WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling in talks over partnership

In what could be a major, major story, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE is in talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling for a working relationship which would see WWE become New Japan’s exclusive American partner.

The talks, spearheaded by the ever-busy WWE President Nick Khan, would have WWE Superstars crossing the pond and participate in NJPW events and vice versa. As it is, WWE Superstars are not allowed to wrestle for other promotions.

Currently, New Japan has working relationships with both All Elite Wrestling and Impact Wrestling but if this WWE deal goes, and that is a big if, it would mean that NJPW would then work with WWE going forward.

Meltzer writes that talks took place in late March or early April but there’s no indication where the two are right now.

Khan is being very active in his role and is bringing in mega deals for the company despite the slow business.
