Report: Malakai Black gets conditional release from AEW

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting through the Select service that Malakai Black has been “conditionally released” from his AEW contract and will not be appearing on AEW TV anymore.

What conditions are attached to his release are unknown but you can bet one of them is that he cannot join WWE. His original contract was supposed to run till 2027.

Black requested his full release a few weeks ago citing mental health issues and other unhappiness with the direction of his character. That release was denied by AEW management.

He has been part of AEW since July 2021 after he was surprisingly released from WWE earlier in the year.
