A tag team title tournament kicked off on Smackdown to determine who will be the number one contenders for the WWE tag team titles, currently held by Kane and Daniel Bryan.

Eight tag teams will be participating in this tournament with the winners facing the current champs at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view in October.

The qualifying matches are Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow vs The Usos; Santino Marella and Zack Ryder vs Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel; Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs Prime Time Players; Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs Epico and Primo.

As a team, only Kofi Kingston and R-Truth and Epico and Primo have been tag team champions before, with Cody Rhodes, Santino Marella, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, and Rey Mysterio holding the titles with different tag team partners in the past.
