Rey Mysterio is currently in Birmingham, Alabama about to undergo surgery for a torn abductor according to a video he posted on his Instagram Stories.
The WWE Hall of Famer suffered the injury on the eve of WrestleMania Saturday while wrestling in a six-man tag team match. The injury prevented him from wrestling the following night against El Grande Americano and Mysterio was replaced by Rey Fenix.
Mysterio is doing the surgery at the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.
“I tore my abductor the Smackdown before WrestleMania and I’m scheduled for surgery today, so I will keep you guys posted,” Mysterio said while sitting on a hospital bed. “Thank you guys very much, and I will let you know once I get out of surgery.”
Mysterio did not reveal any timeline for return, but grade 3 strains can take over four months to heal.
