Tony Khan declares Rampage victory over Smackdown

AEW President Tony Khan has declared Rampage victory over Smackdown this past Friday. Both Rampage and Smackdown overlapped for 30 minutes on Friday, with the “Supersized” Smackdown running half an hour longer than usual, cutting into the first 30 minutes of Rampage.

Replying to a tweet which covered Friday’s numbers, Khan said that he was going to give a story “nobody leaked” over the weekend.

“AEW got a big victory over WWE after WWE aggressively extended their Friday show 30 minutes & loaded it up head-to-head 10-10:30pm vs #AEWRampage, with AEW Rampage winning 328k to 285k (+15% margin),” Khan said.

Khan was referring to the 18-49 demo rating, not the overall number of viewers, which Smackdown led with 866,000 to Rampage’s 578,000. Both shows did 0.24 in the 18-49 demo but Smackdown was placed #3 in the chart and Rampage was #4.

The final 30 minutes of Smackdown featured Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair and even Brock Lesnar while Rampage kicked things off with a CM Punk match and followed by a women’s match featuring Ruby Soho and The Bunny.
