Cardi B song chosen as SummerSlam 2021 theme…hosting duties next?

WWE has selected Cardi B’s song Up as the official theme song for the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view, which yesterday was announced as taking place on Saturday, August 21.

The official music video of the song premiered on February 5 on YouTube and has over 152 million views so far.

There are several rumors as well that Cardi B will be hosting the pay-per-view, although the deal has not been locked in yet. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast was the first to break the news about Cardi B and her role at SummerSlam. A few months ago, Cardi B engaged with wrestling fans on Twitter and talked about her favorite wrestlers growing up.

WWE President Nick Khan also mentioned her name during an interview earlier in the year saying that Bad Bunny and Cardi B were two names that WWE hoped to work with. Bunny eventually went on to have a match at WrestleMania, winning the fans and everyone in the locker room with his work ethic.

The location of SummerSlam will be revealed on June 5 during the Belmont Stakes’ pre-race show on NBC, with Las Vegas being the rumored destination.
