John’s plans. It appears that J.J had misgivings about his mother’s relationship with John from the beginning, encouraging his mom not to elope with John as planned.
Then, he told his sisters about John’s plans to consult a lawyer. I think that his hope was that his sisters would tell his mother, and then the relationship would break up. If this was his hope then it was quickly dashed, because not only is the relationship still going strong, but they are marrying on a yacht, probably on a future episode of “Total Bellas!”
Former WWE Divas champion Mickie James is returning to WWE – or actually, NXT – and will be facing Asuka for the NXT Women’s title at NXT Takeover: Toronto in November.
The match was set up during last night’s NXT tapings and WWE even spoiled her return on an Instagram post.
James was last seen on WWE television in 2010 after she was unhappy on how the direction of the women’s division was moving forward. She had no contact with WWE until November 2013 when she served as a guest trainer at the WWE Performance Center for a week.
After leaving WWE, James joined TNA and was part of the Knockouts division until the end of 2013. She returned to the company in 2015 but her return only lasted a few months. She was written off television after James Storm “pushed” her onto a train track as part of a storyline in June but came back to life a month later for her final match.
She is a former 5 time WWE Women’s champion and a former 1 time WWE Divas champion. She also won the TNA Knockouts title 3 times.
In a turn of events, WWE Hall of Famer Bret “Hit Man” Hart apologized to Michael Hayes and Seth Rollins for the things he has been saying about them lately in a post on Facebook.
Earlier this week Hart said that Hayes and the Freebirds have no place in the Hall of Fame because they never did anything for the wrestling business. He also referred to the group as “pill heads” who were always drunk. Hayes replied to Bret, calling him out for being bitter and for “crapping on others.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to formally apologize to Michael Hayes. A while back I made comments about the Freebirds not being as worthy of being in the WWE Hall of Fame as others. It was unfair for me to dismiss their contributions to the industry,” Bret wrote. Bret added that Hayes and the rest of the Freebirds always treated him with respect he’s sorry that he disrespected any of them with his comments.
Rollins has been a target of Hart ever since he broke John Cena’s nose. Things got worse when he wrestled Sting and performed the power bomb to the turnbuckle that pretty much ended his wrestling career. Hart’s harsh criticism of Rollins continued when he performed the same move on Finn Balor, this time on the security wall, which tore his shoulder. Hart ripped on Rollins, calling him an unsafe wrestler who has no regard for other people’s safety.
“Furthermore I apologize to both Triple H and Seth Rollins for any hurtful comments I made on my podcast. The reality of all this is the reason I quit doing podcasts in general, because they’re for the most part an outlet for negativity, and have left me with a reputation as being angry and bitter,” Bret wrote.
Bret said that he’s not bitter and he only spoke openly and candidly but it’s no excuse for minimizing other wrestlers or their contributions.
A few more details from Billy Corgan’s lawsuit against TNA have surfaced although there is not much since the documents have been sealed by the judge.
Corgan apparently filed a restraining order, which was approved, and while it doesn’t say what or who it is for, it’s probably a restraining order to prevent Dixie Carter from completing a sale of the company behind his back.
PWInsider adds that a temporary injunction hearing has been set for October 20 in the morning and in his lawsuit, Corgan is asking for a six-person jury to hear the case.
Corgan, along with another minority owner Aroluxe, are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars, and some say even millions, by the company. The sale is a messy affair which will leave a few unhappy people unless they get it their way. There was a plan to sell the TNA video library to WWE and then the rest of the company to Billy Corgan, who would then start fresh under a new name with the same talent.
