John Cena wins the WWE Intercontinental title on Raw

John Cena can finally call himself a Grand Slam champion after he won the Intercontinental title on Raw last night in Boston.

Cena opened the show to an obvious mega pop and a red-hot crowd but Dominik Mysterio interrupted the proceedings. Mysterio told Cena he’d put him down and even though he has not reached his peak yet, he’s already better than Cena ever was in his prime.

Cena gave Dom a chance to walk out, out of respect of his father Rey, but Dom doubled down. That’s when Triple H, who was already in the ring, stepped in and made Mysterio defend the Intercontinental title against Cena right there and then.

The match had a few ref bumps and some very close calls but in the end, it was the hometown boy who won with the AA to the delight of the crowd.

The Intercontinental title is a championship that has evaded Cena throughout his career and without it he was not going to be classified as a Grand Slam champion.
