Tony Khan on big McMahon rumor from last week: “Shane is always welcome in AEW”

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso ahead of this Sunday’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, AEW President Tony Khan discussed the rumor of Shane McMahon being interested in appearing for AEW in the future.

“I heard the rumor he might be interested,” he said. “I’ve never met Shane, but we have a lot of mutual friends. I have a lot of respect for him as an executive and a professional wrestler.”

The rumor started on Jim Ross’ Grilling JR podcast when co-host Conrad Thompson revealed that McMahon reached out to some AEW stars to get an idea of what their opinion would be if he were to show up.

While he said he never met McMahon, Khan is ready to do business.

“Shane is always welcome in AEW,” he said bluntly.

Khan also discussed his relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery and his negotiations for a new media rights deal.
