A match that happened many times in TNA is finally happening on WWE television for the first time ever as Samoa Joe became the number one contender for the WWE title held by AJ Styles.

The two will be one of the main events of SummerSlam next month, taking place on August 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Joe attacked the WWE champion during a segment on Smackdown where General Manager Paige revealed Styles’ opponent. The former NXT champion locked Styles in the Coquina Clutch and then proceeded to put his name to paper to make the match official.

While this will be the first time that Styles and Joe will wrestle each other on WWE television, the two have wrestled before during non-televised live events.
