Randy Orton returns at non-televised event in Salt Lake City, Utah

Randy Orton returned to the ring yesterday in a non-televised live event from Salt Lake City, Utah, wrestling Kane.

The former WWE World Heavyweight champion has been off from television since the November 3 Raw where he attacked The Authority and was then Curb Stomped by Rollins and carried off with a stretcher. During his time off he filmed the WWE Studios movie Condemned 2: Desert Prey.

He did appear at the December 29 Raw but only after cameras stopped rolling, coming out to help John Cena from another attack from The Authority.

His returned was rumored for the Royal Rumble but that obviously didn’t happen and WWE has been holding off his return for over a month now.

Chyna announces she’s getting married, tapes interview in response to Triple H

In a video on YouTube, Joanie “Chyna” Laurer announced that she’s getting married to a Japanese man, Nobuhiko Hagihara, who she has known since 2002.

The former WWE Women’s and Intercontinental champion has been living in Tokyo, Japan, and working as an English teacher for the past year or so and she said that while she doesn’t know what’s gonna happen next, she’s excited about moving forward and excited about the future.

She said she doesn’t speak Japanese and her man doesn’t speak English very well but the two have a connection and he asked her to get married and she said yes.

Chyna said she will be moving back to the United States and name dropped Lucha Underground as a possible future workplace for her.

Chyna also taped a video response to Triple H’s comments from the Steve Austin podcast, a video which will exclusively air on Vince Russo’s website Pyroandballyhoo.com for paid subscribers.

Diamond Dallas Page in ICU in Atlanta hospital

In a Facebook post earlier today, Diamond Dallas Page noted that he is currently in the ICU of Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after he was unable to breathe because of vocal cord swelling.

Page said he went to visit an ENT specialist who shoved an 18” tube with a camera down his throat through his nose and found that he had mucus trapped underneath his vocal cords. At one point, the former WCW and WWE Superstar could not breathe and Page then was moved to the hospital a mile away. Doctors advised that he might need surgery.

“…I don’t see how anyone can sleep in an ICU because they come in and wake you up every couple of hours… HA! You gotta LAUGH because if you start bitching you get no help at all,” he joke. You can read his full blog post here.

Wanderlei Silva confirms WWE’s approach for WrestleMania

Former UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva has confirmed that he has received an invitation from WWE for WrestleMania weekend, posting a photo of himself, Chael Sonnen, and the WWE logo on his Facebook with the words, “I received a great proposal of WWE and now I’m wondering what you think of the idea!!!”

On TSN’s Off The Record Sonnen said that he was approached to come to WrestleMania weekend but was not told of the plans. He said that he knows Silva was invited as well and didn’t know if the two were related although considering the rivalry between the two it would be stupid not to assume it’s not. In a statement to PWInsider.com, WWE denied that they have invited Sonnen.

Both fighters are currently retired and Silva received a lifetime ban from the Nevada State Athletic Commission after he refused to submit to drug tests last year. He has stuck to his guns saying that he didn’t apply for a license to fight in Nevada and the NSAC had no jurisdiction to drug test him because of that.

Silva and Sonnen coached The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3, and the two ended up brawling during the show but their fight never happened because of Silva’s failure to apply for a license and because Sonnen was later suspended for two years after failing a drug test.

Paul Heyman to go live on the WWE Network at 7PM EST

The advocate for the WWE World Heavyweight champion, Paul Heyman, will be going live on the WWE Network today at 7PM EST to give his take on the ongoing controversy surrounding Brian Williams’ comments regarding a previous trip to Iraq. What that has to do with professional wrestling is anyone’s guess!

“The Breaking News show will air approximately at 7:00 p.m. ET, following tonight’s edition of ‘NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams.’ How will Heyman react to this scandal? Will the noted liar … ahem … embellisher of stories have any advice for the glib TV anchor? Tune in to WWE Network tonight to catch this can’t-miss broadcast,” reads the preview on WWE.COM.

Williams has become the butt of jokes after he came out with the truth about an event that happened – or that didn’t happen – over a decade ago when he was embedded with the U.S. military during the Iraq invasion where he said that the military helicopter he was on was hit by an RPG when in fact that never happened.

The WWE Network is free for the month of February and you can subscribe at wwe.com/network.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash returning to MSG for Hogan Appreciation Night

The February 27 non-televised live event at Madison Square Garden which is being promoted as the Hulk Hogan Appreciation Night just got two additional legends – Scott Hall and Kevin Nash!

TheGarden.com website has updated its lineup for the show which will feature the return of Hulk Hogan to The Garden for the first time in over a decade. It will also be the first time for Hall and Nash in the building back together since that infamous night in 1996 when the Kliq – Hall, Nash, Triple H, and HBK – did the ‘curtain call,’ in the middle of the ring.

That night, which was Hall and Nash’s last night in the WWE before moving to WCW, all four members hugged each other in the ring, breaking kayfabe to a massive ovation from the New York crowd. Their stunt resulted in Triple H getting punished for the rest of the year as HBK was untouchable since he was the reining WWE champion. You can see the only full video in circulation of that moment below.

Cena, Rusev, Orton, Daniel Bryan, Jericho, Ziggler, and others will all be at the show with WWE bringing their top dogs for The Garden.

WWE title on parade with the New England Patriots

After their Super Bowl win, WWE’s Triple H sent the New England Patriots a WWE World Heavyweight title replica, hoping that the team will carry it on their victory parade. And they did!

The parade, which took place yesterday in Boston, featured the WWE title as one player held it while the team was celebrating. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – both fans of the Patriots, had seats at the Super Bowl thanks to NBC and the power couple also joined the team party after the game.

It’s not the first time that athletes or sports teams parade around with a WWE title in their celebrations, giving WWE some extra free advertising!

Chael Sonnen says he has been invited to WrestleMania weekend

During an interview with TSN’s Off The Record, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen said that he has been invited by WWE for the WrestleMania 31 weekend along with Wanderlei Silva for a meeting.

Sonnen explained that he got a call from WWE and told him to they want him to come out at the Hall of Fame to talk about stuff, stuff which he said they did not elaborate on.

“If they are buying me a plane ticket and they’re giving me a ticket to the show, I do enjoy that product,” Sonnen said, adding that he knows his UFC rival Wanderlei Silva was also invited.

“I don’t know if he’s accepted and I don’t know if the two are related, but there you go,” Sonnen added.

During his UFC career, Sonnen often used to cut promos WWE-style on his opponents to promote his fight.

When PWInsider.com reached out to WWE for verification, WWE said, There has been no invitation from WWE for Chael Sonnen to attend WrestleMania.”

Lanny Poffo joins UnPlugged to talk about his brother Randy Savage

Jeff Jackson and Tony Mirabella, hosts of SNS UnPlugged, welcomed Lanny Poffo, the man known as The Genius from WWE and the brother of the late great Macho Man Randy Savage, to this week’s show.

The interview starts off with Jeff thanking Lanny for allowing this induction to happen considering Macho Man wanted his whole family inducted or nothing. Lanny said he’s a fan and wants to put the fans first, he just wished that Randy was alive and was there to give his speech in person because despite of everything, nothing would be as good as a final “Oh yeah!” from Savage himself.

The hosts talked about how the induction of Bruno Sammartino, the Warrior, and now Savage, adds legitimacy to the Hall of Fame and Lanny said that he was happy when Bruno got inducted and would have liked if WWE allowed Randy to have the opportunity that Warrior had before he died.

Poffo then talked about how bad his mother took it when Randy passed away, he said that the worst of all was that his mom survived to see it. His dad was “lucky” to have passed away a year earlier but his mom is 88 and to her it was not a wrestler star who passed, but her first born. He said how she had nightmares about it and how he had to sell his house and move in with her but now she made a comeback and is looking great!

He mentioned that it took him 3 days of talking trying to convince her about the Hall of Fame. He said that being the younger brother he never got his way but now he’s the old one and he was going to get his way, overruling his brother’s wish of going in as a whole family. He said Randy was wrong and he doesn’t want to fight this war and he thinks that Randy should go in the Hall of Fame by himself. He said the fans demand it and they deserve it.

Lanny then asks who is there left to complain about once Savage is inducted and JJ mentions the names of Rick Rude and Owen Hart, and Lanny said he wants to see Pete Rose in the baseball Hall of Fame. He said this world is full of injustice and he hopes fans will be happy. He also mentioned how disappointed he was when Maria Menounos was booed out of Madison Square Garden when inducting Bob Backlund and how he can never forgive those fans. He said that he’s going to try and make the best speech in under 5 minutes to avoid any backlash.

JJ asks when did Savage request to go in as a family in the Hall of Fame and Lanny said it was April 10, 2009, on their father’s birthday. Randy was sort of complaining about the whole Von Erich family going into the Hall of Fame and that “we don’t kill ourselves, we die naturally” and the only way he’s going in the WWE Hall of Fame is if they induct him, Lanny, and their father. Lanny said WWE tried to do it when WrestleMania was in Miami but he stuck to his guns and he turned it down because that’s not what Randy wanted.

He then asked the hosts if he made the right decision by overruling his brother’s wish and Jeff said he agrees, although there’s room for the Poffo family as well. He mentioned how WWE needed something big for the Hall of Fame in Texas and thinks inducting the whole Von Erich family was more of a political decision as certainly not all of them deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.

The discussion then turned to Miss Elizabeth. Lanny, in a somewhat of an unconvincing voice, said “Yeah, why not?” about her in the Hall of Fame. He said he’s not a fan of people who walk down the aisle and then walk to the lawyer and said if Liz is ever inducted they should “let Lex Luger do that!” Ouch.

He said that Randy harbored zero malice towards Lex and did not blame him for the death of Elizabeth. Lanny then asked the hosts that if they came to his house and they overdose themselves, whose fault would it be, theirs or his?

Lanny said that in his short speech he’s going to tell the world what a great man his brother is and will throw in a poem or two cause that’s “his gimmick!”

He was then asked about what he thinks about Hulk Hogan inducting his brother considering all the history between the two. Lanny said that when he looks in the mirror he sees a complete jabronie except for the four months he worked with Hulk Hogan and will refuse to say one bad word about the Hulkster. He said that he will be forever grateful to Hogan and wants Hulk to get closure with a great speech.

Lanny then said that Randy spent the last year of his life trying to make peace with people and confirmed the story that Hogan keeps repeating about meeting Randy at a doctor’s office and making peace.

You can hear the whole interview here.

Torrie Wilson splits from boyfriend Alex Rodriguez

New York Post’s Page Six is reporting that MLB’s Alex Rodriguez has been dumped by his girlfriend, former WCW and WWE Diva Torrie Wilson.

The two had been dating for over three years and Page Six says that Wilson put a stop to the relationship because he doesn’t want to commit plus his ex-wife still plays a big role in his life.

“Alex and Torrie would fight over his flirtations with other women, and he wasn’t ready to settle down again,” a source told the gossip website. Another source added, “Cynthia [his ex-wife] continues to play a large role in Alex’s personal life and business affairs, even though she recently got engaged to someone else.”

Wilson remained in Los Angeles after the split while Rodriguez moved to Miami. Her famous ex-boyfriend was banned from the last MLB season for his involvement in a company which supplied banned performance-enhancing drugs to other players.

Chyna points out “double standard” in the WWE HOF

The Chyna/Hall of Fame debate continued on Twitter thanks to Steve Austin who brought up the subject to Triple H during the Unleashed podcast on the WWE Network.
One particular fan noted that Chyna should never be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame because of her former career as a porn actress. The “Ninth Wonder Of The World” noted the comment and asked the question why Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist, is in the Hall of Fame then.

“It’s not a knock against Mr. Tyson but it appears to me like a double standard,” Chyna wrote, adding that if the time ever comes to be in the Hall of Fame, she would like to have Jesse Ventura induct her.

Chyna wrote that she got in touch with WWE several times over the past years but her calls were never returned.

“Perhaps with the @steveaustinBSR podcast and the tremendous @WWEUniverse fans response it can get a dialog going,” she said.
