Shawn Michaels reveals when the decision to end Taker’s streak was taken

Appearing on the Jim Ross podcast The Ross Report, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels talked about the ending of streak at WrestleMania XXX and when the decision was taken.

“I was shocked, I was shocked,” HBK said, adding that everybody was stunned backstage at the outcome. Ross speculated that the decision wasn’t probably taken at the eleventh hour or during that weekend, at which point Michaels interrupted him and said, “Four hours,” revealing that the decision to end the streak was taken just four hours before the show started.

Ross then recounted how he met Taker at the Hall of Fame the day before and asked him how many more of these he has got in him and Taker replied, “I don’t know, I’ll let you know in a few hours.”

Admitting that several injuries might play a big part in Taker’s decision to call it quits, Shawn Michaels said that regardless of what he had, his injuries had no bearing on the outcome of the match.

“In my personal opinion I would have liked to see Taker undefeated and retire,” HBK said.
