Smackdown! TV report for 09/24/2015

Smackdown TV Report for September 24th, 2015 – “Side A or Side B?”

Introduction Segment: Video Promo and Arena Promo

Night Of Champions and Raw is recapped with a video montage, then we go live to the arena in Corpus Christi, Texas. Eden Stiles asks us to welcome the Director Of Operations, Kane. The (former) “Big Red Machine” is thrilled to be back, and books a couple of bouts for the night. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens will partner with Rusev to face Dolph Ziggler and Ryback; Roman Reigns will take on Luke Harper; and Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, and Braun Strowman are banned from ringside.

He is about to announce another match when WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins comes out on stage. Kane is happy to see him too, but Rollins can’t figure out what’s going on with him. He accuses Kane of still being “the demon” despite wearing corporate attire now. The 7-footer almost turns to that side, but backs down. Seth alludes that Kane needs professional help, psychologically, but Kane will just “take that under advisement.” The WWE World Heavyweight Champion can’t believe it, and Kane puts him in a match against Dean Ambrose, later!

Rich Brennan, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Booker T. address us from the announce table. Booker speculates that Kane now has Split-Personality Disorder, but Lawler thinks that Kane is just playing it up to …. Rollins.

Roman Reigns makes his entrance to meet Luke Harper!

Commercials.

Match #1: Single – Roman Reigns VS. Luke Harper

Luke kicks to begin and tries a powerbomb immediately, but Roman blocks and tries one of his own. Harper slides out and the two fight on the outside. Luke is tossed back in the ring and given a big suplex. Reigns whips Luke into the ropes and attempts a Samoan Drop but Harper elbows out. Roman puts Luke into the corner and clotheslines him ten times, then slugs away on the opposite side.

They brawl back on the floor, with Luke giving Reigns a big boot-to-the-face. Back in the ring, Harper impressively slingshots himself from the apron onto Roman with a senton splash! He powerbombs Reigns for a near-fall, then measures him up. He goes for the Discus Clothesline, but Roman counters with a Superman Punch and the Spear; he covers for the victory!

Winner via Pinfall: Roman Reigns

Up next, Neville and The Lucha Dragons will be in Six-Man Tag-Team wrestling with Tag-Team Champions The New Day!

Cesaro kips up and rolls Dallas around in a couple pin combos. Cesaro continues to control until Bo elbows him out of the corner. Dallas gives Cesaro a forearm into the lower back and wears him down. Cesaro reverses later into another new pin combo that finishes this one!

Ryback and Kevin go to start, but Owens quickly switches with Rusev. Instead of Ryback, Rusev asks for Dolph, so he gets him and begins to pick apart Ziggler. He yells at Dolph, but “The Show Off” hits back with a dropkick. His comeback doesn’t last long, as Rusev gives him a twisting slam then is tagged by Owens. Both he and Rusev dominate Ziggler for a bit until Dolph leaps on Rusev with a DDT!

Kevin is back in control over Dolph. He also taunts Ziggler as he works him over. Rusev back in and stomps away. Owens does the same and scoop-slams Dolph, then prompts Rusev to do the same and “one-up” him. Dolph, however, hops out of Rusev’s scoop-slam and does the same. He also scoop-slams Owens, then jumps for the hot-tag to Ryback. He tries to clean house, but Rusev kicks “The Big Guy” hard and almost takes this!

Ryback suddenly catches Rusev with a spinebuster, then hits Kevin off the apron. He turns into another kick from Rusev, but Kevin decides to walk away with his Intercontinental Championship! This leaves Rusev be kicked by Dolph and planted with the Shellshock and the W!

He gives Ambrose a punch as he ran, then dives off the top turnbuckle with a knee-to-the-head! He corners and taunts Dean, but “The Lunatic Fringe” turns him around and chops a number of times.

Seth kicks hard again, then runs at Dean in the corner. He whips Ambrose again, but Dean hits back with a clothesline. He rapidly punches Rollins, then brings him from the turnbuckle to the middle of the mat with a suplex! “The Lunatic Fringe” ascends the turnbuckle, but Seth meets him up there. They both go back-and-forth with counters and pin combos, then Dean tosses Rollins to the floor!

He follows up with a dive, then blocks a kick into a Fisherman’s Suplex for two! Rollins hits back with an enziguri, then they both punch at each other! They continue to counter moves, until Seth pokes Ambrose in the eye, then drives him into the corner with a powerbomb!

Kane’s pyro suddenly explodes on stage, and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion is searching. Dean takes advantage and rolls up Rollins to get the victory!

Winner via Pinfall: Dean Ambrose

Post-match, Rollins demands to know what’s going on with Kane. “Do you know who I am? Do you know what I’m capable of? Every single person who has stepped in this ring with me has paid the price. Did you see what I did to ‘The Icon’ Sting at Night Of Champions?” He closes the show by stating how good he is and holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship high.

End Of Smackdown!

Reporter’s Rumblings – By Moe Tapp

This the first time ever in all of my reports that I liked absolutely everything promo and match-wise on this show! Smackdown! was excellent this week, with a good mix of promos and action, and all was well put together/spoken. I don’t even have to go into my usual breakdown, as the whole show would go into my “excellence” category. Way to go, Smackdown!
