Hobbs & Shaw with Dwayne Johnson on track for #1 spot and $60 million opening

Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs & Shaw movie dominated the box office chart yesterday with an estimated $23.7 million according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. Thursday previews of the movie did an additional $5.8 million.

Playing in 4,253 theaters nationwide, the latest Fast & Furious franchise headlined by Johnson and Jason Statham is expected to do around $60 million for the weekend plus an additional $120 million internationally. The movie opened in 53 countries worldwide and will be the #1 movie in the world this weekend.

What’s even better for the team at Universal Pictures is that Hobbs & Shaw received an A- CinemaScore from opening-day audiences. The past couple of Fast & Furious movies all did an A CinemaScore.

For those watching the movie in theaters, it’s suggested to stay until the end of the credits as there’s not one, not two, not three, but four scenes that play out throughout the credits!
