Six NFL stadiums considered for SummerSlam 2021

The Sports Business Journal has a short story on how WWE was considering six NFL stadiums to potentially host SummerSlam.

The Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, NRG Stadium in Houston, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, MetLife Stadium in New York, and Nissan Stadium in Nashville were all contenders to host the second WWE stadium show of the pandemic era.

According to multiple sources, WWE is set to land in Las Vegas for SummerSlam and the Allegiant Stadium will host the first big WWE pay-per-view in Sin City since 1993. It’s now only a matter of selecting the correct date.

The weekend of August 21 and 22 is being considered but there’s the Manny Pacquiao boxing match on August 21 which WWE might want to avoid for obvious reasons. Wrestling pay-per-views don’t often do well against other big box office contact sports events.

Las Vegas dropped all COVID-19 mandates and is operating normally with zero restrictions.
