Hikaru Shida regains the AEW Women’s title on Dynamite

There’s a new AEW Women’s champion in town and her name is Hikaru Shida.

Shida and Storm main evented the 200th episode of Dynamite last night on TBS and even with The Outcasts in her corner, Storm was unable to retain the title. Storm hit the Storm Zero on Shida and was close to end Shida but then Shida avoided a second Storm Zero and reversed a sunset flip into a high stack and pinned Storm for the victory.

The Japanese star then celebrated with the title as confetti rained from the top.

This is Shida’s second run with the AEW Women’s title, having won it the first time during the pandemic era in front of no fans. Her first reign lasted 372 days, winning it at Double or Nothing in May 2020 and losing it a year later also at Double or Nothing in May 2021.

Storm’s second run with the title ended after 66 days. She won it at Double or Nothing this year from Jamie Hayter.
