Apollo Crews gets Intercontinental title shot at SummerSlam

The fourth title match for SummerSlam was confirmed last night on Smackdown, with the Intercontinental title to be defended by The Miz against Apollo Crews.

Crews won a triple threat against Baron Corbin and Kalisto, pinning Kalisto to become the number one contender for the title. After the match, Corbin attacked Kalisto and Crews came for the save, only for The Miz – who was doing commentary – to hit the Skull Crushing Finale on him. Corbin didn’t appreciate the help and hit the End of Days on The Miz afterward.

This will be Crews’ first title opportunity on the main roster. He was called up from NXT earlier this year and made his main roster debut on the Raw after WrestleMania 32.
