Dwayne Johnson back in theaters today with Disney’s Moana 2

Just weeks after his Red One movie opened around the world, Dwayne Johnson is back on the big screen today, or better yet, behind the microphone, with the release of Disney’s Moana 2.

The movie also features the voices of Auliʻi Cravalho, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, Rose Matafeo, David Fane, Hualālai Chung, Rachel House, Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey, and Alan Tudyk.

The synopsis of the movie reads, “Three years after the events of the first film, Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors and forms her own crew, reuniting with her friend, the demigod Maui. As they journey to the far seas of Oceania to break the god Nalo’s curse on the hidden island of Motufetu, which once connected the people of the ocean, they confront old and new foes, including the Kakamora and underworld goddess Matangi.”

Moana 2 is expected to do much better than Red One, with projections hovering in the $110 million range for the Thanksgiving weekend. If it hits that number, it would be the biggest opening for a film released during that period.

The original Moana pulled in $643 million in worldwide box office and had a budget of $150 million.
