Mayu Iwatani departs Stardom, WWE rumored to be interested

During a press conference held today, one of Stardom’s biggest stars, Mayu Iwatani, announced that she is leaving the promotion, one day after competing at the All-Star Grand Queendom event.

Iwatani, who lost the IWGP Women’s title after 735 days yesterday, spent the last 14 years working for the promotion and during the press conference, she said that while it was a difficult decision for her to leave, she feels like she accomplished everything with Stardom.

The Japanese star won the IWGP Women’s title from Mercedes Mone two years ago in Yokohama, Japan and had a total of nine title defenses.

It is believed that WWE are interested in bringing her over and she is great friends with both Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky, who she spent several years with in Stardom.
