Mike Santana wins the TNA World title at Bound For Glory

Mike Santana won his first major singles title at Bound For Glory, successfully defeating champion Trick Williams to become the new TNA World champion.

After winning the match with the discus lariat, things got a little bit complicated as when TNA President Carlos Silva was handing over the title, there were two teases of cashing in the Call Your Shot gauntlet contract.

First it was Nic Nemeth, who came out with the trophy to spoil the party but the lights went out and Elias returned to take out the former Dolph Ziggler. Then, the other co-winner of the gauntlet match, Frankie Kazarian, tried to cash in but was unable to since he wasn’t in possession of the trophy. Santana then decked him to neutralize the threat.

After Santana was handed the title, his daughter joined him in the ring and he gave her the belt for a nice little moment.

This ends NXT’s Trick Williams 140-day reign as TNA champion, a reign which started at NXT Battleground this past May.

Santana also becomes the first Puerto Rican to win the TNA World title.
