FOX pushing for Daniel Cormier’s WWE commentary gig

A few days ago, UFC Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier said that he will be auditioning for a spot on the WWE commentary team soon at the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer adds to the story that FOX is pushing for Cormier to do it and take the gig as they are trying to get him a spot on the Smackdown team once the show moves to their network in October 2019.

Cormier already does the job of an analyst on UFC programming on FOX and is well-liked by the powers that be. He is a big, big wrestling fan that keeps up with the product so if it eventually happens, it’s not like WWE will get someone who doesn’t know current or past storylines trying to sell a story on commentary.

The champ will be doing the audition after his UFC 230 fight against Derrick Lewis.
