Daniel Bryan returns tonight on Smackdown

Daniel Bryan will be returning to Smackdown tonight after a four-month absence.

The former champion has been out of action because he took time off to spend time with his family and prepare for the arrival of the latest addition to his family, a baby boy born on August 1.

Bryan’s last match was against AJ Styles, a 26-minute match which he lost in the tournament final to crown the new Intercontinental champion. That match was taped on May 26 but it aired on June 8.

Bryan will be kicking off tonight’s episode of Smackdown which is being billed as the season premiere. Also taking place on Smackdown tonight are Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman for the Universal title, The New Day vs Sheamus, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura, The Street Profits vs Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the Smackdown Tag Team titles, and Jeff Hardy vs Lars Sullivan.
