AEW President Tony Khan continued to heap praise on Paramount chief David Ellison ahead of the Paramount takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.

The company is hoping that Paramount Skydance will pick up its new TV media rights once the current deal runs out in 2027, although there is an option year on the table which would extend it to 2028 before a new deal can be agreed on.

“I’ve made it no secret dozens and dozens of times I’ve gone on the record and said I look forward to a time when hopefully it will be Paramount and Warner Brothers together,” Khan said during a live video feed on X. “I think it’ll make AEW stronger. I’ve said time and time again, and I believe we are very close to that time.”

Khan said that Paramount’s settlement with several State Attorney Generals is a “fantastic announcement for AEW” and its fans “to have the leadership of the great David Ellison coming in.”

Khan noted that Ellison “loves professional wrestling and loves sports” and worked with him in the NFL.

“This is a great TV producer, a great film producer, and somebody who I think is going to be a great leader for Warner Brothers just like he is now for Paramount,” Khan continued.
