WWE officially announces the release of Alberto Del Rio

WWE has officially announced the departure of Alberto Del Rio from the company effective today, September 9.

The former WWE champion made his return to the WWE last year at Hell In A Cell as a surprise opponent for John Cena, defeating Cena and winning the United States title. Things didn’t go as planned though as after that night, Del Rio was paired with Zeb Coulter and then thrown in the League of Nations group with Sheamus, Barrett, and Rusev.

Del Rio was suspended for 30 days last month and it then became clear that the Mexican Superstar would not be returning after his suspension is over. Del Rio has a press conference set for today in Mexico City to discuss his future and departure from WWE.
