Vince McMahon talks about Shane, Steph, Triple H, and John Cena

The Orlando Sentinel newspaper has a comprehensive Q&A story with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon which was done yesterday after the press conference to announce WrestleMania 33 at the Citrus Bowl.

Interesting topics from the Q&A were John Cena, Triple H, Stephanie and Shane. Vince described Cena as the Babe Ruth and a real warrior of the company. He said knowing Cena he will probably be still going at this when he’s 70 like him as he loves it that much.

Regarding his son Shane, he described his return as “awesome” and always hoped that one day they would be back together. He said the tension sometimes between family members at work can “be very difficult” as the “old bull is not ready to give it up, his horns are still sharp.” He stopped short of saying if there will be a corporate job for Shane after this whole WrestleMania angle is over but said he enjoys performing with him.

Vince said that he’s very proud of Triple H and this may be his last WrestleMania as a performer but it was extraordinary to watch him grow in his position backstage. “He’s a little long in the tooth as I say to his face and we all laugh about that now because I’m 70 years old,” joked Vince. As for Stephanie, he said she had an even more of a meteoric rise and she fits everywhere in terms of brand representation where no one else does. “Talk about an ambassador, she’s obviously beyond an ambassador and her growth corporately has been great. I’m very proud of both of them,” Vince concluded.
